  1. I will staying in a mini suite on the Gem next month...Can someone tell me what type of coffeemaker is in the cabin? Is it like a mister coffee coffemaker?Because i was thinking of bringing my own brand...the kind that looks like a tea bag...i believe Maxwell House or Folgers makes them....and a small box of flavored creamers.... would appreciate if someone could answer me back and let me know....thanks alot

  2. Yes, check the other nights. But there's no reason they can't take you as a party of 3 if they have room for 4! If you really want to book for that night, maybe you can do it over the phone.

If you have the UDP, you could also go ahead and book for 4 (you shouldn't have to pay anything) and then modify the reservation on board.

I ran into the same problem...I am a solo traveler...i went unto myncl.com to make dinner reservations...have the UDP....they gave me two different times...and again it said for 2 people.... I called up ncl....and they told me when i do get onboard to either go down to the guest services desk, or call the restaurant....and have that changed to a party of 1....as if i do not call...and i do just show up the day of reservation...they are going to charge me for an extra person....which i cannot understand.... but i will make sure to have the reservation changed to 1 person....

  3. I was on the Gem two weeks ago. Bingo packages were $39, $49 and $69. We did not play Bingo, but we did play Deal or No Deal for $20 (two games). I didn't win anything, but my friend had three matches and won a free photo.

Hi i never played Deal or no Deal...can you explain to me how you play? and you did say that it was $20 for two games? I am just trying to figure out what i want to do when i cruise next month, as we do have three sea days before we hit our first port of call....

  4. Thank you very much for the information on how the UBP works on the NCL Gem...I will be doing the same as you did, after a couple of days...going down to guest services for a printout of my account to make sure nothing was added onto the account...just for peace of mind...

Ah ha so then they do charge you tax on the drinks that you purchase onboard while docked in NYC? Mine was the promo and all gratituty and tax was already calculated in....will i still be charged tax if i purchase a drink while the ship is still docked in NYC?

  5. I am sailing the NCL Gem November 23, 2015....and would like to know how the UBP works....

Last year I was on the MSC Divina and had there UBP....how it worked there was once you purchased a drink, they handed to you the receipt...showing a $0.00 balance ... you signed the receipt...gave one receipt back to the bartender, and you kept the other receipt... Does NCL work the same way?

Would appreciate it very much if someone can explain to me how NCL works on there UBP.....

    Thank You,

    Cathy

  6. I am going on a cruise next month November 23, 2015...... I did not purchase the travel insurance from the cruise line....looking to purchase travel insurance from insuretogo....has anyone ever used them before... they are offering 3 different plans.... one plan is $108... second plan is $123...and the most popular plan is $136.... also being as my cruise is next month...when would be the latest i can purchase travel insurance for my trip...

The insurance seems reasonable and affordable.... any other suggestions on travel insurance companies that other people have used?

  7. I am going on the Gem November 23, 2015... I will have one piece of luggage to check in at the terminal....can someone give me an idea of how much to tip the porter for one 28" piece of luggage.... have been reading some horror stories, and i want my luggage to arrive at my cabin in one piece...

Would appreciate if someone has an idea...to forward to me an answer...

    Thanks,

    Cathy

  8. I was looking a Jaital.Com to do a all inclusive Beach Day Pass in St. Maarten.. This company offers a great deal....

For $83.99 all inclusive....you get R/T transportation from the cruise pier in St. Maarten to the Sonesta Great Bay All Inclusive Resort.....upon arrival you get the use of umbrellas, loungers, unlimited luncheon buffet...unlimited drinks that include, wine, beer, frozen drinks, sodas...alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, use of the 4 pools, beach, towels etc....you can view this beach day pass at Jaital.Com..... it all has bathrooms and changing facilities....casino....use of non motorized water sports...

This sounds to me like a great deal for the day.....I was wondering if anyone has used this company for the all inclusive day beach pass at the Sonesta Great Bay Resort....would appreciate any information.... I am very much interested in purchasing this day pass....as i was searching...and this is the only resort that offers an all inclusive beach day pass with all of the extras.

  9. I am sailing the NCL Gem November 23, 2015....I have a mid ship mini suite on deck 11.....Cabin 11546....I was wondering if anyone has sailed in this cabin....or anyone has stayed on this deck before......I am concerned what is above me......and is it noisy.....If anyone should have any information on this or as i said have stayed mid ship in a mini suite before....i would appreciate any information that you can give me... also i understand that there will be an overhang over the balcony, is this correct?

  10. Hi i am sailing on the Gem November 23, 2015... I live in New York, on Long Island Area...Being as the Gem is sailing on a Monday, i am taking the Greyhound into Manhattan on the day before the cruise which is a Sunday, and i am staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites/Manhattan/Times Square....got a good deal on a Standard King Room for $119 for the night...with all the taxes it came for the night $140.05...which is a pretty good deal...Hotel is located right across from the Port Authority on West 40th Street....next morning i will take the taxi down to the terminal....

  11. Hi CruiseLady.... I beleive that you are on the same sailing as myself....the Thanksgiving Day Cruise on November 23, 2015? I originally was booked on the Breakaway for December 13, 2015...and i picked the UBP promo...also bought the UDP....and i lucked out when i changed my reservation...i was grandfathered in with the old gratituty rate, i was not charged the 18% gratituty for the UDP, and i did not pay the 18% gratituty for the UBP....but the rep did tell me, if i were to call up and change my reservation after this change, that I would have to pay the 18% on the UBP promo and my gratituties would go up to 13.50 per day vs. the 12.00 per day that i was going to be paying....

Yes i am happy that i changed over to the Gem....as i was not happy with the itinerary the Breakaway was doing....and i read alot of negative reviews on the ship....also i like smaller ships....and the Gem is doing an excellent itinerary, and plus it is a longer cruise....and we will be in warmer weather longer as well...

Hope to meet you at the meet and greet....i am so excited that there are alot of solo travelers sailing with us....

    See you on November 23rd....

  12. We won't cancel. But this sucks. It was something I thoroughly enjoyed on DCL last year & I'm a huge fireworks fan in general.

    Ugh.

I booked this past March for next May. It seems like every month something is removed or there is a fee increase.

The cruise better be amazing or we'll be one-and-done for NCL.

I am booked on the Breakaway for this coming December 13, 2015....and i am wondering what next will be cancelled, or a price increase before i sail...I have seen the prices increase, taking away niceloldeaon, seeing a charge tacked on for room service....raising the DSC....what will be next? Now the Fireworks Display....which i could take or leave....but it was a nice thing to do...and was looking forward to seeing them, but i am not pouting over it.... what bothers me is, what else is going to happen between now and December....and by then, it will be too late to cancel out the cruise, as my finial payment is due September 29, 2015.... I have a cruise booked for October 15, 2016 on a repositioning cruise on the Gem....and i definitely am thinking on cancelling it, and going back to RCCL..... too many increases to suit me....look at the DSC....they increased that charge twice within the past six months.... what else is going to be increased????

  13. They have the pool, sauna, steam room, salt room, tile loungers and regular loungers. Didn't see anything about the mud ritual. I think it's $199 for the week but I could be wrong. That was last march not sure about now but it was really nice. I had a spa balcony so didn't have to buy the pass but one day when I was in there someone wanted to buy one at the desk and they were told they were sold out.

Hi i am in a spa mini suite on the Breakaway in December.....being as you have sailed in a spa mini suite can you tell me about the room itself....was it noisy or any vibrations..... i am in spa mini suite 14160....... would appreciate any information that you can give to me...

  14. My 10/11/15 cruise was changed to 3:00 - WTH?

My cruise on the Breakaway going to florida/bahamas on December 13, 2015 ...orginal time getting into Port Canaveral was 12:00 .....just was changed getting into Port Canaveral 1:00.... just noticed this when i went into my vacation summary..... feel bad for the passengers taking excursions to either Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or Sea World..... not alot of time to enjoy the parks..... i dont have anything special planned...maybe just take the shuttle into Ron Jon's...and get some things i need at walgreens.... then go back to ship and enjoy the pool area for the rest of the afternoon...

  15. Did you look at the cost of your gratuities on your MYNCL. Some are saying that their's say $12.

I also received an email about the increase of the gratituties...I am sailing this coming December on the Breakaway...As long as you prepay your gratituties before your final payment, you can still pay at the old rate of $12 per day...I confirmed this with NCL....and that is all that they are getting from me...nothing more, or nothing less...

  16. Did NCL send this to you regarding your December cruise? I sail a couple of weeks before that and don't have anything?

I am sailing December 13, 2015 on ncl Breakaway, and i just received the email today about the increase in gratituties....if you prepay your gratitities before final payment it will stay at the old rate...but if you chose not to, then the new gratituty is $13.50 per day up to a mini suite....and $15.50 for all Haven Guests....I should say that any cruise that was book before July 30, 2015 can prepay their gratitities at the old rate but it has to be done before final payment.....

You should be receiving an email from NCL shortly.....i had received mine earlier today....

  17. I am pretty sure that they are going to have a meet and greet get together from CC..... as far as any sailaway get togethers, i really do not know....I was just trying to find out if anyone has sailed on deck 14 in a spa mini suite....Me, i did not do my homework, when i booked this cabin....and then to find out that i am below the pool deck.....i called to try and change to a different category, but no luck....ncl prices went sky high....so i am staying put....was told that these cabins, have a lot of noise being as the pool deck is above us, and all vibrations....

  18. I was the opposite of most people. I liked the food a lot not so much the show. I think kids would like it much more. I left before desert.

I am going on the Breakaway this coming December, and i am thinking of booking the Cirque show....would you happen to know the current prices for the show....and is there a big difference between the standard and the premimum seats? I read on this thread that the tickets for premimum seats are $95....is this true....how much are the standard seats....read that they are in booths...how many people to a booth? I have the UDP....so if i were to book, would i get the 25% discount? do you see the discount on the ticket right away.... as i am opening up a cash account with ncl..

  19. I have never done a CTN on NCL...our first is booked on the Breakaway in December. I'm glad I'll get to experience one NCL CTN from NY. I'll be keeping my eye on it. I hope they don't cancel that one, too!

I am booked on the ncl breakaway for the CTN December 11, 2016.....I hope that the December CTN is not cancelled.... i am so much looking forward to it....plus i will be staying on for the 7 night cruise as well.....

  20. Cabin 10097 - Cabin Interior 191.8 sq ft (24.2 sq ft bathroom + 167.6 sq ft living space). Balcony is 42.0 sq ft. Shower only.

Hi Brett: Could you give all the interior cabins on the MSC Divina that have a square inside in them? I know that 12193 has a square footage...but can you give me the other interior cabins that have square footage as well....and what category will this be considered as..... considering in taking another MSC Divina cruise and would like to experience an interior cabin that has square footage....

I had done an interior cabin before on MSC Divina but was put in a small interior cabin which to me was too confining...

  21. looking to take this cruise for this location in nov. 2015, has anyone out there done this? How are the shows and the dinning room also the casino Thanks for any input you can give us, we are two senior citizens

Hi... I sailed the MSC Divina back in October of 2014 to the Eastern Caribbean on a 7 night sailing...First of all let me tell you that this ship is esqusite....when you walk onto the ship and enter in the atrium you will be in awe...It is beautiful....everything shines, it is so clean....and the swvorski staircase is goregous....

There are plenty of activities for you to enjoy....you can a planner in your room the night before for all the activities occurring the following day....there is something for everyone....

The rooms are very nicely appointed....I myself had a balcony room which was beautiful....had a queen sized bed....plenty of storage....a full size sofa and coffee table, with a nice size vanity and TV....the balcony was a good size balcony with two chairs and a small table....

The food on the MSC Divina was delicious....there are two main dining rooms the Crab Tree and the Villa Rossa....you get a set dinining time to dine....plenty of choices to choose from...also you have the buffet which is excellent....and the pizza is to die for....it is made right in front of you...and different choices of pizza to choose from...also you can get a pizza made to order with a choice of all different types of toppings....they have a few specialty restaurants as well....which is a charge....I ate in the Eately Steakhouse....albsolutely enjoyed my meal there.... also on the other side is the Eately Italian Restaurant....

The shows are fanonimal....a different show every night....even have an opera...i didn't think i was going to enjoy this.....but it turned out to be excellent....all shows had a standing ovation...that is how good they are....they are a little different than the common las vegas shows you sometimes see on different lines....but throughly enjoyable....all i can stay is that they have the best entertainment at sea.....Top Notch!!!!

Yes there are children....but they are well contained and taken care of....you really never see them...and if there are some...very well behaved....

Only thing that i do have to say is that their customer service are sometimes very kirt..... but by far....the ones that i have dealt with were very courteous to me...

Be aware, though, when you do check in, and you give your credit card to set up an account, make sure that you do notify your bank that you will be going out of the country and be setting your card up with an account aboard the ship....this ship deals with a european back from paris, france, and anything that you do purchase aboard the ship....the transactions get processed through there european bank, and they in turn bill your credit card.....this is very important....make sure that you set your account up with at least $300....because if you dont, they will put a hold of $150 on your card....and if you go over that before the cruise ends.....they automatically put another $150 hold on the account....and this is done from there bank in paris, france.... i ran into a problem......as i was running low on the account....and they automatically put another hold on my credit card... my credit card thought that the merhcant was putting frauntlly charges on my card, and suspended the card....and i was detainted on the ship, until the matter was cleared...this put a bad taste in my mouth at the time....but the credit card was just looking out for me....so as i say, first notify the credit card that you will be going out of the country....and once checked in, go to guest services and set up your account with at least $300....anything left over, should be returned to you on your credit card....

The reason that i am telling you this, is because this has happened to a few other passengers that has sailed the MSC Divina.....read through the cruise critic message boards on MSC Divina......It is a very embarassing thing to happen, and at that time the lady at the customer service desk was very rude to me....in order for me to leave the ship i had to return the last item that i had purchased on the ship......

I will be sailing the MSC Divina again in 2016....but i will not check in with a credit card this time....i will be opening up a cash account with $500...and anything that is not used...all i have to do is go down to customer service at the end of the cruise...and i will get back any money that was not spent....Really i do not want to go through, what i went through the last time...

Hope that this information has helped you in deceideing to sail on the MSC Divina....you will have a lovely time....Happy Cruising!!!
