I loved your review on the MSC Divina.... I also was on the ship this past December, and i am going on her again October 4th of this year... This time i have a balcony cabin on Deck 11 cabin number 11151.... this is a B2 category...will my cabin be basically set up like yours? Also did your cabin have a sofa or chair with table? Reason i am asking is when i went on her in December i had a Cat. 2 Inside room... my friend had a Cat. 1 inside room...and the demensions on her cabin were larger than mine....she had a chair and table....where as mine it had nothing.... definitely her room was larger than mine...and i paid a higher price than she... was talking to some people across the hall from me, they told me even though they have a balcony cabin that their room was small also with no sofa or chair or table in it... Do you happen to know the difference in all of the categories....and also my cabin 11151 is this considered mid ship?

  2. I bought my drink packages over the phone and my credit card was already charged

I booked the allesgrissmo premimum package through my TA.... she had to call MSC up directly and book the package with them... no gratituty was added it was all included in the one price....and yes my credit card was billed immediately upon booking...

  3. As you can see from the image your cabin will be affected by the shadow from the overhang of deck 14 when the sun is high in the sky; ie the middle of the day, but at other times there should be sun on your balcony if the ship is facing the right w

Your correct about the limited , but mnot too muvh when looking towards the stern

Hope this is the info you wanted

    Pete

Hi Pete, can you tell me if my cabin which is balcony cabin 11151 is blocked by a overhang? Can you show me exactly where my cabin 11151 is located, as it is also a balcony cabin...

We're on the same Feb 5 - 15 Luminosa trip. Having been to all the ports before, and to some several times before, we now simply walk or take a public bus to the nearest good beach... sometimes we take a taxi and ask for a short taxi tour, but generally now we never book ship's excursions. Here's why:

1- I like to talk to the drivers and find one who I understand. I particularly like to find a driver who has visited Canada or has been to Toronto's Caribana Festival. That makes us instant pals!

2- Way too many ship's excursions seem to get cancelled last minute.

3- Sometimes it's overcast or raining and you don't want to be locked into a pre-paid excursion.

4- Follow the crew members - they always know where the cheap spots are or the closest beaches.

5- Nice to take long hikes away from the normal touristy areas.

Now to explain the pool noodles: We always stop in at a Walgreens or Wal Mart pre-cruise and buy some pool noodles to take on-board. It helps us find each other on the beach and we like to simply bob around in the sea. When the cruise is over, we just give the noodles to some kid on the final beach! So, if you have no idea what to do or where to go in any port on this iteinerary....

6- Follow Fred and Lily and the pool noodle gang!

I am taking the same sailing in February of next year....my itinerary says that it is going to freeport, jamaica, grand cayman, princess cays...not grand turk...which i woulld like to go to Grand Turk better, as i have never been there.... this my first time sailing costa...and i am quite confused of the difference in the cabins...and in the dining...can you explain to me the difference between the clasic and the premimum cabin? and as far as dining, do they have anytime dining, or is it two set dining times....

  5. [/

    FONT]

What is the difference between a classic or premimum cabin? also i was reading that you have to pay for room service breakfast...is this true...on other lines room service is free...but after 12 midnight if you wish to order something from room service there was a $3.95 charge...also how does the dining reservations work?

And as far as the drink packages go, can someone tell me how much they cost in American Dollars.... I am considering on sailing this line....next year...and i need some insite information....first time sailing Costa....

    Would appreciate some information....

    Thank You

  6. Caribe Hilton does not always offer day passes. Call or e-mail them with your date to see.

From either dock, you would need to take a taxi there or to any beach area.

Day-visiting ships dock right in Old San Juan.

So then what you are telling me, is that the MSC Divina will be docking at the pier in Old San Juan? Have you ever done the Beach Day Pass at the Caribe Hilton? This was the only hotel that i could find that offers this... it was a real good deal... yes i will definitely both email and call them to find out if they offer this pass in October, when i will be there... Also can you tell me is the Caribe Hilton from from the pier in Old San Juan.... I realize i probably will have to take a taxi there....approximately do you think a taxi would cost me?

  7. I am going on a cruise on the MSC Divina October 4, 2014, and i would like to know what pier the ship docks at?

I want to book an independent excursion to the Caribe Hilton for the day...the ship docks in at 8am and leaves at 4pm... Is this hotel near to where the ship docks in?

Sorry i want to know what pier the MSC Divina docks in at San Juan Puerto Rico... is it in Old San Juan...or the pier across the bay from Old San Juan

  8. Hi there,

We are booked on Divinia in October and are really looking forward to it. We've never done MSC before and have read mixed reviews about the availability of food/tea/coffee. Is Divinia quite different from RCCL in this way? Thank you and enjoy!!

Hello I have sailed the Divina back this past December...I found the divina to be better than RCCL...you can get coffee in dining rooms (free of charge) and the coffee is delicious...I know that you will enjoy it as much as I have...I will be sailing the divina again October 4th sailing....and the time isn't coming fast enough..

  9. 'Are we able to utilize the Premium Drink Package on Great Stirrup Cay Beach Bars? When we went on Carnival, the drink package was not able to be used on Half Moon Cay. I was wondering if MSC has the same policy.'

Good question! I called MSC and they said they'd email me about just that, can we use our ship card,/drink pkge,/or vouchers on Gr. Stir. Cay, but they haven't got back to me!

So I will also ask any previous cruiser that visited the private island on MSC Divina, how did MSC handle drinks on the island?

Yes, you are allowed to use the drink package on the beach island....I went to half moon cay on Divina last month, and we were able to take advantage of the drink package on the island...

  10. I'm currently on Davina. Just posting some quick notes. Beautiful ship. Service can be better in the dining room. I think they are still learning, but it's a challenge. Some servers are better then others as I have sat at 2 tables.

Bar service had been really great. There are a few who are also still learning, but once you find the best bartenders service has been amazing. Hint, look for the Caribbean island bartenders, they know what they are doing. Lots of waiters and waitresss working the bar and pool areas, unlike my last Celebrity cruise.

Premium Drink package has been amazing.

Buffet is really not bad, people need to realize it runs both sides and go way back. The back has been empty when the front has been swamped. So if your looking for seats go all the way down, easier to fine. The best pizza I have had on a cruise ship.

The shows are very good and should not be missed.

I'm in a inside cabin, enough space for 2, still small. My pillows are the lumpiness things on earth. Bad pillows in my room. Americans are use to having bars of soap and wash cloths. No bars of soap available, wash cloths on request.

Another thing I dislike with the room is, you have to leave your card key in the switch as you enter the room for full power. Also if you have a spare key, and you leave it in the door and leave, they will not makeup the room as they think the room is occupied and will not disturb you.

If anyone have questions, I will do my best to respond.

Hi i am going to be going on the MSC Divina again this October 4, 2014...was on her in december for the 3 night sailing.... how are the daytime activities on the ship? Is there a lot to do? I had the allegrismo drink package in december, and yes it works out very well...i am going to be doing it again in October.....

I had an inside cabin #11208....and yes my cabin was small as well, although i did meet someone and they were on deck 5 inside cabin, and their cabin was larger than mine...In October i booked an Outside Cabin on deck 8...and i am hoping that it is larger than what i had in December, as i am bringing my grandson with me.... the thing that annoyed me, is when you put your card in the slot to turn on power....and when you go to bed, you take it out...but the light that is near to closet, always stays on, and it was very hard to get to sleep....he explained to me what to do, but i didn't quite understand him, as their was a language gap between us.....

Other than that i loved the ship, the food, entertainment, the staff, crew...the ship is amazing and magnificent..... i cannot wait for October to arrive, so i can go back on her to the eastern caribbean....:)

  11. Hello, i am going to be sailing the Norweigian Gem this coming December on a nine night sailing...going to San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Tortola...

I booked an inside cabin on deck 5....cabin 5069... the price was right and i could not resist it... Was wondering if anyone has sailed the Norweigian Gem in cabin 5069.... if so, can you tell me how you liked the cabin.... i didn't realize when i booked the cabin, that there are public rooms above this deck...like the bars.... if anyone has sailed in this cabin, can you tell me if there was any noise...

Thank you, looking forward to a reply...also can you give me your opinions on the ship... i havent sailed Norweigian in many years....

    Cathy:)

  12. Your question kinda got lost in the melee....:o

I think it would be a great idea to tae your grandson on the cruise!

There will be some kids, but not as many as a "normal" cruise. While the kids clubs ARE open, it might be better just to spend the time together being that its only one night.

I've done this twice myself...I took one grandson (4 1/2yo at the time) on a 3-day Bahamas cruise, and I just recently took two grandsons (6 1/2yo and 3 1/2yo) on a 2-day CTN. The kids had a BLAST!

Just realize that your time will be spent sitting in a lounge chair next to the kiddie pool. (Not that theres anything wrong with that).

Thank you so much for your advice.... do you know if there are any one night cruises on norwegian gem.... besides the one in January?

  13. Come on - its listed right there in the terms and conditions - on NCL's site.

    http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/Ultimate-Beverage-Package01032014.pdf

If people don't bother to click on and read the T&C, well, then... we know how this song goes.

Hello i would like some advice. I am considering taking my grandson on the one night cruise to see and introduce him to cruising. He is eight years old.... do you think that there will be other children onboard, or basically this is just a cruise for grown ups..... I just thought that this would be good for him, as i am considering taking him on a seven night sailing with me, and this would be a good idea to see if he likes cruising...

  14. I wanted to give back to all who helped me w/my many questions before sailing. Thanks! I can't tell you how much we enjoyed the Divina. We are anxious to do another MSC sailing!

Review is a bit sporadic, but wanted to post it asap.

-Night before cruise....Stayed at Miami Doral area hotel with $12 shuttle to port and free parking for 11 nights. Good friendly service, clean, walk to restaurants.

-Took 11am shuttle, porters took bags and we were given numbered cards to board in sequence. On board about 12:15. Cabin ready. Room Steward wonderful. Asked for robes, ice, more hangars, etc. Nice size balcony with 2 chairs and stool. Flat screen TV. Could use more US channels. Plenty of storage including under bed.

-Most all problems referred to on Boards and Reviews have been taken care of. The only negative I can remember that turned into a positive was that our Allegrissimo Classic code wasn't on our card although we ordered online months ago. I was told to go to the Service Desk, Deck 5. The clerk told me to go to the Restaurant. When I arrived the Mgr. personally walked me back to the Service Deck and had them change my card. After that no problems with Allegrissimo. It did seem that some of the bartenders still weren't too familiar with making some drinks, but there was always a head bartender there to help out. Really not much of a wait at all! Wines on Allegrissimo classic package were fine for us!

-No rudeness encountered at all except from one bar waitress who argued loudly with our wonderful wait staff in front of us. We mentioned this to her and she came back to apologize to us for her actions. Didn't experience the pushing and shoving that I had read about.

-Food: Buffet was really good with varied items. The Ethnic, cheeses and other "fancier" food items are in the back buffet. Easy seating there also. Most people just get food from front area and sit there so that area is busier.

French toast, sausages at breakfast and other selections very good. Eggs and bacon not so good.

Dinner items were mostly very good. There were very few items that we didn't care for. Plenty of choices though, extra and special orders also fine.

Loved the lobster tails, juicy and extras offered. Shrimp cocktail good. Tiramisu and Baked Alaska ceremonies by waiters fun. Wait staff sensational. No problem getting drinks or wine at dinner table. Horseradish, hot red pepper, etc. also not a problem!

Coffee was fine...No problem with cups, milk, etc.

Servers walked around buffet to get drinks or coffee for us if we didn't want to go to bar ourselves.

Muster was at 5pm. Sailaway first night was 7pm. We decided to skip 7pm show to watch sailaway with friends. No music at sailaway except for on the movie screen. That was a bit disappointing.

Shows were the best I've ever seen except for comedian on last night. Standing ovations most nights.

Lounge entertainment including dueling pianos, bands and duets were fabulous. The entertainment staff really worked hard, were friendly and we felt like friends by time we disembarked.

The sheets, pillows and mattress could be improved upon.

Bar staff were friendly and we never had a bad drink. However, it seemed that the newer bartenders had to get instruction from the main bartender on quite a few occasions. Not a big deal. No big delays getting drinks. On certain gala nights (3 gala nights on 11 night cruise!) there were free drinks for an hour for those not on Allegrissimo package.

Pizza at buffet was pretty good.

Few children on this cruise. Some still went to Infinity Pool in back of ship, but well behaved. We saw the +18 Solarium, but didn't think we needed to go there. Chairs always available at pools and nearby.

They had a white party on the deck, an Italian theme night (red/white/green) and a flower 60's party. Some guests dressed up in appropriate theme.

Interesting seeing flying fish while onboard at many ports.

Bananas for breakfast were abundant in beginning of cruise, then "spotted" in middle of cruise and then non-existent at end of cruise. Not a big deal, but I thought this was odd.

Many of my friends had purchased the drink vouchers online and this worked well for them also.

Exercise - Did the Aqua Bikes and DH did regular spin class. Really enjoyed both. Also did FREE Stretch, aerobic and zumba classes...Fun. The gym wasn't that crowded so DH worked out there daily also.

Infinity Pool was never filled to edge. I heard that this was because water flowed onto aft decks. Not sure about this though. Still a nice place to chill out away from main pools.

We were told to be out of cabin at 7am. Breakfast from 6 - 8 buffet and restaurant. Our colored luggage tags said 9:30 so we had to wait in theatre for awhile after breakfast. Then someone came for our group, directed us to baggage carousel...Luggage came quickly. Customs took about half an hour.

Dance lessons, wine tasting, astronomy seminars, trivia available.

Drink servers always available, but not pushy at all. Announcements in one language except for muster. Very few announcements.

    Ports

Falmouth - Time N Place Beach (never got there - more info on Jamaica board..If they get their transportation straightened out, this would be a good stop. We decided to just shop....the pool at Margaritaville still in progress)

Aruba - Took van ($3 each) from port to Eagle Beach. Beautiful beach...Not much else there. Water cooler than in Florida!

Curacao - Got prearranged taxi to Porta Mari beach to snorkel...Best snorkeling ever...easy to enter beach...Beach bar....Great excursion.

    Panama - stayed on ship.

Cozumel - Went on Bar Hop to 4 or 5 beaches on West side with no electricity. Fabulous time...Waves like Hawaii....Fun time!

I loved having port days with sea days inbetween.

Thanks for a wonderful cruise, MSC!

    Barbara

Hi Barbara.... I read your review on the MSC Divina...I was on the Divina on the 3 night sailing on December 7, 2013....I throughly enjoyed myself...I also had the Allesgrissmo Preminum Package and it worked out very well. Only had one incident happen to me....I had ordered a drink from the bar when i first boarded...and they didn't read my card properly, and they billed me for the drink....I had told her that i had the Allesgrissmo Package, and she voided out the bill....yes you have to watch, as there are alot of new people on the ship, and i guess they still are not familiar with the different packages...Other then that, i had a wonderful time..

I saw all of the shows, which were fantastic....Witches of Paris, Abbracadabra, Starwalker, Wonderland.....all got standing ovations....best shows at sea i have seen in a long time, and i am an avid cruiser....

Food was delicious...both in the buffet, and in the dining room....being as this was only a 3 night cruise....we had the tirasumu but not the baked alaska.... but we did have shrimp cocktail, escargot, prime rib, lasagna bolgonese..which i pigged out on.....loved it...i was in seventh heaven....

Entertaintment....and activities..... were all over the ship....in the evening...you walked from one lounge to another...and there was music playing all over....Barbara, on your cruise, did they offer playing bingo, because on the 3 night cruise they did not.... we also had the flower party, white party, carnival night, and one formal evening....the ship was decorated all up for Christmas..... we even seen a wedding being performed by the Captain and his officers, in the atrium, which was beautiful....She looked like a princess...

My cabin was an inside cabin on deck 11....it was on the small side....but i was sailing by mself so it suited me fine...but this lady was telling me she was on deck 5, in a category 1, and she told me that she had a sofa, plus a chair and little table in her room, which i did not...she also was sailing solo, and hers was a guarantee cabin.....mine cabin was a category 2....so i guess that the inside cabins are all different sizes..... mine cabin you could not put a chair or a little table in it, as it was that small... but it was nice and cozy...

I booked another MSC Cruise for October 4, 2014 going on a 7ngt sailing to the Eastern Caribbean... I am taking my grandson this trip with me....This is a gift to him from me, as he is making his holy communion in May 2014...He has never been on a cruise, so i deceided to take him with me.... This trip i got an Oceanview Cabin on deck 9..... I loved MSC and i know that they will get my business alot....Liked the idea drinks were not pushed on you.... even at the private island that we went to....there were no crew walking all over, pushing drinks, you had to go to the bar and purchase them.... the buffet on the island consisted of only hamburgers, or hot dogs, with french fries, pasta salad, and desserts... which was fine....island we stopped at was half moon cay.....beautiful island....better than cococay......as there were no rocks at all...just pure white sand....water was crystal clear....

what other activities did they offer on the 11 night cruise during the daytime and evening?:)

  15. Hi Catherine,

We look forward to seeing you onboard MSC Divina on December 7th. The entertainment varies from cruise to cruise, but there are 7 production shows that could be selected from. There will definitely be bingo and other activities to participate in as well.

    Regards,

Hi thanks Jay for the information....maybe you would know, but the bingo on the ship, do you know how much it is, and do you have to buy a package...or you can buy individual cards? Well i am getting really excited now, as it is only a week away now.... will be down at ship terminal about 12 noon....depending if the shuttle service will be picking up alot more people at ft. lauderdale airport.....but will be down early...:)

  16. Hi Jay,

Here are some photo highlights from the debut cruise of MSC Divina from PortMiami! Enjoy and we hope to see you onboard soon! :)

Hello thank you for the very nice pictures taken aboard the MSC Divina...I will be sailing her December 7th for the 3 night getaway...pictures were very helpful...the ship looks amazing...will there be fireworks you think on the December 7th sailing? Also can you tell me some of the activities they will have onboard...will they have bingo? also what kind of entertainment.... I booked this cruise, as i wanted to see what the ship is like...as i will be sailing her again in October 4, 2014...this is my first MSC cruise....

  17. This is for the 3 night "US Inaugural" only

not sure if all 3 nights or just the first night

from what we hear, they will have the fireworks and "free Divatini" cocktails as we sail away - so I think they had to push the dine times back

supposedly also lot of photo opps with the entertainers, officers, "

big wigs" on this cruise too

Yeah I am getting excited to check her out :)

Hi i am sailing the MSC Divina on the 3 night getaway December 7, 2013... will the fireworks and free divatini cocktails be offered on this sailing as well? What time do you think that they are going to let us board the ship? I am going to get down to port of miami around 11:30-12 noon... hopefullly they are going to let us board early..... as far as the dress is this cruise going to be mostly casual? and will they be having the white party? Because so far i did not pack anything white to wear for this cruise..... I have been trying to find out some reviews on the november 20th sailing, but i havent seen anything posted on it so far.... I am getting so excited to sail her, as i have not sailed MSC Cruise Line before....:)

  18. Hi wotaripper.

I just phoned MSC to discuss the packages on the Aust website.

I was told that the 907 had to be booked in advance but the other beer/wine packages are available for purchase on board.

I was told that even in the "all inclusive package" there would be a charge of 15% on EVERY drink requested.

It defeats the purpose of unlimited drinks if you are charged an extra 15% for each one. Is it meant to be a deterrent?

Could someone tell me what the 411 or 412 packages are. They arent on the Aust website and the girl I spoke to knew nothing about them ( nor appeared interested in finding out )

    Cheers

    Skipal

Hello....I am sailing the MSC Divina Decemberf 7, 2013, from the Port of Miami, US...my TA just booked me for the all inclusive drink allegrisimo package, which is $57 American Dollars a day....and was told by MSC that everything is included from cocktails, frozen drinks, all draft and bottled beer, juices, canned sodas, wine by the glass, fresh squeezed orange juice, all specialty coffees....and the 15% gratituty of each drink is included in the price of the package.... so i am sorry but you have it wrong when you say that they are going to tack on the 15% gratuity for each drink purchased from the package....

  19. I had the same problem with Travelocity. I simply called MSC and had my e-docs within 24 hrs. We sail on Nov. 30 and I was getting pretty nervous!

Hi i was wondering if you can answer me a question. I am sailing Divina on December 7th....I did the web check in with MSC...and printed it out...now this piece of paper...is this the declaration form that we give to immigration, or do we hand over this piece of paper to the check in agent when we check in.

I already received my E-Docs and luggage tags, but am confused what this other piece of paper is for when i did web check in with MSC....:)

  20. Does MSC send you luggage tags and documents? I booked with Travelocity and did the web check in at MSC's site, printed off that, do I need something else from MSC? I am sailing on 12/10/13 and I've noticed people talking about receiving edocs. Thanks in advance. :D

Hi i am sailing MSC Divina December 7th, and i just got my E-Docs...that is your cruise ticket and luggage tags... I did the web check in with MSC but i am confused what this paper is for. Do we had this paper to the check in agent, or onboard the ship...as the top of the piece of paper say for onboard. I guess we will find out when we check in..... I am excited as this is my first time sailing this cruise line...I have mainly sailed RCCL...so it should be very interesting to see how the two cruise lines compare....:)

  21. Thanks much to all for your answers. I have been their on Carnival before, just was not sure it was the same island. I know all the out islands are very beautiful.

I will post on the Dec 7 roll call.

Hi, i am sailing the MSC Divina also on December 7th, 2013, and yes we are stopping an little san salvador, which is Half Moon Cay.. I have been to RCCL private island plenty of times CoCo Cay....and it is very rocky there getting into the water. Is it the same at Half Moon Cay, or is it nice and sandy?:)

  22. Actually - we plan to rent a cabanette for the mats and upgraded lunch. We’ll may likely sit in an area, under palms, closer to the water access. We’ve been to Coco Cay dozens of times and while it is always nice, the island lunch does got a little “old” after so many cruises. This way, we’ll have the mats ( I generally rent one anyway), an upgraded lunch, and if we stay on the Cabana Club beach, perhaps a smaller quieter beach area. Worth it for us, but perhaps not for everyone.

I don’t recall asking for any opinions if the cabanette were actually needed

Hi, was reading your thread...about renting a cabinette... is this good for one person? and would you happen to have a picture of one, or could you explain to me what a cabinette actually is? was is included...and how much is the cost for the day...:)

  23. We are considering a MSC Divina Caribbean cruise. Are there water slides for our kids (ages 11 & 9)? What is the music and entertainment like on the ship? Night clubs? I've heard the ship is beautiful, but not sure that it will suit our needs. We just sailed the Carnival Breeze in Feb and LOVED it.

I am sailing the MSC Divina on December 7, 2013 for the short getaway... this is my first time sailing this line... maybe u should try the short getaway and see how u like it.....rather than book a 7 night cruise, and find out that the cruise didn't suit your needs... Ive heard from different people, that MSC is more European cusine.... entertainment is excellent.... food is good.... but a different flair than the cruise ships that you are use to.... but i am giving it a try.... with an open mind....again i am sailing solo...so it is kind of different...but for the price you cannot go wrong...and it is a brand new ship.... as i said at the beginning....try out the short getaway on december 7th....for 3 nights....goes to nassau...and their private beach island.... see how you like it..... i am also sailing the MSC Divina on March 15, 2014 for the 7ngt eastern caribbean.....also an answer to your other question if the ship has waterslides.....yes they do.....and i believe a water park... so the kids will be entertained.... only thing is that when they make announcements it will be in 5 different languages... which doesnt bother me... i would think that the entertainment will be good, and have the usual caribean parties on deck etc...also has a big movie screen on the pool deck.... it looks like a gorgeous ship....what u can do is google photos of the MSC Divina.....you can view all the photos of the ship....... Hope to see u onboard.....:)
