  1. If your phone is in Airplane Mode, and you are using WiFi calling, you won't be charged for incoming calls, even if you answer them.

    Thank you.

Turning on airplane mode is the only way to turn off cellular (calling).

Yes I see what you mean now. I was confusing cellular calls and text with cellular data.

  2. See comments in RED above.

Thank you, Bob. Yes that was what I meant.

I plan to buy the unlimited internet package and I want to use WiFi calling on the ship but I do not want to be charged for incoming calls that I do not pick up. Is there a way to do that? If so what should I do?

Not sure if it’s relevant but I have AT&T (sorry I know this thread is supposed to be about t mobile) and iPhone.

  3. In the UK they have never allowed obc offers to be combined with Diamond balcony discount.

I book from the US and always book directly and I don’t think I have ever had more than $50 OBC. :loudcry:

Any sale that includes an "instant discount". In other words, say Royal is selling a balcony stateroom for $1000. They decide they want to lower the price for non C&A members, so they add an "instant discount" of $100. This is not combinable with the balcony discount, so they now have a way to extend a discount to non C&A members.

Thanks! Now you mention it I remember seeing those. But I usually get better prices when I am logged on and thought the savings were baked in. Guess not.

  4. My issue the last time on Grandeur earlier this year was that the connection kept cutting out and that was not normal. If the connection was stable, I could have easily watched a lot more movies and shows off of Hulu and Netflix. Surprisingly, these apps adapt to the slow speed quite well. Playing by itself is not an issue. Its the initial buffering that takes longer than usual. Also, if you tend to like to fast forward through certain scenes, or scrubbing, this also is annoyingly slow because when you do that, it has to buffer again, but if you hit play and let it go, you can usually watch things without any issue whatsoever. (like trying to skip the intro of the show). Its probably better to just let it run, then try to skip it and waste time rebuffering. You should lower the quality to minimum while using the system though.

That’s good to know. Thank you.

  5. It's about the same in speed, but much slower in real world performance (due to much higher latency).

    Yes, most of the time.

Each service has an Stream bandwidth limit of 5Mbps for a guest device. However O3b can handle many more data streams and has a much lower latency. In other words, you are much more likely to get your 5Mbps on an O3b ship than on a non-O3b ship.

    Thank you.

I thought about switching to surf only since surf and stream might not be able to realistically support watchable streaming but I think i will stick to the surf and stream plan and hope for the best.

  6. It's usually better to buy pre-cruise. Pre-cruise prices change all the time, there is no "regular" pre-cruise price.

    On board prices:

Thank you, Bob, do you know which ships have O3b and which don’t? (Not that I understand what I am asking ;p)

Kept watching my cruise planner, and ended up with 2 devices for the price of one @$18.99 or $9.49 each for surf and stream. So far that is the cheapest I found. Still looking to improve :)

I think I will reserve. If the prices get lower I can always ask for repricing till 3 days prior to sailing. :)
