  1. I am currently onboard the Getaway and the gym staff confirmed there are no shower facilities for the gym.

They told me only guests who purchase a spa pass have access to the showers.

There are small separate men's and ladies bathrooms with two sinks and two toilet stalls and about 10 lockers to store items in each for gym use. I am surprised they wouldn't include showers or changing areas for the gym.

  2. So what did you do for the rwcirculated air you are breathing the while flight?

The recirculated air is something I obviously can't control.

However, I never touch my mouth, nose, eyes while out anywhere unless I absolutely have to and only then if I have a tissue as a barrier.

I cringe when I see people rubbing their eyes out in public or touching their mouth/ nose with hands that have obviously touched carts, door handles, common surfaces etc. Then people can't figure where they got a cold or whatever... from their germy hands and fingers.

  3. I always take a pack of Lysol Wipes with me and wipe down the cabin as soon as we enter.

I wipe down the table, vanity, night stands, remotes, door handles, light switches, and bathroom counter, sink, and toilet seat/ flush button. I wipe down pretty much anything we will touch .

It takes less than 5 minutes and gives me a little piece of mind.

*Side note: I do this on planes too ( wipe my armrests, seat belt buckles, and tray table) and saw quite a few other people doing this around me on a flight last month.

  4. Hi,

I am leaving on the Getaway on Sunday. I have read that there is a Seafood Buffet one night, but haven't been able to find out exactly which night.

As we are planning dinner reservations for certain nights, do any recent cruisers on Getaway remember exactly which night the Seafood Buffet was?

I have searched the forum and been unable to figure out the night.

    Thank you in advance.

  5. They are from the complimentary restaurants... Taste, Savor and Tropicana. They all share the same menus. I missed a couple because we went to Illusionarium one evening and Shanghai noodle another. Those were also very good. O'Sheehans was also very good, we went for lunch a couple times and late night wings and nachos. I was impressed with all the food except for the scrambled eggs at the buffet breakfast:eek: Wait for the fresh omelet... Trust me!!

Thank you for these! Very helpful as we board Getaway this Sunday :)

  6. Hello, first time at Cayman Islands. Our plan is to head down to Public Beach beside Calico Jacks for the day.

Is there any grocery/corner stores in the port area ? Or maybe even along the way down to the beach?

We are looking to stock up on a few things for the day. For the kids. And the adults...:)

    Thanks for any info

    Cheers

Foster's Food Fair is another large supermarket that has hot deli items as well. It is right next to the Ritz in the Strand Plaza and on the way to the public beach/ Calico's. Blackbeard's Beer, Wine & Spirits is also located in the same plaza.

  7. Which tour did you do? I'd love to stay at the beach until sunset and see the disco lights!

We did the East Side Tour. Our tour started at 3pm since the Carnival Breeze docked around 2pm.

You will have a fabulous time!

  8. Wow! A 3 hour wait?!? What time did you arrive and begin your wait?

We arrived around 12pm on 1/30/16 and there were already thousands of people waiting outside in line. Broward County Sheriff Deputies kept the line organized for hours that day. Luggage handlers said they had never had seen anything like that at the port.

We did not get on board until after 3:30pm on the 1/30/16.

RC blamed the problem on the port in announcements throughout the week. When we debarked yesterday, we asked port workers what had happened and they said it was 100% the cruise lines fault and were not suprised to see the blame put on the port.

Who knows what really happened or whose fault it was, but it was definitely inconvenient for us passengers made to wait outside for hours that day.

  9. Hi

I am after a little advice. We are a couple in our late 30's.

We were booked on Harmony of the seas in July for a week from Barcelona, but worked out after flights and hotel the same amount of money could be spent on independence of the seas / Navigator of the seas from Southampton for 14 days around the same time. So we are planning to change our booking. I know we might lose our deposit, but was only £50 each.

My partner's family are also going.

Her sister (35) is now single, and so looking to share room with her parents (in their late 60's) I see you can have 3 adults in a cabin, but how practical is this for 14 nights. I assume families do this with children. I did look for a single cabin for her, but they want £3k for 1 person for an inside cabin which works out more than 2 people sharing!.

So we are a party of 5. 2 adults (in 60's), sister (35) and myself and my partner (late 30's). I have done a lot of P&O cruises before, but they had never cruised until last year when we went on anthem of the seas for 4 nights and loved it!

So 2 questions and sorry if too much info ;-)

    1. Would you go on Navigator of the seas or independence of the seas? The only thing leading me to navigator of the seas is that I think it has the Zoom high speed internet we got on Anthem of seas (which was amazing!) plus had a newer refit.

    2. Advice on 3 adults in an inside or balcony cabin? Do you get another bed or do you sleep on the sofa?

    Thanks

I just got off the Independence of the Seas today. I am around the same age as your sister in law and shared an inside cabin this week with my parents who are the same age as your in-laws.

My parents got the large bed and I slept on a bunk. The room was a little bit small, but we made it work. There is a sofa that seats 2 people, but it did not open up into a bed in our cabin. We also had a chair at the desk/ vanity.

We saved quite a bit of money going on an inside cabin. It was very do-able for 3 adults to share an inside cabin. My parents would get up earlier and go to breakfast first, so I would use that time to shower and get dressed. By the time they were back, they got use of the room and bathroom and I headed up for breakfast and a walk.

IOS is a lovely ship and the food was good. Although I was able to get wifi on my Amazon Kindle tablet, I was never able to connect to wifi using my iPhone while onboard.

  10. I was on the Allure last week and had no problem logging on to my Iphone, IPad and IPad mini. I could only use one device at a time and was using iOS 9.2.1 software.

I was on the Allure in November and had no issues either on my iPhone. I was able to use Whatapp, Viber, iMessage, and load email and web pages perfectly on Allure while on the iPhone.

Unfortunately, I was never able to get wifi working on my iPhone while on Independence this week. It would never get me to the log in screen and Guest Services and their IT person could never get it to work either. Wifi worked slow, but ok, on my Kindle Fire though. Maybe it is an issue exclusive to Independence of the Seas.

  11. I just remembered something that I had tried when on Liberty of the Seas.

If I couldn't seem to get a login page after connecting to the Wi-Fi, I used Safari to go to logout.com to force the system to ensure I was logged out. Sometimes that helped me get to the login page.

(That said, the internet onboard was dreadful and we had problems connecting unrelated to iOS.)

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me and I'm using the desktops in the computer lounge . There have been lots of people in line at guest services when I have gone with phones , laptops, and tablets that won't bring up the log in page.

  12. Try this

Go to your network connection>modify network>change connection from DHCP to static>use gateway address same as ip address, use dns1=8.8.8.8 and dns2=8.8.4.4. ---------->now you should be able to get to the login page

Thank you. Hopefully this helps the Samsung user onboard.

I tried with my iphone, but I only have 1 DNS entry area for static and tried twice using each number above and no luck with my iphone. Guest services can't get it to work either.

  13. I am currently on the Independence of the Seas and I am currently unable to log into ship wifi with my iphone running iOS 9.2.

Works fine on my Kindle Fire tablet, but I want to use my phone to access wifi dependent applications on the iphone.

Any suggestions for an iphone user would be appreciated. Guest services can't get it to work either.

    Thank you.

  14. This was not an exaggeration or joke. Thousands of people waited hours standing outside in the sun for 3 hours. Broward County Fire Rescue came out twice to attend to people in the line. No OBC given and the attitude by the captain and guest services has been dismissive in regards to the delay. Truly, their response should have been better because even a small amount of $15 OBC would have been an appreciated gesture for the hours we waited in line for a trip that set me back a couple of thousand dollars.

  15. Aaaaaaw! Thanks!

Today in Falmouth, I made sure to stop at a place called Tastee Patty's, otherwise known as Jamaican beef patties. They are a favorite of mine, and this place is amazing! Be sure to try one if you ever find yourself in Jamaica [emoji106]

    Hi,

Just wondering if the patties inside the gated port area are from Tastee or did you have to go into Falmouth? Thank you!

PS: Tastee patties are the best and far superior to any patty I have ever had :)
