I booked about four weeks ago, got my cabin assignment just three days ago, sailing in two days. You do have to check your site , they did not notify me.
-
There are others sites to search for great rates, but you have to checked them constantly. I travel solo, and I am available to sail on a moments notice, so I do pretty good!

Booked a cruise four weeks out, got the cabin assignment five days before sailing (which is this Friday), quite happy with cabin room assignment.

Cruising solo, doing anything on your time table, get up when you want, eat at your leisure, go to the shows that you want to see, and the ports you may enjoy without the "nagging" of others!
-
I agree with showing in the sport bar and in the rooms. Besides the NFL is nothing but cry babies, if you want to see real football SEC rules!

I have cruised with Royal on six occasions and very much enjoyed the experience, but being a "solo" cruiser RCL has raised their rates so high for us "solos", that I decided to give Carnival a try. Well I'M glad I did! Much more bang for the buck! Larger rooms, better prices, love the comedy shows and a much more diversified crowd. Been on the Carnival Liberty back in April of this year and then the following month. I was so impressed with that ship I'm back on it in 10 days for an eight day cruise! Go for it, you won't regret it!

Of course this has always been a subject of great debate, but only you can make the determination on the cost of it. I myself did my first cruise with just a birth certificate, then I got a passport card. Did with it for almost two years, then I also obtain a passport, only because of a possible transatlantic. But I never got carry-away on what could happen!
-
When you get off the ship with more than you went on, it's a good reason to BRAG! Congrats!
-
I've been on the Liberty twice this year, and I've noticed the TV's on several different sporting events each time I went there. Also outside of the lounge there is an electronic board, stating the programs that will be shown each day.

Just booked Carnival Liberty, 8 day $379 + 109 Taxes/fees= $488 on August 1st sailing. No brainer.
-
Just moments ago, I booked 7 nites on the Carnival Glory for $439 plus taxes & fees for a total of $568.00. Feeling good about it!
-
I have been on RCL (Liberty, Enchantment & Monarch), when they offered good SOLO rates, but now it's been Carnival, better solo rates!
-
Just got the "Liberty" carnival, for five days @ 189 plus port/taxes. Out of Port Carnival, May 4th.

It comes down to your own ideas for this, some people will pack cameras, I-pads, laptops, etc, but will not pack Lysol or other wipes/sprays. I have been on a number of cruises and everyone has to take pre-cautions. Spend less time on your electronics and more time on making your trip safe. Don't blame the cruiseline!

Being originally from the Buffalo area I go back often and always get roast beef on weck! I also had the beef on weck on the Enchantment, sorry but no comparison. I have to agree that on the ship it's undercooked. Edible, but nothing to rave about.

I'm going to have problems getting any deals at the moment. I am having disputes in the office about when I can take leave.
I may well take both of my pensions next year and find some part-time or contract work. I may then be able to take cruises when I want them!
I did just that! I left my job six years early, (took a big hit on the pension), but I have back what matter the must, MY LIFE. I never looked back with regret. I do on-call work around my schedule, not the employer.
Life is short, don't regret the time you loss.

Double points could keep prices higher than they have been for solo cruisers.

Just posted for this Monday departure on Enchantment, $102.00 plus taxes/fees, solo rate. Great last minute for those of us in Florida.
-
The Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas is pricing at $203.71 (total solo inside) for a 4 day cruise on September 9th. Not bad if you live close by....
I just booked this 4-day solo, just 181.00 total.
-
Just booked a "short" cruise, 4 days solo, 191.00 w/taxes & fees, Enchantment Mon-Fri. Can't stay home that cheap! Pays to live in the sunshine state.

Down to 2 days!

Following this thread reminds me of the one on "passport" debate.
