1. So wait a minute.....are you trying to tell me that I can pile a plate of food, wrap it up from the Lido deck and take it down to my room???? Won't people look at me crazy taking food to my room on the elevator? Do people do that all the time?? OBVIOUSLY.....I'm a newbie:o....

I do it all the time. I even go back for seconds haha!

  2. I have always thought Carnival was more of the "party line" for couples and singles.

We are considering a cruise with our 7 year old grandson and his parents. Would Carnival be appropriate? We have done Royal Caribbean before with grandchildren who were a bit older.

    Thanks for your input,.

He will be fine, in fact he will probably have a great time! You may have a slightly exaggerated picture of Carnival as a "Party" line. There really is fun for all ages, and there are always lots of kids with plenty to do!

  3. Okay. I'm ready for the onslaught. Dear God Carnival , I just read smoking is allowed in all dance clubs, God help me. So I can't go there , all the boards have commented about the interesting boat layout so I have to go thru smoke filled areas to easley navigate , last year on the Glory I had a great time but missed so much .... How difficult would it really be to go and smoke out the side of the boat where is is allowed and have at least 1 dance club non smoking... I have already resigned myself to no balcony but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the boat, and no don't refer me to a more restrictive cruise line, I want affordable just like everyone else..can't it be 50/50 no smoking in major transit spaces.....I have many friends who do smoke, they have no problem going to a different area, not one of them would have a problem with restrictions okay flame away I am ready

Normally, I do have some negative things to say about smoking complaints (even though I don't smoke myself), but usually those complaints are very petty, and I think you have a very legitimate point here. Allowing large numbers of people to smoke in a single enclosed space, especially a public space, is not very good policy. I don't do the dance clubs, but a space like the casino is not good either. You pretty much cut through there to get wherever you are going and many times I have walked into a huge smoke cloud in there. Maybe they should set up some smoking areas on the weather decks close to those clubs and the casino so people could smoke near them, just not IN them.

  4. Hey all!

Paid for an upgrade from a guarantee inside to a balcony. Had 2441 now have 9411. What do you guys think of 9411? Is it a standard balcony room? How is deck 9?

Our last cruise on the BREEZE we were on deck nine, right next door to your cabin in 9409. We loved the location. We had a standard balcony. We were just one deck below the main pool and the Lido, but we never heard any noise from above. There is a hot tub, and the BBQ place almost directly below so there is a little noise from those, but only during the day. Plus the smell of the BBQ place always made me hungry!

We thought it was a great spot. Loved the BREEZE!

  5. I'm hoping those who've sailed into Miami on the Breeze....or other ships can give an opinion.

Do you think there would be a fairly good chance we could make a 9:30 am flight out of Miami? We are platinum and could be the first ones off the ship?

    THANKS

That's taking a real chance. I would book later.

  6.
We are looking to book Breeze Feb 2015. I have wanted to sail her for a long time but have been nervous about a ship THAT BIG!!! I have never been disapointed with the size of any of my smaller ships.

A little back story. We are experienced cruisers, not saying we dont have lots to learn but with 47 days at sea under our belts we have a good feel on what to expect - just not on the BIG ships! We are looking at the 6 day sailing. I'm not overly excited with the ports so this sailing will be booked mainly for the ship and a week away from MN winter. Other 7 day sailing will cost us the same if not less ;) but this is BREEZE we are talking about.

    So I need some advice.

    - where is a good location for your state room? We are not too picky and normally booked cheap(er) rooms. With a ship this size I'm sure location means a lot.

    - we are a family of 3 but would love to book a quad room. We need the couch for extra seating. We booked a triple last time and when we where all in the room it was not comfortable seating arrangements. Do all catagories have coouches on this ship?

    - This ship offers Spa rooms - worth it? We are not Spa people actually have set foot in the ships spa once in 9 sailings. Though if we get a spa room we just might learn to love it?

    - How will I be nickled and dimed on this ship? I know the normal - pop cards, arcade, drink packages, etc. What does Breeze have (if anything) that other ships dont?

    - Any other advice to help me?
I have sailed on the smaller ships and I also liked them, but the BREEZE is hands down my favorite ship so far! Yes, she is huge but the layout was pretty good (maybe with the exception of the aft pool which was always very crowded durig the day). We had a balcony cabin on the Starboard side aft, partially under the main pool. The noise from above was never a factor. However, if you book a balcony check to see what is below it. We loved the location of our cabin but there was a hot tub and the BBQ place directly below us. So there was sometimes noise from the folks below, and the smell of the BBQ on sea days kept making me hungry!

Both the BBQ and the Guy's Burgers were free so no nickle and dime there. There was also a Blue Iguana cantina that served food all day long starting at breakfast and that was free as well. The Italian place and the steakhouse obviously were additional charges.

If I recall, our cabin had a capacity of 3 or four but there were only two of us, and there was plenty of room including the couch.

I think you will love the BREEZE, even if you are used to the smaller ships.

    Have fun!
  7. WHO monitors the Sunshine Serenity Deck so ADULTS may enjoy it without children around? I am NOT against children but if this is an adults only area then that is what I expect.

It varies a little from ship to ship, but for the most part there is normally a staff member near the entranceand usually they stop the kids. I did see kids up there on the Freedom for sail away once, but never saw them up there after that.

I thik it is valid question. I LOVE the serenity areas! We pulled into Key West one time and I went up there to wait for my wife to get ready to go ashore. I fell asleep in one of the hammocks and almost missed the whole port call!

  8. I find this statement is usually made by people that don't sail in suites.

I don't believe those that pay more for their cruise should get the same as those that sail on the inside Riviera cabins.

I'm hoping the new Vista class has areas for those that do pay more, or where the pay restaurants are included in their fare. And that can be a plumber, a cashier or a doctor that has also paid their premium fare.

Are you kidding me? Who the Hell do you think you are? You gonna have them lock the gates so us dirty commoners can't soil your luxury cruise. Go to another line. I don't want to see you, as YOU would ruin MY cruise experience.

I have seen plenty of offensive things on here but you take the cake.

  9. Hello,

I'm taking a Trans-Pacific at the end of this summer and I am considering getting a tattoo during the trip. Ports where I may have the free time to do this are Papeete, Suva, and Noumea.

Has anyone gotten a tattoo in any of these places? I'm just wondering if it is safe and reasonably priced and things like that.

May just be a silly romantic idea.

    Jim:rolleyes:

  10. We're taking our first cruise with our kids. They will be 7, 8, and 10 years old. For those of you with kids close to those ages, what did they like to do after dinner?

My hubby and I like to watch the shows or have a few drinks. I don't know what there is for kids to do after dinner except for Camp Carnival. It is still open then, right?

As a person who does not cruise with kids that age , I just wanted to say THANK YOU! Just the fact that you are thinking ahead and trying to account for your children while still being able to enjoy some adult time is refreshing. You would not believe how many parents seem to think the ship is a babysitter and just let children of that age wander around at all hours. Again thanks and I hope you and your kids have a great cruise!

  11. I guess it depends on what you consider boring. I just got off the Breeze two weeks ago and it included DR. If you are a beach person and enjoy putting your toes in the sand then the wonderful blue waters of the Caribbean, then DR is a must visit. The waters there were wonderful, warm, and great for snorkeling and some 5star hotels have day passes you can enjoy their private beaches that are all inclusive (booze too).

If you're not a beach person, then I would say stay on the ship. I scuba dived in DR and it was some of the most clear and beautiful water around.

As far as going inland on DR, I would say skip it.

BTW, there is plenty to do on the Breeze FOR SURE!

I could not agree more about the DR beaches! We did a boat trip out to a beach on Saona Island. The beach was spectacular and I don't know what that yellow stuff was that guy kept pouring in my cup, but the boat ride back was blurry!

  12. DH and I really want to go on the Breeze for our next cruise. DH has also really wanted to go to Aruba. The two options with Aruba for the Breeze next year are so expensive, but at this point I feel like we just need to go for broke! I think Aruba has high port fees, plus the Breeze is the newest ship, which is probably why it is so expensive.

Anyway, my question is, is there enough to do on the Breeze with four sea days? The first Aruba itinerary only goes to Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk and has four sea days.

The second itinerary also includes the Dominican Republic, but it over a grand a piece for an inside category. I just can't see spending that much! When all is said and done, though, that cruise is only about $200 more than the other one, but is the DR worth the extra $200? $200 could get us a hotel the night before the cruise.

As you can see, I'm overanalyzing! Anyone have any advice? :)

We did the one with Dominican but honestly, we had as much fun on the ship as we did in any of the ports. Breeze is a fantastic ship and we enjoyed every sea day. We switched pools, hit the sernity deck, munched at the BBQ place (which was right under our balcony and the smell was always making me hungry), did a hot tub crawl thing, hit the Red frog one afternoon. IMO there is PLENTY to do!

  13. Does anyone else have a specific pre-cruise activity that has become a tradition for them?

For example, years ago I started having steak and eggs the morning that we leave home for our trip. We always seem to leave at a very early hour the day prior to sail-away. My wife, despite being up hours before me, is normally still running around doing last minute things, so I have time .

Not really superstitious, but now I feel as if it would jinx the whole trip if I don't have my steak and eggs! My wife has capitalized on this by demanding a banana nut muffin at the airport as we start each trip haha.

    Anyone else?

  14. The only one I saw was a 23 day cruise to Fiji and Tahitti started in California and it ended in Sydney Australia ...can you imagine

The relocation cruise for Carnival Legend starts August 30th (yay, we're on it!). Then Legend will stay down under and will cruise the South Pacific.

My wife and I are on that trip also. 50th birthday gift to myself!

  15. Are there really people out there that are upset because Carnival got rid of the 24/7 playing of calypso music on the Lido deck? I enjoy listening to it, but even I can only take so much of it. I like the direction Carnival is going by providing a variety of music options, with possibly now more live performances.

What ship were you on that had 24/7 music of any kind? Never seen anything close to that. But what I have seen is a DJ out there ALL afternoon blasting crap that could make your ears bleed, only to be replaced with that friggin giant TV playing so loud that it could make your ears bleed. Even in the morning that damn thing is blasting, then DJ Mixtooloud takes over again at noon.

I don't want steel drums all the time either, but it's better than that rediculous TV. I HATE that thing.

  16. I love live music by good musicians, and I love DJ's that play the music I like.

But some DJ play the muisic SO loud to the point of over modulation, as well as a heavy playlist toward rap crap, that I end up going to more serene areas to escape.

    I agree. Ilike the steel drum bands but I don't have a problem with a DJ instead IF he is a decent DJ that everyone can enjoy. Here is my example;

On Freedom, the DJ just sucked! He played 100% rap and hip hop and never anything else, all day long! And It was so loud I eventually left the pool area because I just could not take it, and I have been to plenty of heavy metal concerts. Multiple people asked him to turn it down and to play something else and he refused.

On the Breeze, the DJ was fantastic! He played a mix of music that actually created a party atmosphere around the pool with everyone dancing and singing all afternoon. It was loud, but not too loud.

So while I love the live music, I can deal with a DJ as long as he is not a horrible one like the guy on the Freedom.

  17. I don't have one specific thing either. The example I can give of good behavior is the 40-50 percent of passengers who just seem to"get it". They understand that we are all packed on this ship together, and don't act like they are the only ones on board.

You can spot the people I'm talkng about, they are not rushing around like idiots or cutting in front of people. They show common courtesy to their fellow passengers. Just being polite and thinking of the people around you is all it takes. :D

  18. The $50.00 deposit promo ends today. It is good on all sailings through March 31, 2015. I am TA so I received another reminder e-mail about it this morning.

Go in and do a mock booking on a cruise that you are interested in and you will see that the $50.00 deposit promo is good for any booking before March 31, 2015

Thanks. Looks like I am a month too far out from my B2B I was looking at in April.
