  1. One thing I've found is that it can be difficult to fit 2 adaptor son side by side as the outlets are so close together and some adaptor so are a bit on the chunky side! I now use a universal one that is more of a cube size and has 2 USB slots so I can charge 2 devices at the same time.

Yes I agree with you when it comes to the charging plugs and outlets. I have the kind that allow for multiple outlet as well as USB plugs. :)

  2. Another suggestion: as you are traveling with scooters that need to be charged, contact MSC special needs (or have your travel agent do it) and request an extension cord for your cabin for the scooter.

The extension cord will have the European plug but will have an adapter for the USA current and can be used with the scooter.

Once on board, go to Guest Services to request the cod.

When we were on our cruise, my daughter's boyfriend traveled with a CPAP machine. We contacted Special Needs before the cruise to request the cord.

There is an outlet behind the headboards which needs a tool to access. An appointment will be made to come to your cabin (someone must be there), the outlet will be opened and the extension cord plugged in for use.

Yes I have done so already. That is something that we need to do every time we cruise. We have to tell them who is delivering the scooters and their measurements. That is when I make the request for the heavy duty extension cord as well as other items we need in the cabin. :)

  3. You can put any plastic credit card type of card in the slot and it'll give power to the room . you don't have to use your cruise card, so you can power things up whilst you are out of your cabin. Your cabin steward will also think you are in there as the tell tale light is on above the door in the corridor.

    Pete

Pete thanks for the heads up on the slot/power deal. I always have in my wallet either an old hotel room card key that was never left in the room I can use. Else can use one of my casino players cards that I also keep in wallet. :D

  4. Instead of doing an individual thank you to each of you, please accept this response of gratitude to each of you for your answers, statements of record, photos, and opinions. I really appreciate it very much.

Yes you are correct that power strips are usually frowned upon, we only utilize it when present in the cabin. It will either have usb outlet charger in place or at night will have the power chargers for the 2 electric scooters we will have in the cabin. Those have to be charged nightly in order to have enough power for getting around either on board or in ports.

We too, don't leave anything plugged in when not in cabin. Well almost never...

I may just look into getting 1 or 2 European ones and bring them along for just in case purposes. Never know when one will come in handy down the line. Like maybe when we finally get to go overseas... (hint, hint DH) LOL!

As far as the hairdryer in cabin, ladies do you find it strong/powerful enough to dry you hair and do you duoos??? Are they like the regular hairdryers that we all know? Not the weird ones that used to be on RCI's Empress of the Seas way back when... big box that hung on the wall in bathroom with a handle at the end of a tube that was as big as the old brick style cell phones. I had the worst hair style for those 11 night sailings. Learned my lesson and I always pack mine with me.

  5. Since the Divina is a European designed ship, I am wondering if I should bring along a European Adapter/Converter (s) for use in the cabin. DH and I will have electric shaver, hair dryer, electric mobility scooters that all require charging, in addition to USB ports for phones, cameras, and tablets.

Usually when we cruise on RCI or X I bring along a power strip to facilitate in our charging needs and hair drying needs.

If you think we should bring these along, can anyone recommend which to purchase? I am clueless as to what I would need to get. HELP!!!!

  6. I have read a few reviews, (though some were a bit dated) implying that there are not very many doorways leading to the outside were available on board to allow scooters to move about freely. Either having to have someone hold them open, not to mention, a step over type threshold.

Can anyone give some insight to this who has recently sailed?

Do you think that MSC might address this during her scheduled dry dock later on?

  7. I have a couple questions about Voyages Selection Sailings for Loyalty members. I have never cruised MSC but got matched to a Gold level. I have now booked a sailing and it is a Voyages Selection Sailings that has 15% off. How does this work? I booked the cruise and then got my loyalty match and then discovered the cruise was a special sailing and !5% off but I really did not get a 15% discount. Is it set up that special offers perhaps pretty much compete with the Voyages Selection Sailings discount? Perhaps my TA got me a really great rate when I originally booked? I'm just a bit confused why the price doesn't reflect the 15% I also tried to look up cruises through the Voyages Selection sailings and logged off and then looked at the prices that everyone else gets and really didn't see a big difference in price.

Anyways i'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this.

Also I'm assuming the price through the website after logged into Voyages Selection sailings already has the 15% off discount. Is this right?

    Thanks.

I believe that if you have not paid your sailing completely, you should be able to get the 15% discount. I would call and speak to your TA about it. I recently placed a deposit on my Nov. 5th sailing, and did not know anything about the voyager's club or the status match program. I dealt with a vacation planner directly from MSC and she explained all about the club. She told me to go ahead and join the club, and once established, just call her back give her our member numbers and she would apply the discount to our booking. I did just as she said and we got our cabin for less. We receive black level for the status match, looking forward to the perks too.

Hope you have a great cruise.

  8. I would say that this is the best positioned "H" cabin on the ship (along with it's mirror image cabin on the starboard side 11132) the cabins on the deck above will be affected by the deck 14 overhang.

this cabin should only have a small amount of shading from the overhang

The balcony should look like this

    Pete

Thank you Pete for the pics. I'm so looking forward to getting back to sea!

  9. But lots of people dress up so go ahead and break out those sequins you never get a chance to wear - it'll only add to the fun and uniqueness of your cruise!

LOL for me those days are long gone. But I'm pretty sure we can come up with something. It's hubby that sometimes doesn't want to wear a full suit. On Celebrity we usually do specialty dining on formal nights - but we still go dressy/smart.

  10. You can expect 2 formal nights on a 7 night Caribbean sailing. Theme nights will include The White Party,,,Italian Night,,,and Flower Glory(60's,70's,80's).

Can you tell me when formal nights usually are? Day 2 and Day 6?

  11. After reading countless bad reviews and ratings, I was worried this was going to be a marginal-bad cruise. I have only been on 1 bad cruise out of many and that was Carnival. I can say honestly this so far has been a great cruise. The ship is beautiful, the crew attentive, meals last just the right amount of time. Buffer is a bit crowded but that is normal. No strong smoke odors anywhere. Decent cruise food. Our room steward is excellent (room 10060). Only small complaint would be most pillows are lumpy, but that would be a nitpick. So far this cruise has been a great value. I would say the percentage of US passengers is very low but who cares.

Hope you have a great time and I hope you will give a review once you return and have re-cooped. Planning on sailing her Nov. 5th. It will be our first time on her and MSC. Looking forward to it. Thanks

  12. DH and I are planning on being on board Nov 2016 and would like to know if there are saunas available (free of charge) on board? We mainly have sailed on Celebrity as well as Royal and they have dry saunas near the pool area that are for anyone's use at no additional fee. DH loved going and just relaxing in there, especially after a day of being in port and sightseeing. Anything to keep him happy.

  13. I printed ours off utilizing full page (8 1/2 x 11) labels that you can buy in any office supply store. I then trimmed them down to their size and had them handy when we arrived at the pier. The porters helped us take the bags out of the car and place the printed tags thru the handles. They worked beautifully.

Another option for you to try if you like.

  14. I used to suffer horribly when traveling. But no longer. My DSIL found this wonderful little bottle of all natural oils and it has taken care of me for a number of years now.

No matter how i travel, back seat of a car, plane, train, sailing vessel, i just put a few drops on my finger and rub it behind my ears and i'm good to go. If I start feeling nausea again, I just rub some more on.

Best thing is - it doesn't interfere with any type of medications or liquor.

Here is some info on the product.

    Motion Sickness Relief:

Starts working FAST – Instructions indicate that Motioneaze should be taken 5 minutes before you travel, but you will likely see results much faster than that. Most people can start feeling motion sickness relief within 3 minutes after they apply.

Effective even after symptoms have occurred – Motioneaze begins to work within a few minutes after application. Most medications for the same purpose are effective only if taken 30-60 minutes before traveling.

Great for Kids – Parents who have children prone to motion sickness are thrilled with the results they get from Motioneaze. Motioneaze is made of 100% natural ingredients. Topical application is great for children, because all you need to do is rub a drop of oil on the head behind each year.

No drowsiness or other side effects – The most common side effect for over the counter motion sickness medications is drowsiness. Motioneaze is an All-Natural solution for relief of motion sickness or nausea symptoms. You can stay wide awake and enjoy your book, movie or the view as you travel.

Doctor recommended – Doctors recommend Motioneaze, because it doesn’t have side effects, is very effective, and works even after symptoms have begun.

Travel-friendly solution – Most manufacturers of motion sickness medications recommend that their medication be taken with a full glass of water. Taking pills while traveling can be a real hassle, especially if children are involved. However, all-natural Motioneaze is easy to apply. Simply apply a few drops of the herbal oils on the head behind each ear to calm the symptoms of motion sickness.

Easy to Use – When your stomach is feeling irritated, the last thing you want to do is swallow something. Motioneaze topical application is simple to use and is even effective when taken after symptoms have arrived. Because it is an all natural solution and not a pill, Motioneaze also does not require water to take with it.

Works on pets ― No one wants to leave their best friend home because they drool or vomit when they travel. Motioneaze makes pets into happy travelers. Consumers report excellent results on their dogs and cats and veterinarians recommend it!

I get mine from the local bait and tackle shop, but it can be ordered online. Just google it to find out where.

The other thing I found out from a very wonderful cabin steward years back on our first cruise, eat some green apples. That's what the crew eats when they get to feeling bad. It helps too.

    Hope this helps anyone.

  15. Thank you for a wonderful review and beautiful pictures of locations as well as your family. I also would like to thank you for the most helpful hint of the use of the shower curtain and magnetic hooks, along with posting of the pics. That is such an ingenious idea.

I am going out this weekend to purchase those items and place them in my suitcase. We are taking our grandchildren with us on our next cruise and I have been wondering how to be able to get a bit more privacy when getting ready. As well as, no allowing the TV light to bother them once asleep.

    Thank you again.

  16. Back on Liberty for the 4th time in 21 days tomorrow.

Had various cabins on this ship. 8338 E2 centre hump starboard, 9706 E1 aft, 8550 E1 forward port side, and for this upcoming 9638 hump JS port side.

Here's a few pics of her

thank you for sharing your pictures. They are amazing and most beautiful. You have a very good eye for pictures.
