  1. My oldest daughter (26) is a terrible sleeper and we were just discussing how well we sleep when in an inside cabin between the dark and the ships movement we sleep really well! I am prone to car sickness and forget amusement park rides or even going around in a circle a couple times, but have been very fortunate about not getting sick while cruising! I have got a little dizzy and staggered around a few times but nothing bad, the seas were extremely rough one night while in Alaska and you were not supposed to be out on the decks. I actually tried the patch behind the ear and it gave me one of the worst headaches so have never tried it again! Overall you very rarely feel much movement and it's not bothersome.

  2. I have seen a lot of posts about this. Am I the only one who doesn't eat at hole in the wall 'ethnic' or 'authentic' places? I eat on the ship. Is the local cuisine worth the potential food poisoning and diarrhea??? I do not think it is safe!

No you are not the only one! I work in the restaurant industry and know about all the food safety and when I see some of these restaurants it would scare me to death! Are they keeping the food cold enough, washing hands frequently, cooking the food to safe temps? I'd rather not take the chance. Yes I know you can get sick on the ship too, but feel a little safer there!

  3. I booked with Choice Air for a Mediterranean Cruise the prices were cheaper than finding them on my own I watched them religiously and one day the price dropped and additional $300 if I would have bought my own flights it would have been $500 for 6 people saved a lot! Then I purchased the travel insurance through RCI and they said that covers the flights and helping me with any delays!

  4. We have cruised in the Caribbean, Mexican Riveria and Alaska have never taken our passport of though on our upcoming cruise thinking of taking copies of our passports with us. We try not to take anything of value off the ship (unless it can fit in a water box) so if we go snorkeling we don't have to worry about someone stealing our stuff off the beach. If they need my clothes, shoes or beach towel then I figure they need it worse than I do.

  5. I don't know if I did the right thing by booking a interior for 4 people on enchantment of the seas. We did kids sail free so we are paying 1300 for a 2000 dollar cruise which is nice. But I know the rooms are much smaller on royal caribbean than on carnival. So any input on it would be nice

We did Freedom in Sept an interior room with our 2 adult children!! And booked on the Liberty in Sept the same way (saved $2000) We all had large suitcases and a backpack so you can do it if you WANT to! When your talking a significant amount of money to most people I say it's doable thought a little crowded! My family goes on vacation to enjoy the beautiful weather and do everything we can so are in the room basically to shower and sleep! I say go for it and use the $700 for excursions or save toward your next cruise!! I didn't realize it was only 3 days you should be able to handle that just go and have fun!!

  6. At what point did you see the sea creatures? Soon after sailaway? We have never seen any marine life from the ship (to be honest, we haven't looked that hard), I just imagined it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

As soon as we left the pier we started watching the water -saw sharks, dolphins, stingrays and some huge jellyfish!

  7. Just call and tell them you noticed the price had dropped and what you could upgrade to? We're booked on the JOS April 19th the prices dropped twice after final payment got upgraded both times! Started out in an inside room, then went to ocean view and now a balcony for a whole $32 ! Tickled pink as this will be our first time in a balcony!

  8. I would say you will be able to board the ship at that time. The cruises we've been in generally allow you to go to the cabins around 1:00.

Shows- on the smaller ships we've always just showed up. We just did FOS in Sept and the only show we had to do reservations for was the ice show.

Our family consisting of hubby, 3 young adult children and (now a SIL) we've been on RCI, NCL and Carnival and we all prefer RCI

Our reasons the food is better (On Carnival my hubby resorted to eating pizza at times which isn't his favorite food!) The shows are of better quality (Call me prudish but I don't like taking my family to a show that the girls are wearing G-strings not family viewing IMO!) More active things to do-just over all a higher quality!

  9. Trying to see how (or if its possible) to sign the activity waivers (ie flowrider) on line ahead of time before sailing. I called RCCL twice and got conflicting answers. One person said they are available when I complete my set sail document. I couldn't find it though. Another said yes but had no idea how to do it.

My family had our waivers all signed electronically for our FOS cruise in Sept. (or so we thought!) When they went to use the flowrider and rock climbing wall they couldn't find it so they had to do it all on the ship. So just go prepared the first time with your card and if you have minor children make sure you are along!

  10. I have never done Disney as a port Excursion, but used to do a Disney trip yearly! My DH has begged off from Disney till we have grandkids!

IMO I don't think it would be worth the hassle especially depending on the time of year!

They always say from the coast it's only an hour but at times it has taken us 2 hours with the traffic. Then you have the lines if it's peak season a ride can easily take 45min -2 hours. So depends how much you want to get out of your day. My family has been there so many time we knew what rides they liked and which ones not to bother with and could get quite a bit done in one day, but if it's your first time I'm afraid you will be disappointed!

  11. I had thought of doing this on our upcoming cruise in Apr and am now kicking myself. I got a good price on a flight to SJU so went ahead and booked the cruise now the prices have dropped about half of what I paid!

We did get upgraded from an inside to a balcony but I personally would have been happier with an inside at half the cost. Next year we may gamble and either go to SJU or Fla and go on whatever cruise to wherever as long as we get a good bargain and if we don't get any cruise I guess we'll spend the time vacationing on land! I'm all about having a good time for as cheap as possible!!!

  12. I hadn't used a TA for years as the last time I used one for Alaska was told I could look for my own flights as I could get cheaper on my own so I figured if I have to do that I can handle the rest!

Fast forward several years can offer from our local agency for an additional $50 OBC priority boarding and a bottle of champagne (we won't drink) I thought with my open booking cruise papers and that offer I'd have $150 OBC

Well not sure what happened but they will not let me use my open booking credit unless I cancel my cruise and rebook which I can't do since my flight is linked to the cruise and would cost $250 pp x6 plus lose the good price I got!

I've had to call several times as the price dropped plus the 3/4 person sailing free offer was on and it saved me $$$$ I feel like I am being a bother and am afraid to call anymore if I see any additional drops. My DH says they probably have my # up to not answer since I had to call so much!

My question is if you call Your TA frequently do you feel you are being a bother or they expect us obsessive people to bug them and they really don't mind?

  13. We are booked on the Jewel April 19yh and the pictures are getting me excited! We plan to do the Baths (decided to go through the ship as it will be Easter and wasn't sure what would be available) also have an excursion with Bumping Tours so your review made me feel better. We were originally booked in and inside room (which is what we always sail) but due to 2 price drops are now in our first ever balcony room! My hubby said you mean we can actually go right outside rom our room ? I may just sleep out there! LOL

  14. OMG, I never knew you could click on the colored box and then those appear, that is exactly what i wanted to know, that is not how it worked last year when I booked mine and I figured there had to be a way but I just wasn't getting it. THANK YOU, I am going to have so much fun now looking at all the different itineraries we wanted to do and see what cabins are actually available and the prices, I was getting sick of calling RCCL and being on hold, I love this site so much. Thanks again.

I'm so glad to help someone out. Remember If you find something you want you can always do the 24 hour hold and if you like then call and book. I personally prefer to talk to someone directly so I KNOW I have it confirmed by a person!

  15. I usually have a few Diet Mt Dews in my suitcase and I always end up getting them. Can't do without it for a week and if I am flying and departing on the ship on the same day I don't have a place to buy it. I had an airline worker say you know you can buy pop when you get there! I said yes but my flavor is hard to find! So I go prepared!
