  1. Hi, have just been allocated room 9295 on Solstice as a guarantee. Initially we were delighted to see a larger balcony on the ship deck plan but since have discovered it is normal size. Could only find one review for this cabin and a little bit concerned to read they could smell smoke from the promenade deck. Has anyone else been in this room and noticed the smoke. I would have thought Deck 9 might avoid the smoke, but obviously not. Any other comments? Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi can anyone tell me the current price, in AUD, for the non alcoholic drinks packages. I see someone posted US$26 for premium and US$22 for classic. Do I just convert using an exchange rate calculator or do they have set rates when sailing down under? When going through the web site, no prices are showing. I believe they have a lot of problems with their website so this could be why. Many thanks.

  3. Sorry to ask another "drinks package" question but I have searched and cannot find an answer to my question. Does anyone know if the "zero proof" cocktails/mocktails and non alcholic wine/grapejuice is included in the Classic drinks package? From what I have read, there is no mention of these drinks in the cocktails or zero proof list. Has anyone had any experience asking for these drinks on board and having them included in this drinks package? Many thanks for your help.

  4. Hi, has anyone from NZ/Aust sailed Celebrity and ever managed to change a guarantee room they have been allocated. I have read that they can change to the same cabin type/class in America but it is with some difficulty in the UK. I just wondered what the position would be here, down under. Also wondering if you could swap for a lower grade if you were upgraded and given a guarantee in another class that you didn't want. Some of the Aqua class rooms are in noisy areas of the ship and if I went for a CC guarantee, I wouldn't necessarily want to be upgraded to one of these Aqua rooms. Just weighing up the pros and cons of guarantees.

  5. Hi, we will be on the Princess Sun for a 3 night cruise in October. She will be sailing from Brisbane to Newcastle to Sydney. Are we likely to go into International waters and have access to the shops on board. My husband bought a Fossil belt from one of the shops on our last Sun cruise and it has broken so we are hoping it is still under warranty and we can get a replacement. I read somewhere that these short cruises sometimes don't go into International waters so the shops can't open.

  6. We were on Sun Princess last week. Cocktails AU$9.95 and $13.95. Cider $6, Prosecco $9 for a piccolo. BUT.......There is 'Happy Hour' 3-4pm and 9-10pm in the Wheelhouse bar where the second drink is only $1. They don't open the prosecco or beer bottles either. I stocked the cabin fridge for drinking on the balcony or during afternoon trivia. Drinks package is still $59 (no extra service charge either). We took wine aboard for drinking at the dining table. An extra bottle is around $40. Overall our daily consumption was well short of the package price without skimping.

Coffee card is $35 and with that you can also get free pots of tea, hot chocolate and brewed coffee, even if you are not buying a specialty coffee at the same time.

Hi, do you know what the current price is for the Unlimited Soda and More package? We will be on the Sun in October and just wondered if the price quoted online is correct at NZ$9.73 per day. They also say the coffee card is NZ$50.40. I know it should be dearer than the Aus rate at $35 but our exchange rate isn't that bad. By current exchange rates it should only be a few dollars dearer.

  7. Thanks so much everyone for your prompt, and helpful, replies. Yes, I see that it does say $25 for a 3-6 day cruise. I am puzzled as I have $15 showing as OBC yet I have booked a balcony. Actually, I was surprised to see them as I haven't applied the Future cruise credits yet to this booking so maybe they are not related and are extras they have given us. When I spoke to the Princess consultant, she couldn't really tell me much about them.

  8. Hi, I have been trying to find info on future cruise credits on the Princess webpage but for the life of me can't find anything, even with a search. I found an old posting here, which gave a link, but the page has now gone.

I am on a 3 night cruise in a balcony and would be allocated $15 should I care to use them but the info I have found from back in 2016 suggests the amounts may have now been reduced as it states $25 for a balcony 3-6 days- see below. Can anyone please point me in the direction of the updated rates and a link for the Princess website. Many thanks.

  9. Hi, we are considering doing our first cruise on Maasdam/Holland America. In the past we have sailed Princess and Celebrity. Has anyone else sailed either these lines and could tell us what sort of differences we may notice. What sort of age group is likely to be on board? Do many families and children sail on this line?

Due to our budget we are thinking of an oceanview stateroom. Any advice on how to pick a good one? We usually like to have cabins on the floor above and the floor below.

Any other suggestions for first time HAL cruisers.

    Many thanks for your help.

  10. Thank you for all your replies. Has anyone seen the form recently as I am aware of 2 versions. One asks if you have a fever PLUS any one of the following additional symptoms: cough, runny nose or sore throat and the other just asks straight out if you have a fever or cough or sore throat or runny nose. If they ask the first version - a fever Plus a cough - we won't have to declare it.

  11. We did a cruise on Sun Princess from Brisbane up to Port Douglas in October this year. Due to the weather, we missed 2 out of our 3 Ports. We were refunded the Port fees as well as being given 30% of what we had paid for the cruise, as a credit toward a future cruise. This is the first time we have missed a Port so thought it must be the norm to give compensation - obviously it isn't.
