Thanks so much for the pics. Looks great. I'm a little concerned that we're over the top of Connexions bar but I haven't seen anyone complain about the noise yet.
Yes, can anyone tell me if the noise does rise up from the Connexions bar. We are very light sleepers and don't stay up too late. Many thanks

I was told by Celebrity it was my outdated Chrome, which by the way, still doesn't work even though it has been updated. Safari works for me.

I have been having trouble with the Celebrity website all morning. I put in my username and email and it asks me to fill out a black form. When I do it balks and says that username or email (I've tried both) is already taken, and to enter the password. When I do, it says the password is wrong, then it asks me one of my security questions. I answer it right and it says I have to reset the password. Three attempts and it keeps saying you can't repeat a password you've used. I'm not repeating a password I've used! Leaving on Celebrity Summit on 6/17 and was hoping to print out the sea pass, etc. :( Also, I tried accessing it through both Safari and Google Chrome.
I had the same troubles and had to ring Celebrity in the end. He told me I was having problems with chrome as it wasn't updated on my computer. Even when updated, it is still temperamental so I tend to use Safari now.

Thought I would give it another go this morning, it's even worse now - all I get when I go to log in is a black screen with dots - NOTHING else. Talk about going "dotty".
-
Site won't let me sign in with my email address. Says it is already in their system and just stays red thus blocking me signing in with the new password and all the extra details they require - security question, phone number etc.
Tried resetting password on incognito sign in page and still no joy!!

Would cost $70 to $80 for taxi from Cruise terminal to Morpeth one-way at least. Train would be $4 & $10 taxi ride.. So one would be $150, the other $28 to go to Morpeth. I run a business in Maitland which Morpeth is a suburb of... It's nice...
So if we were to embark on this journey, is it best to access the station from the centre of Newcastle or the cruise ship terminal? Would we take the Hunter train line? Where would we get off and what bus stop would we go to catch the bus to Morpeth? Would this be the 184 bus? Would 5 hours be enough to go there and back on a Saturday? Thank for your help.

We were on the Solstice this past February and there was no Slush bar.

Did you notice whether frozen drinks similar to this posted menu were available?
-
Thanks for your replies. I will copy off the menu and take it with me on our cruise. If I show it to the bartenders, maybe they will be able to make me something similar.
-
I read there was one on the Equinox, (see menu below.)
Just wondered if there was one on the Solstice or if these drinks listed on the menu were available from other bars.
-
Hi, is there a Slush bar on the Solstice and if not, are the drinks listed on the Slush Menu, available at another bar on the ship?
-
Thank you so much all for those suggestions. I really liked the idea of the cruise up the river but unfortunately that tour won't be operating on Jan 5th. I've also checked out the bus and train timetables but I think it could be a bit tight for our time frame. Maybe we will just have to come back and spend more time in the area. It looks like we will be staying close to Newcastle but to us that is fine as there is much we haven't seen yet.

Thank you for all that helpful advice. Is there public transport to Morpeth on a Saturday? I have googled it and it looks like it is an interesting little town to visit. Maybe we could do a quick trip there either morning or afternoon and then visit Fort Scratchley as well with the remaining time.

I doubt you could walk to the memorial walk even Christ Church could be a problem with a bad knee, (hills) but there is usually a shuttle going to those places. Or the old tram.
When are you here, as there is a lot of road work going on at the moment for the light rail and that may impact.
We are in Newcastle early Jan 2019 on Sat 5th
-
Thanks for those tips. How accessible is the Memorial Walk from where the cruise ship buses drop us off in town at Queens Wharf Tower. We wondered about walking to the Cathedral and then walking on over to the Memorial Walk. We probably wouldn't do the whole walk as I have knee troubles.

Thanks so much for all your input. Can anyone tell me if a trip to Stockton on the ferry is worth it? Is there much to see there? The beaches look quite nice from the photos I have seen.

Hi, our cruise line is offering a 6 hour day trip to Port Stephens when we dock in Newcastle for the day. It advertises it as an hour long guided drive to Nelson Bay and there we have free time to explore on our own. Is there much to do at Nelson Bay? Is the area walkable or is there public transport available to move around the district? We are not really into hiking large distances, (due to a knee injury), 4WD activities or the sand dunes. Is there a village/shopping community we could explore, or a nice beach close by? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. We have had a day in Newcastle before and explored the beaches, town, etc If we didn't go to Nelson Bay we were thinking of visiting the Cathedral and Fort Scratchley.

Re NEWCASTLE, what interests you?
I could then perhaps give you a few suggestions.
Many enjoy a visit to Fort Scratchley and the Cathederal.
Others the Hunter Valley Gardens, the largest Rose Farm in the Southern Hemisphere I believe.
There’s also Port Stephens or Lake MacQuarie if you want more time on the water.
Some great beaches at Newcastle.
The CBD itself doesn’t offer a lot if shopping is on your list but they do offer shuttles to one of the suburban shopping centres.
Celebrity are offering an excursion to Port Stephens where you do what you like for the day - they just transport you there and bring you back again. Is there much to see and do? Is it easy to walk around the area or would you need to use public transport. They don't stipulate where the drop off/pick up area is so I can't give you details there. We aren't really into hiking, 4 wheel drives or visiting the sand hills so just wondered if there was anything else of interest beside the beautiful beaches.

Thank you for your replies. Hearing that you kept your OBC encouraged me to ring Celebrity back and talk to someone else. They have confirmed that we DO keep the OBC that we obtained on-board. It's a shame we sometimes get conflicting advice.
-
Hi, I booked a new cruise when onboard, and was allocated $200 OBC plus two perks, for my Aqua stateroom. The price for this cruise has dropped significantly and I understand I will lose both perks if I have the new fare applied to the booking. I was also told by Celebrity, that I would lose the $200 OBC I had been given, when I booked onboard.
Reading through some of the previous posts on the Celebrity board, I have noted that it has been said these OBC go with the booking, (room no. still the same and sailing dates still the same), so shouldn't be taken away. Has this policy changed or have I been misinformed by Celebrity?

Many thanks for your replies. Do you think they would make GF pancakes, waffles or French toast if you requested it?
-
When I'm away on a cruise, I like to indulge in a bagel for breakfast every morning. Can anyone tell me if Celebrity provide a GF variety or would I need to take my own? On our next cruise we will be using BLU for our meals so I just wondered if there would be a range of wheat free options there for breakfast?
-
Muesli is available in Blu, they just do not make it at your table side anymore.
Can you please tell me what was so special about the muesli?
-
I just finished breakfast in Blu on Solstice this morning. It’s a sea day, and it was open until 9.30. I’m very impressed with the menu, although I can confirm that I haven’t seen tableside muesli happening.
As we have never had an Aqua cabin, we never had the joy of eating this much talked about "tableside muesli". What exactly made it so special? Is muesli not available in Blu now or is there a much simpler version on the menu?
-
The quality of the food was good but they often left things off or added extras in. In CC you will get an expanded menu which includes smoothies, granola parfait etc.
Non-alcoholic Wine
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
Hi, does anyone know if non-alcoholic wine, by the glass, is available on the classic drinks package? We know they do have it on board as we had the complimentary bottle of wine in our stateroom exchanged for the non-alcoholic wine.
