Not too sure if we are wise but we are on the first 2 voyages from Ft Lauderdale on the S Shadow after her refit
and whilst on board may book the Black Sea Voyage.
We booked this voyage while on the Wind last month. The Cruise Consultant said they have had a lot of interest for this itinerary.

As JB says, Dover Castle is a must and you can spend quite a few hours there. Also, nearer the time have a look at the White Cliffs website for things that are going on. There is a 'secret' fort up on the cliffs and the local historical society hold open days there which are really worth attending (only twice a year though so may not be when you are there).

There are tours at Canterbury Cathedral if you want to do that and there is also a walking tour there, which is interesting.
We were in Dove May of last year. Took a taxi and walked the Cliffs, plus we were able to visit the "secret" bunker that is run by the National Trust.

We have also had a VERY interesting development. Late last year, we booked the Muse from Yokohama to Vancouver, May 4, 2020. At the time, SS was offering reduced air fares for this cruise. We were quoted $3880 for business out of Nashville (reasonable compared to pricing we got on line). Last week we received a SS Asian brochure that listed business air for $699 each way with a negligible increase in fare. We happened to be in Las Vegas at the same time as the Virtuoso Conference and saw our TA. She had dinner with the SS Reps and they knew nothing about the offer. She is pursuing that pricing for us.
Not to be skeptical, but I think we were never intended to receive that mailer.

Long time member, very rare poster; we did this same voyage last year. Great itinerary! We especially liked St. Kilda.
Hope you have a great time!

We were on a cruise several years ago with a Dr. that recommended the Relief Band which looks like a watch to combat motion sickness. It was originally designed for cancer patients to relieve nausea. My wife purchased one and would not travel without it. It is available on Amazon also. Make sure you purchase the one that utilizes the CR2025 batteries as they do have a design that is not reusable after a number of hours.

Not sure. We booked too late to get their biz air. We wanted next year too but there is a break in between that prevented a b2b.
Thanks. We would like HND, but NRT has better connections from Nashville

just booked the Nikko too. Hope that info is still some what current!
Picking up the Muse to Vancouver May 12.
We are looking at this same voyage next year. If you have booked your air through SS, which airport did they use; HND or NRT.? Thanks
-
Thanks for the input. We are leaning in that direction.

Thanks for the information. We are also looking at the Hilton Shinjuko.

We are Hilton Diamond Members and are considering stay at this location on points prior to our cruise. I’m trying to get an idea of travel times and cost from the HND airport to the Hilton and then to the Yokohama Cruise terminal via a private transfer. Any experience and advice would be appreciated.

In 2013 we stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky on points, directly across from the Cloud. It is located on the Giudecca Island. The Hilton has a complimentary shuttle over to St.Mark's Square. There were also a couple of water front restaurants just down the way. We arranged for a water taxi from Marco Polo Airport through the Hilton. It's not the most cost effective way, but I'm not much on throwing my credit card over the internet!! Attached is the view of the Cloud from our room.

After dinner Jason, Jeannie and I went to Dolce Vita to enjoy the piano player. We really enjoyed her, and at her break I went up to her to tell her so. She thanked me and said that her name was Claudette. I found that curious, because the Chronicles listed a different performer in that time slot. She said that the schedule often changes after Chronicles is printed. Curious. Apparently, Chronicles is an instrument of fickle testimony. 😏
Anyway, we are fans of Claudette.

We are enjoying your comments. We were on the Spirit in January and thought Claudette was great. Please ask her to sing John Prine’s “ Angel from Montgomery “ one more time for her fans from Nashville. She does a great job!!
Hope you have a great Cruise.

Bee minor,
Longtime member and a very rare poster here. I have also read Jeff's account of the same cruise. I realize that SS needs to fill cabins, but they may be playing roulette with the regular customers who may not be so forgiving. A few years ago we had booked the Cloud RT from the London Bridge. A regular poster alerted us that 70 cabins had been reserved by one company. We elected to cancel and go to South America on the Spirit. Based on your and Jeff's experiences, I think we made the right decision. Otherwise, we've been lucky over the years!!!
Enjoying your review.

Thank you Perfectionistcruiser! After your post I vigorously questioned what I had been told and the non response for the past 12 days and said that we wanted a table NOW. Finally , the butler manager appeared at the door and admitted that they hadn't received enough tables, so they just decided not to provide them on deck 5. They immediately provided a table from the pool deck. We have been with Silversea for over 20 years and are on this cruise for 36 days, in a mid-ship verandah, and I am astounded that they would mislead any passenger in this way.
Thanks for the heads up. We'll be on deck 5 also, and we will have that table!!
-
Wellseasoned,
I was surprised that there are no tables on the verandas. Where am I supposed to put my wine glass!!!
Looking forward to boarding on the 19th in Dublin.

Mr. Wellseasoned, look forward to seeing you again when we board in Dublin on the 19th. Looks like all is well on the Cloud. Unfortunately, we were not able to dig up another volunteer for the Mix and Mingle!!

In 2013 we used Discover the South for visit to Salisbury, Stonehenge, and the New Forest as recommended by another CC member. The driver picked us up at Heathrow and dropped us at our Hotel in Southampton. As JB said, the drivers/guides are not certified guides. Our guide James Hallum, a retired engineer, "knew the territory" and was knowledgeable as he lived in that area.
Hope this helps,

We stayed at the Molino Stuckey prior to a Silversea Cruise in 2014. If I remember correctly, there are two restaurants just down the Gudecia island from the Hotel. The 2nd restaurant was recommended. Sorry I do not remember the name. It had a nice view right on the canal.
Hope this helps.

Another vote for Discover the South. They picked us up at Heathrow for a transfer to Southampton in 2013. Along the way, we toured Salisbury, Stonehenge and drove through the New Forest.

We used TJ Travels for 2 days in SP while we were on the Wind last September. Since we had been there before, we gave them in detail what we wanted to see and do. They were very accommodating made touring SP a breeze. Our guide was Michael who also worked at the Hermitage. Hope this helps.
