  1. Happened to me last winter. RC chartered the 3rd sailing out of 4 consecutive. Since I fly to Florida, staying in a hotel for 10 days while the charter was sailing would have been too costly. I wound up doing a b2b, canceling the 4th cruise. Staying in a hotel overnight in Florida and boarding another ship for another b2b. Since the new b2b was not price protected, it wound up costing me an additional 1700. For my cabins, hotel, food and transport. I got 200 obc for my "inconvenience."

  2. Not sure about bookings done in Australia as I am a solo US traveler, but if the rules are the same and you booked a JS under the double occupancy fare as opposed to a reduced solo supplement, the fare will likely not change except for the addition of taxes/port charges for the 2nd person, however your TA's comment is not true. You can not add another person "any time" because as cabins begin to sell out there must be enough room at your muster station for an additional person. Right now, there is only a reserved seat in the lifeboat for you. I would add the second person as soon as you can.

  3. I usually complete all the set sail passes online, but only print the first one and luggage tags. Occasionally, I have had to switch cabins and when i did, I made sure to print luggage tags for my new cabin. Even though my stateroom attendant usually knows I am moving, I attach the tags to my luggage and leave all in my room to be moved in case my cabin attendant is switched due to vacation or end of contract.

  4. Very early this morning, upon looking at some of the fall and winter sailings, I noticed that for some of the sailings I was booking that the refundable deposit price was less than the non refundable. I booked them online and then called C & A to have my solo supplement applied. The agent was surprised at what he said was clearly an error. My assumption is that they will likely (if they haven't already ) correct this.

  5. How do you know what a suite child is versus some other form of child?

Remember the CL is for suite guests paying big for the privilege and many suite guests are diamond, diamond plus, or even pinnacle. So to categorize people is just silly. All types of behavior exists among all groups. I’ve seen diamonds and D plus dress in all types of clothes on formal nights or any night for that manner. They feel entitled b/c they diamond status makes them so special. Lol. Kids are kids and bad parenting exists at all income levels.

In the SL you can pretty much do what you want as a guest. When you pay that much for a cruise they aren’t going to ask you to leave because your wearing dress shorts and a polo shirt in the caribbean. The CL, just like the DL, has a lot of folks there to get their free drinks so it is totally different. In the SL it is sky class and up plus pinnacles. I’ve never seen poorly dressed people to the point that it is an issue. Shorts all the time but I dont count that. And no one seems to care. Never seen bathing suits at night, etc. I love the suite lounges. They are big, service oriented, and just an awesome part of sky class and up.

The children to whom I was referring to had been identified as the children of suite guests by the concierge. Their parents did not have a C &A status that would have allowed them access to the CL.

Typically, I have found that when children are the offspring of C&A members who have lounge access, those children are usually well-behaved, having been told of the expected behaviors. They do not handle the buffet food, are not boisterous, and do not climb on the furniture, but again, this is only my experience.

  6. Maybe the Suite Lounge was at the request of Suite Guest. I think it’s clear many D and D+ have different ideas of the lounge use. Many C&A members treat it as a social lounge while most Suite Guests do not.

I don't pretend to read minds but I have made some observations on ships with a CL. I have seen Suite guests come into the lounge in shorts and bathing suit coverups both during the day and on formal nights. On formal nights they were asked to leave and return appropriately dressed. I have seen Suite children jumping on furniture and in general making a ruckus as their parents sat oblivious.

Most suite guests will comply with the rules of the CL, there have been some, however, who get annoyed if reminded of the dress code or asked to control their children and state more or less that they have paid to be there and will do and wear what they want and the CL is a convenience, an extension of the amenities in their room.

As I do not have access to the Suite Lounge, I don't know if these types of behaviors/attitudes exist in there but I do know it irritates many of those long-time C&A members when they witness it in the CL.

  7. The color of your card will be based on the type of cabin you are staying in. It is not based on your Crown and Anchor level unless you are Pinnacle.

You will also not be given any of the Platinum perks until your next sailing abecause it is not until you complete the sailing that you are on that those loyalty points will be posted to your account.

  8. OK thanks for explaining.

I haven´t seen any upgraded toiletries for plaitnum and up and din´t even know they existed, but then it´s been a long time since platinum;). As for the upgraded ones, I alway got the Gilchrist and Soames and I´m fine with those.[/quote

The regular bottles/tubes of toiletries (other than what is in the dispenser in the shower/tub) were an amenity that used to appear at the Platinum level - right when you got bathrobes (that is why 340 says "upgraded bathroom amenities since calling soap in the shower an amenity is like calling toilet paper an amenity)

    .

Gilchrist and Soames and L'Occitane were the upgraded at 340. Now. according to what I was told both on Serenade and Freedom the G&S and L'O are Suite only amenities and the regular tubes/bottles are the "newly designated" upgraded 340 amenities.

Below 340 gets only what is in the shower dispenser. Passengers onboard Serenade that asked were told that this is going fleet wide (I was told the same thing from the LA and Concierge on Freedom) and that RC was in the process of standardizing the amenities from ship to ship over the next couple of years.

How they will do that is beyond me as some ships just do not have what others do unless they just eliminate amenities that can not be standardized like coastal kitchen access for Pinnacle.

  9. I´m not sure what you mean by the pro-rating:confused:.

As for the upgraded toiletries, I think they have always been given from 340 points and not from making D+. With the always I know Bob will correct me if it was different like this at some point, but I know it´s been this way for many years now.

Pro-rated- sorry auto correct did its thing. As a solo traveler, I do not get my full Crown and Anchor balcony benefit when traveling solo and paying either the reduced supplement for having more than 340 points or if I book a solo cabin on a ship like Anthem.

In terms of the toiletries, yes "upgraded toiletries" have been at the 340 level, however when on the Serenade and Freedom in January and February I received the same toiletries that until last year on Serenade were given to C&A members upon reaching Platinum, so to me it seemed a downgrade.

I was told by the Concierge, Guest Services, and my cabin steward that this was a directive from Miami that the upgraded toiletries I used to get were now reserved for Suite only guests, however the concierge on Freedom at that time (she is leaving RC) said that she made sure that her Pinnacles (no matter what cabin class they were staying in) received the better toiletries despite receiving a directive to the contrary.

  10. Here's hoping that as a D+ solo traveler, RC doesn't decide to prorate this discount as well. 40% off something I buy regularly on longer cruises will save me more than the current 2 days free internet that I get now. RC has a habit of "pro-rating" discounts, ie. my C&A cabin discount, bogo discounts,

As I only cruise in the fall and the winter to escape the weather in the northeast, I was surprised to find out that the "upgraded toiletries" were no longer "upgraded by comparison" to what we used to receive and that it was limited to 340 or more loyalty plus when I boarded Serenade this past January.

I do wonder as I get closer to Pinnacle status (this coming February) what Pinnacle perks will be left to enjoy.

  11. I know that this post is really old so I hope someone sees this...I am going on my very first cruise on the Freedom of the Seas on May 6th, and I was wondering if anyone knows if turkey bacon and or turkey sausage are an option on that ship. My family does not eat pork and I was hoping that we would have some other options. I called the access department as recommended by RCI and they didn’t have an answer. Can someone please help me?

    Thank you in advance!

Was on Freedom mid Feb thru beginning of March. No turkey bacon or sausage. Chicken sausage seems to be the norm for about 1 1/2 years now. Occasionally, turkey sausage can be found in the MDR on some ships.

  12. I typically only cruise during November and do a few consecutive cruises during January and February. I will be looking to book my fall 2019 and winter 2020 cruises when they are released the week of April 2.

Does anyone know if when I receive my free cruise certificate in Feb. of 2019 for turning Pinnacle, if I can then apply the $2400. to one of my already-booked-upcoming cruises. or must I book a "new sailing."

If I am allowed to apply it to an existing cruise, is the cruise re-priced in this situation or do they simply deduct the award?

  13. It started some time ago. If you hit $1200.00 and up on a slot machine your given a form W2G to file with your taxes as income.

Its been about 2 1/2 years now and it is my understanding that the concession to 1099G handpays of $1200. 00 or more arose from an agreement RCI made with the US Government in order to be able to move more money through Federal Reserve Banks and onto their ships. The additional larger builds made this necessary.

Insofar as getting a win/loss statement from them, I have gotten a run around. Two written requests, the earliest being in December and 4 phone calls during which I got multiple and differing answers as to where my statement was leaves me to date without one. I will be calling again today.:(

  14. Don't know if anyone posted this yet- I believe it may affect those currently on the Oasis sailing:

POST HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE: Prior to Hurricane Irma, the Park n Cruise staff continuously prepped our facility for the worst case scenario; which was a predicted direct hit. Throughout the day and night of the storm our staff periodically visited the lot to assess the performance of our facility as well as the condition of our customers vehicles. Our last visual inspection, during the storm around 9pm, showed that our facility was handling the storm without issue. Moreover; the wellbeing of all customer vehicles at this time was proof positive that our pre-storm preparations were worthwhile.

Upon returning to our facility the following morning, we discovered Park N Cruise had been struck by a powerful tornado some time after our last inspection. The force of this tornado resulted in the complete loss of our Park N Cruise home. Additionally, the majority of our customers vehicles received some level of damage. Most of the damage to vehicles included shattered windows and body damage. However; there are about a dozen vehicles that are assumed to be a complete loss.

This feeling of complete loss is only equaled by our feeling of helplessness in our ability to prevent ANY damage to our customers vehicles.

Regardless, of the fact that our business and facility is a complete loss, our families remained safe throughout the storm…And for that we are thankful beyond measure.

Park N Cruise is in direct contact with the Port Canaveral Port Authority and WILL be there tomorrow to pick up and transport all customers back to their vehicle.
