  1. Ports will be roatan cozumel belize

Always remember this...people will always criticize something. My first cruise was on Royal Caribbean and I was disappointed that I didn't take Carnival. The next cruise I booked was on Carnival and I have another cruise booked on Carnival next October. Try and it see if it is something that you would like. For me, I enjoy the laid back attitude that Carnival offers, but they also take care of their customers as well. You make the cruise!! Go and enjoy, have a wonderful time and then decide if Carnival is something you should stay with. Someone also mentioned checking out the different posts here in the Carnival forum, and they are right. There are tons of reviews to read and photos as well to view.

  2. Good advice.

If they don't ask then I won't tell. They might decide to confiscate them, then you'll be "up a creek without a paddle"

But I do have a prescription for it (I guess I'll have to bring the script) just in case they find it.

    Thanks!

  3. I would save the trouble and not tell the port's security people unless they ask. Once aboard ask for a sharps container from Guest Services / the medical center.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Won't they see it on the scanner, maybe the scanners don't pick up everything (I'm thinking).

  4. This might sound a little strange asking this question, but is it necessary to point out to security that I have syringes in my carry-on bag? I take medicine once a week for arthritis and will have two syringes with me. They are packaged carefully, but this is the first time I've traveled using this medicine and I don't know the protocol when traveling with syringes.

    Thanks for your help!

  5. Wife and I are on Magic right now and we keeping looking around and asking ourselves...WHERE IS EVERYONE? Could it be time of the year? Weather problems for certain passengers? Not complaining...we love it. There is probably less than 3,000 passengers on this cruise when it holds 3690. This is our 6th cruise and so far the best. Crew has paid soooooo much attention to passengers. December cruises will be our thing now.:D:D

I'm actually thinking of a Christmas cruise with DH and I in 2015. I just love the idea of an almost empty (rather quiet) cruise. Not sure if I can pull it off, but will try. Have a wonderful time on your cruise and enjoy the empty (almost) ship!:D

  6. How many actually bring soda with them onboard??

Do you have to carry it on or can you send it to your room with the luggage? Also, what is the limit of what you can bring??

Was going to buy a soda card for just DH but since I read somewhere it's not fountain considering bringing our own

    Thanks

When DH and I go on a cruise, I buy the soda package because I drink coke all day long. My husband doesn't bother with it and just buys beer here and there, or drinks the free juice that is available on the ship. However, we do bring water on board. Yes I drink a lot of soda, but I also drink a lot of water and find that it is worth it to bring on board. We usually get a 12 pack and carry that on board.

  7. This cruise almost never happened for me and I was still reluctant to go as my dog was diagnosed with cancer for a 3rd time in June 2013, and what was supposed to be an easy surgery turned into months of chemo, weekly testing and well, as you can imagine, big time bucks. I decided since the Legend was going to be permanently moving to Australia and I had gotten such a good deal on our balcony, we would stick it out and take this trip and probably forego a cruise in 2014.

Southwest started flying out of Charlotte earlier this year so we no longer had to drive to Raleigh to get great rates on flights. However, there were no direct flights into Tampa and I really didn’t feel like flying through Houston and traveling for 8 hours the day before we set sail. So, I decided we would fly into Orlando and rent a car and drive to Tampa. The flight was uneventful and while waiting for our bags, I luckily overhead someone mentioning how incredibly long the lines can be renting cars at MCO. So while my BF waited for luggage, I briskly walked to the rental counter and got all that taken care of before our bags even arrived! FYI – while dropping off the car for our return flight, I noticed the lines to get rental cars was 100x worse than when I was there so I guess I got lucky. Picked out my Chevy Impala and off we went to Tampa.

After getting advice here on Cruise Critic, we booked the Double Tree in Rocky Point which overlooks the Bay. I made a reservation about 6 months in advance and was glad I did as it seemed to be completely booked well in advance of our sailing. I had originally booked us 2 double beds and at check-in, she upgraded us to a king and didn't even have to ask for the view! It was beautiful! After check-in, we dropped off our luggage and set out for a quick ride around town. Here are a few photos of our hotel room. The hotel is being renovated but we didn’t hear a single peep! For what I paid, I was really impressed with the accommodations!

Your room was quite nice and the view was excellent!

  8. And should I give carnival a call?

To be honest, I never fill out the forms, but I call every other week and ask them to check for a lower price and they do it for me. Just give them a call, I've never had anyone rude, they've always been pleasant and willing to help.

    Good luck!

  9. My family and I took the Mexican Rivera cruise on the Carnival Pride back in 2008. It was a great cruise and we loved it. My question to you is...on your cruise it looks like you spent two days in Cabo, is that correct? That's wonderful, wish they had done that back when we went. Glad you had a wonderful cruise and thanks for sharing your review with us.

  10. We want to go on a cruise 3/9-3/16 & was wondering how cold it is leaving baltimore & for how many days. Looks like your 2 days at sea before you get to Port Canaveral.

March is really a very iffy month on the East Coast. As someone mentioned, it can be 48 degrees or even 70 degrees. Be prepared by checking the weather on weather.com or your local News station. If you are driving and leaving your car at the port, you can always bring a heavy jacket and leave it in the car (if it's really cold that day), or you can dress in layers until you get on the ship. The great thing to remember is that you wont be in cold weather very long. As soon as you sail away, remember that you will be in warm weather shortly! Hae a wonderful cruise!

  12. I've always thought about going, but as some as posted, the price kept me from doing so. However, after reading reviews about the cruise here on CC, and also hearing it first-hand from friends who went, I will never go. Tom Joyner's staff is disorganized, no one knows what's going on. You pay for something and don't get it (i.e., paid for VIP access, have a wrist band, but can't get it). I hope that they will learn from this and do a better job, but I refuse to attend.

  13. Carnival is really cutting back on offering the ES rate. I'm guess if it's a popular cruise and/or selling well ES will only be offered when they first list the cruise (or perhaps not at all).

If/When the do offer it for other cruises, it won't be for long. I have a Dec. 2014 booked. Recently it was only offered for 3 days (then went poof) and it was $100 more per cabin for ES. I changed rates to ES anyway.

I have an Early Saver rate on the cruise I'm scheduled on for October 5th, 2014 out of New Orleans. I know it's not offered now, but I because it was sold out (is my understanding).

  14. If this was your first time doing a review, you did an AWESOME job. I loved the photos and reading your review was easy. Thank you for sharing your first cruise with us, but now I have to ask...how was your very first cruise? I know you enjoyed it, but was it exactly what you thought it would be, or different. Also, how did hubby like the cruise? I like to hear from first time cruisers and see if there is anything that I would do or not do on our next trip.

BTW, glad you were able to get yourself a Coach bag and wallet. I just love Coach and the purse and wallet are beautiful. Enjoy!

  15. Why doesn't the dad or daughter call Carnival directly and ask? If she calls and speaks with someone at the Corporate office level, she should be able to find out if she can go on a cruise again. Although we might think that it's not something that she should be banned for life on, underage drinking even here in the U.S. is something that is taken very seriously and I believe that Carnival feels the same way. If any thing had happened to her, the finger would be pointed back at Carnival for serving someone underage. Hopefully she will get some good news that she can take another cruise on Carnival, but if not, then there are other cruise lines!

  16. This will be my third cruise, second with Carnival. Today it finally hit me and I did a little woop woop and 30 second dance party. Cats were looking at me a little weird.:p

I have always said I would do a review and haven't. This time I really want to as I am unemployed and will clearly have the time...LOL....and therefore may be the last cruise for some time.

LOVE YOU ALL CC MEMBERS and those who tirelessly (GA Pearl, Mike and Tracy) who do great reviews!!!:):):D

Okay so when you return, I'm expecting a great review. Have a wonderful time and enjoy yourself. I would do the "woop, woop dance if I were in your shoes. My time on the Dream is still a ways off (October 2014), but I'm going to have fun waiting!!!
