I leave in 1.5 weeks and NOW I get yet another email that it needs my visa (born & bred in California. Sailing from Florida to Quebec) my dilemma is :: how do I cancel the medallion accessories ordered as website still states in process? Do I just cancel all?

Perhaps your best bet is to call the help line.

    1-844-525-0942, open 0500-2100 PDT Monday-Friday and 0600-1800 PDT Saturday/Sunday.

     No techies available on Saturday/Sunday.

Reportedly, best help comes from selecting 1 when get automated answer with prompt list.

    Good Luck!

  2. Okay, I will try. I have been faithfully following the reports for awhile now so I feel relatively up to date.  II know that I am Ocean Ready (for an 8/9 cruise) which means I have my personalizer completed and I have uploaded security and "avatar" photos and I have managed to turn all the pieces of the OceanReady circle green (personalizer, security photo, avatar photo, travel documents - like scanning passport data) and ordered my Medallions for both myself and my DH. (No, it wasn't straightforward or easy but I do have an order number.)

I know that my cruise is full medallion class, which includes the new high-speed internet called Medallion Internet. I know that I had to pay separately for the Medallion Internet and that I got a discount by ordering early although many folks say on the first day onboard I could get a further discount by surrendering my Platinum minutes. Won't know that until August 9th and don't really care.  The $12 discount for 10 days is not worth the effort to me right now.

There are other apps that when I am onboard will allow me to order drinks/food to wherever I am (not done that yet, seems a waste until just before I get on the ship) Ocean Now, one that will let me find my DH wherever he is on the ship (Ocean Compass) and give me directions. I know that neither of those  works except on the ship. I know that Ocean Concierge cannot be downloaded until on the ship. I know that none of them works perfectly or even close.  I have not tried to do anything with them yet.

I understand that for my DH to have the apps on his phone he will have to use a different email  for his login. I have a yahoo account that can be used for that. I am anxiously awaiting my Medallions and doing the happy dance.

That's the sum of what I have gleaned form all of these posts. Hope that this is helpful but if it isn't, my feeling won't be hurt.

  3. Questions for anyone who has boarded a cruise ship (Berth 22) in Quebec City.

It looks as if it could be a very long walk through the terminal and then up a long connecting, possibly steep, ramp to get on the ship.

Is that the case? We are mobility impaired and just trying to figure out if we should request wheelchair assist for embarkation when we enter the terminal.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

  4. Looking at restaurants in the lower city and I noticed in sandwiches, or as an addition to your breakfast, or as an addition to poutine something being called 'smoked meat'.

Can someone tell me what kind of meat this is and maybe relate it taste wise to something eaten in the US??

    Thanks for your help.

  5. Perhaps someone traveling alone is worried about stalking. Or they don't want it obvious there is only one person in the cabin, or only children, or only females. Or they have met someone on the ship they would prefer could not find them.

Does the find a shipmate software allow you to find just anyone? I didn't think it did so is the paper issue much different. (Of course, finding someone using the software versus going up every hall on every cabin deck requires much less effort.)

    :classic_unsure:

  6. Anyone aboard that is into wine??? Some times Princess offers a box of 3 wines for a special price and I am wondering if they are doing that on the Caribbean Princess.

Also, has anyone attended the Maitre d'/Sommelier's Wine Club wine tasting (the one that costs $25/person)? I would be interested in what wines they are offering. The Grapevine Wine Tasting is of interest, too.

  7. Minimum ownership of 100 shares (can be in a personal account or even an IRA) for the following OBC

    6 days or less    $50

    7-13 days            $100

    14+ days             $250

amounts are per cabin, so there is no OBC gain if each member of a married couple owns 100 shares and are in the same cabin

You must submit a fax or snail mail (NO EMAIL) prior to your cruise to Princess (address/phone # at the link above) stating your names, trip/ship, date of trip, booking # and proof of ownership. A copy of a brokerage report/page with your names visible and the stock info is proof (black out your account # and any other private info).

A good thing to note is that benefit is available on any of the brands listed at the link. We have use it for both Princess and Cunard.

Footbolt and Ancient Peaks would be good choices for a nice Red by the glass.

Thanks for the recommendation, happy cruzer. I looked for those wines locally and was unable to find them for my taste test.

I was able to find Ancient Peaks Oyster Ridge (red blend) and loved that but it is an entirely different price point. Did you like both the Ancient Peaks Renegade and the Merlot??

  9. Using my phone, email, and password, I have made both my DH and I ocean ready and ordered our medallions.

So, if he wants to use his phone onboard for apps, as I understand it I must download Ocean Ready on his phone and create a profile for him with a different email/password.  Will it know that he is ocean ready once I add the booking number? 😕

Or is there more I have to do??

  10. We can only hope that the difference pricing approach will be the new rule. I sure would be happy if that were the case.

Not sure that reports from two ships is enough to say this is a sure thing.

no - it is a problem on THEIR side if THEIR program only certain browsers / operating systems ... windows / IE

what do you use to access Ocean.com on your desktop ??

Actually, I just got a message when I tried to log in from my phone saying the system was down and they were scurrying around to fix it.

  12. On my Samsung, you press the volume up button and the power button at the same time and it takes a screen shot and puts it in your gallery. I spent a lot of time researching how to do that on the Internet. I also learned that my printer is not compatible with my phone and I could not print from my phone to it anyway. I did manage to transfer the screenshot to my laptop and print it.

Unfortunately, the whole ocean ready pass does not display on the screen and my screenshot was worthless.

Later, I discovered that I could go to ocean.com on my laptop and use my login for ocean ready and print it from there.

If you have your ocean ready pass, you do not need your boarding pass. It does say that on ocean.com.

I am not sure that we need the OC pass if we have our medallion. At the time I was playing with the OC pass, the software was telling me that I would have to pick up my medallion at the port as it was too close to sailing, or my cruise had sailed (it was 75 days out), or I was in an undeliverable area (a major metropolitan area in the US). Now, I have an order number for our medallions and I hope that means what I did worked.
