Not too happy to read this as I have a hard enough time sleeping in beds other than my own. Hoping at least the pillow will be what I need if I have to have a bad back from the mattress I don't need a neck ache too from a rock hard bed.

I am wondering why that they decided to raise the prices up so much higher in 2016? Last year they were almost half that.
-
Loving your review and remember there is no such thing as too many pictures. We sail January 3rd and can't wait. Thanks for some of the ideas to save space as I would have not thought of magnet hangers.

Great review and I loved all of it!
I was wondering if Royal Palms is a beach resort or an actual hotel resort in Grand Cayman?
-
Thanks clarea you been so very helpful. :)
-
Do they still give you bottled water with the premium drink package?
-
Thanks clarea, I was thinking that would be the case. We like the room we have so we won't be upgrading. :D

I am booked on my second Royal cruise so I'm not so sure how or if they handle reductions in price for a cruise. I am paid in full and now see the price is cheaper for the deluxe balcony we are booked in. Also I need to add that the hump balconies are sold out and that is what we are in if that matters. Instead of sitting on hold with RCL I was wondering if they will reduce the price or give OBC?
Thanks for any information

What are the names of bar/restaurants in the port area of Falmouth other than Margaritaville? Has anyone ever been there and how was the food/drinks?
-
I am enjoying your review so much. You even caught a picture of the balcony hump cabin that we will be in on Saturday. Love the pictures and indepthness of it all. I hope most of your cruise will be posted before we head out on Thursday night. Love it, love it and did I say love it!:D

Got off the Indy today. Left our cabin at 7:30 using self assist and was at the airport by 8:10 in plenty of time for our 9:50 flight. The Indy is always the first ship in port (arrives by 5:30) so an earlier flight is less risky than with other ships.
Sounds like the same flight we have. Does SW have sky caps outside for the luggage? How was check in and security for you?

FYI - I was just looking at some of the daily compasses and it states shorts, caps etc. are "not recommended" that is a far cry from prohibited - so wear what you are comfortable in and enjoy your vacation
Good to hear, yes a far cry from PROHIBITED. Thanks for finding this.
-
On 12/6 it was clearly listed in the compass " no shorts during evening meal". I did not see anyone wearing shorts on deck 3 of the dining room, but I wasn't particularly looking for them either.
I usually wear Dockers on casual nights.
Thinking to myself "maybe no more cruises after this one and sticking with our relaxed Hawaiian vacations. No dress codes and only need to pack swimsuits, tops and shorts." ;)
-
OP or anyone recently on the Independence. Did you notice if they allowed dressy shorts in the MDR on casual evenings?
-
So your saying my fancy embellished flip flops won't be allowed in the MDR?
They are not beach flip flops by any means.
-
Thanks Karen that is was I thought. Seems Royal says one thing about things and is another. Looking for options if we don't have the proper dress clothes accepted in the MDR.
-
First time cruiser with Royal and noticed this when looking at the descriptions of the Windjammer. Does this mean there is no buffet for dinner?
Windjammer Café
This seaside café offers buffet-style breakfasts and lunches. In the evenings, the café's casual atmosphere is complemented by a changing menu and restaurant-style service.

Formal nights on this ship did you see men in just nice slacks, shirt and tie? We are flying and taking snorkeling gear and limited on packing space for clothes. My husband doesn't even own a jacket and feel it's silly to buy one to wear once or twice. I'm not asking what the dress code is, just if people actually can go to dinner in the MDR in these clothes on formal nights.;)
-
What does the RCCL dress code say?
I know what it says. Just seeing if they enforce the rules. There wouldn't be a problem if rules were rules. ;)
-
I have seen reports that some ships do not have the caddy for shampoo and body gel in the shower. Does the Indy have it or not?
-
This will be our first RCL sailing and wondering what people recommend for casual nights for men. I find it very hard to get my husband into slacks and wondering if nice dress shorts are ok? Easy enough to get him to wear a collared shirt so no problem there.

Thank you for writing this review and Merry Christmas to you. We are getting so excited to be going on our first RC cruise in 23 days. Not a first time cruiser by any means, but excited as each cruise is like the first.:)
-
Thanks for all the replies. I wanted to book a later flight, but spending almost a whole day in FLL didn't sound much fun. We usually can be at the airport before 8am sailing on Carnival, but this is our first RCCL cruise.
Do you debark the ship the same place you embark?
-
Does RCCL offer an early debarkation for people with early flights? We want to self disembark, but wondering if these people with proof of early flights get first off?
New mattresses on the Freedom absolutely hard as a rock!

Maybe if everyone just goes to the Solarium to sleep they might get the hint. Hey maybe I might just take one of those lounge cushions to sleep on.
