  1. On the Pearl a couple years ago now, the pool deck appeared closed around dinner time (by 7 for sure), but that was just the crew cleaning up and stacking chairs. People did use the pool after dinner (and hottubs) and splash academy even had a takeover on a night or two where they were in the pool around 9 pm. I think in general most people are at dinner and the shows, the sun is down, it is breezy and cool... so not many enjoy being out in the pool in the dark anyway.

  2. Hi! I actually read your blog post prior to booking. We are super excited... the trip is about forever away tho. We have the escape in a few short months to pass the time lol.

I was trying to figure out what they have at the smaller venues like the bier garten... the ncl site says brats... I read pretzels somewhere... I just thought being in Europe the menus (like the mdrs) would differ some from the Escape in Florida lol

  3. Hi all... the menus on beyond ships are crazy outdated... in fact most of what I have found is from 2011. I assume the "fleet wide" menus are in place for most of the specialty dining. But what about blue lagoon, shogun, Henry's pub or the bier garten. Anyone have current menus for the places that are more unique to the Spirit?

  4. First time on NCL and on the Pearl. Regular RCCL cruiser with 10 cruises. If I chose to eat in one of the restaurants can I sit with a group of strangers like on RCCL? Any tips for the best restaurants without any additional charge?

You can ask if anyone has requested to be seated with strangers, it may be an option, but most people chose to dine with their own traveling companions.

The mdrs all serve the same menu so your choice which ambiance you want for the free venues. Other than O'Shehans which has its own pub fare and special nights like prime rib.

  5. I buy within a week of the fares releasing... The problem with this is the times of the flights usually change two or three times over the next 320 days give or take a few days. The plus is, I get the times I want, the seats I want, the connections I want... And usually I do not see the price drop below what I paid... Or if it does it isn't enough to ruffle my feathers.

  6. Thank you so much to everyone how has posted. The info is very helpful.

My 11y daughter and I are sailing in late September from Vancouver to Southern California. Could anyone give us tips about kid orientated activities and board besides the kids club in the climbing wall. My daughter is very busy and I'm hoping to have a list of things she can do before we leave. Also is there a DVDs player in the rooms or just a TV?

Thank you again to everyone. This is a great thread!

I know you said except for the kid's club... But for an 11 year old girl I think the Dolphins group is pretty amazing. The themes at night were loosely based on maze runner, hunger games and survivor... Pretty much a tween dream! I highly recommend having her go the 1st night and meet everyone... My daughter was nervous to tell me the next morning that she just wanted to go to kids club and not hang out with me at all. They also have sports court activities, take over the pool one night... It's a blast.

  7. Just an FYI to everyone, here is our upcoming cruise schedule confirmed so far:

August 20, 2016: 8 Night Norwegian ESCAPE, Recap sailing

October 27, 2016: 10 Night Royal Princess Halloween Cruise

December 31, 2016: 7 Night Carnival Conquest New Years Eve

I know that we will be scheduled for a Norwegian sailing in February or March, and I also want to go on the Norwegian Sky somewhere in there too , for a three/four day booze cruz.

Any suggestions? Who is sailing in February/March? You know that I have to get to Golden Level in the Casino by March 31st.

Oh please do the escape the last March 2017 sailing! Would love to sail with you guys!

  8. I just booked the CS for our spring break trip. Atlantis has a two night minimum stay during our visit and isn't selling 2017 day passes yet. Rather than risk it, I booked the room. Even with taxes and fees, it came to $140 pp which is less than the excursion from the ship. It's a ton of $$$ for a few hours at a water park, but we are west-coasters and probably would never go to Atlantis for a vacation. Dd who will be 13 for the trip is super excited!

  9. I just scoured someone's dailies and there were no tastings... We did the mojito, tequila and whiskey tastings on the Pearl and loved them. But I think the pp is right, so many people have the drink package now, why would you pay $15 for the tasting? Kind of a bummer, we actually learned a lot at the tastings.

  10. Yes, full flat loungers, we have a large balcony mini suite booked, but was thinking if we switch, I don't want to go back to upright chairs on my balcony. The one thing I really want is to be able to recline and read on our own balcony. The little bits I have found online make it hard to tell which haven cabins have larger balconies.
