I wish the Azamara Shoreside was half as good (and efficient) as the ships are.

We've been on Pursuit in April 2022 for two  b2b cruises - when  they  first changed the port of Venice to Ravenna.

Because this switch has been done quite late, we've been promised FCC of $300 pp as a compensation.

So far only one of us got the FCC (it happened late June, so more than 2 months after the cruise).

Now - a month later - I am still waiting for mine, although our TA called them several times and I wrote to them.  I didn't  even get an acknowledgment that they got my mails.

I know there were other people on b2b cruises with us at that time. I wonder if anyone else had  (has?) this problem.

Also - if we were b2b and the port was changed for both of  the cruises - are we eligible for the compensation for both of them? Just curious.. At this point I'll be happy to get it just for  the one!

My correspondence states that the $300 is per stateroom, not Per person.

It was poor in Lisbon also, taking 2 1/2 hours to get on from arrival. I initially thought it was the third party staff, but the bottleneck was the final part and getting on the ship.

It was a repeated topic I heard guests complain about.

Luckily after the first day (massive queues at the MDR), service generally improved. There were some minor niggles, but generally it was fine.

Embarked on Onward a couple of weeks ago at Athens.  The problem seems to be that no one was given specific check in times and everyone turned up at 2pm! Disappointing to hear that the situation is not sorted.

  3. I have just disembarked the Onwatd today and having cruised on the other Azamara, the Onwatd still needs some work. The public toilets are not refurbished and are a disgrace. The deck area looks dirty due to the flooring and the balcony furniture is a joke. I hope that Azamara work on this shop to get it up to par with others. I certainly would not return  until it is completed. The staff are excellent and food was also excellent.

I have boarded in Athens. Arrived at the pier at 13.00 hours. My test was done the day before in Athens at 9.30. There was no problem with that.

    Thank you.

There was more positivity then negativity.  Take it for what it is.  My only issue was the confusion going to Ravenna, but it was understandable because of the Italian government changing plans on Azamara.  But I thought everything was great on board.  Some testy people but they look like the type that just love to complain about the stupidest things.  One lady was yelling at a waiter complaining the the windows were dirty.  They had water spots on them.  Oh brother.  And the poor waiter had to take it.

    Thank you. This is reassuring.

We've just scrapped the boat to Oia idea after reading this thread and will do the bus instead but I have a few questions:

    1.  How do we find the bus stop in Fira?  Can anyone give us any clues as to which way to go once we're off the cable car or what it's near?

    2.  Should we buy a return cable car ticket in the morning?  Or pay one-way for them each time?

    Thanks for the help.

We have been in Santorini on a few occasions and never had a problem with the Ferry to Oia.

Mrmatt… we are booked on the Journey sailing from Athens on the 26th.  We have cancelled our (expensive) PCR test appointment and decided to go for an antigen in Athens the day before for 2 reasons…

Firstly, someone posted last week that their 72 PCR was not accepted on the May 17th Pursuit departure from Athens because it was older than 24 hrs, quoting Greek government guidelines.

Secondly, there is a very clear statement on the Princess website specific to Greece departures which says, because of Greek government guidelines,  both PCR or antigen tests must be dated on the day before departure.

That was enough to convince us that an antigen test in Athens is the way to go.

Thanks. This is helpful.  We will get tested in Athens prior to boarding day.

In case you have not read the whole of this thread - several cruisers who arrived with Azamara's requisite PCR tests did not have those results accepted in Piraeus.

Nobody seems to know quite why that happened, as the experience was well outside the posted Azamara requirements, as well as the current Greek Government requirements.

Perhaps one of those people affected may have elicited a reason?

If I was boarding a cruise in Piraeus at the moment, I would have a RAT / lateral flow / antigen test within 24 hours of boarding, rather than go to the expense of a PCR that well may not be accepted by the Greek testers.

    Thanks. Very helpful.

Mrmatt, we are onboard 18th June. from previous experience Azamara have got their together pretty quickly after maiden voyages.

I am hopeful and optimistic for our cruise on the 18th. Keep these threads informed when you are on board.

Thank you. This is reassuring. We have enjoyed any previous Azamara cruises without complaint.

  10. Thank you for the update. On Onward on 4th June and getting a bit concerned about all the negativity about the condition of the ship. Can you take some photos of the open area of windows, sunset area. Thanks.

I'm very pleased to read that Azamara have recognised the issues with the ship and come through with this generous offer. I hope that they get at least some of this money back from the shipyard and suppliers.

I am booked for 4  June on Onward and getting slightly concerned about all the issues being referred to. Can someone clarify what major issues are with the ship?

It gives the impression that tests are no longer required if the ship departs from Greece. It says quite clearly in the statement you have posted.

I will board tomorrow so I will know more then.

    Ivi

A post has just been put on from a traveller whose Pcr from Uk rejected at cruise port as Azamara are stating the Greek government requires a negative test 24 Hours prior to boarding.  This is another change!
