Does anyone have any experience of this excursion ? It is apparently only $10 for a roundtrip to the face of the glacier, leaving from mid-town Seward...
We will have 2 days pre-cruise in Seward arriving by train on Saturday morning and plan to visit Seavey's sled dog kennels on Saturday afternoon and then maybe take this shuttle to Exit Glacier on Sunday morning.
The Sea Life Center is also on our list...
Any other ideas on our shoestring budget ?
Thanks.

I thank each and everyone SINCERELY...You all contributed in setting my mind at ease....I would love to rather arrive in Anchorage at 17h00 than close to midnight...
THANK YOU ALL...it is really appreciated !!

Only one week to go...and SUPER excited....

Delta told our travel agent that they would put us on the next flight, should there be delays....However,it will only be 6 hours later.
I just thought that we could save time if we knew the layout of the domestic terminal of the airport and the proximity of arrival area and departure gates... but I cannot find such a clear map on the internet.
Thanks for your reply.
Sincerely.

Just as my problem with connecting time for our flight at San Francisco was sorted, Delta change their schedule for our flight from JFK to Seattle and from Seattle to Anchorage.... Now we have only sixty minutes between flights at Seattle Airport ...Fortunately both are domestic flights and our luggage will be booked through to Anchorage....
I cannot find a map showing the arrival and departure gates for Delta at Seattle Airport.
Will we manage ??
Thanks again.

Thanks njhorseman...we will travel on a Thursday morning to Anchorage....Maybe we should take the 6am bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal, just to be sure...we can always have some breakfast at the airport...?
I think I will purchase a return ticket on the website...then we will save time both ways...
Thanks again.

We plan to make use of the NYC Airporter bus from JFK to our hotel which is located very close to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on W42nd Street in mid-town Manhattan
My Question is whether it is necessary to buy our bus tickets on-line before we fly, or will it be okay and easy to buy it at JFK when we arrive ?
Furthermore, at what time should we leave from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in the morning to catch our flight at 10 am to Anchorage ?
We leave in less than 2 weeks for our Alaska cruise...and could't be more excited... !!!
Thanks for caring enough to answer..

Does anyone know whether there are wi-fi hotspots in the following Alaskan ports...?
Seward, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway or Ketchikan...
Excuse my ignorance if there is no such thing...
Thanks.

My friend and I will sail on Norwegian Sun in Alaska second week in September and I am sincerely grateful for all the info on this topic....
Although we are geared for cold and rainy weather, I will make sure we have all that was mentioned in all these answers...
We are from sunny South Africa and not really accustomed to very cold and wet weather...
Sincere thanks from a VERY excited,

Thanx for all the feedback...I am starting to feel more confident...
Yes, we will be on one ticket for the entire journey and we will have our luggage checked right through...we will not make restroom, or any other stops on our walk between terminals....
Our tickets were already book a year ago, but the time changes were only made a week ago by the airline ie. Delta.
I appreciate your help...and will look at the airport map.
Thanx again.

Philob,
So, even if you had 90 minutes or more, it would still not have been enough...?
One can really not plan for ALL things that can go wrong...I actually just wanted to know whether the layout of the SFO airport would allow us to get to the boarding gate on time,,,we will already be in possession of boarding passes and the airline will transfer our luggage to the next airplane.... Delta booked these flights themselves.
Thanks for your reply.

When we return from Vancouver to New York after our cruise from Seward next month, we only have one hour from landing at SFO to departing for New York. Both flights are on Delta.
Would there be a problem getting from arrivals to departures in that short time...? What if the flight from Vancouver is delayed...? We have to board a flight from New York to Johannesburg at JFK. I am very nervous...Who will be responsible for the cost if we miss any of these flights ?
Please tell me we will be okay...!

We are 2 ladies in our mid sixties and will spend 3 days pre-cruise in New york in the beginning of September, staying at the Row NYC Hotel.
Any suggestions on how to spend our time if it should rain.... We are on a very low budget, given the bad exchange rate of our currency !
Sincere thanks.

Thank you, njhorseman...your suggestion makes a lot of sense !
Do you know if we can buy the tickets on the day at the departure points for the Water Taxi ?
Thanks.

Is it possible to buy tickets for New York Water Taxi at Battery Park on the day....? we will visit NYC 31 Aug to 2 Sept this year.
I would not like to buy online ahead of time in case of bad weather...
Is it advisable to walk from 9/11 Memorial to Battery Park or should we rather take the free shuttle bus "Downtown Connection" ? At what stop do we get off for the Water Taxi ?
Where will we find Metro Card vending machines...we plan to take the No 20 bus from West 42nd to Lower Manhattan.
SO MANY Questions...Please HELP.
Sincere thanks.

Thanx for the good news about seeing whales from the deck of our ship...I sincerely hope we do....The whale watching excursions are way beyond our means...

Thanks for the feedback !
We will be in Seward from 11h00 on Saturday until Monday afternoon when our ship departs.. I have thought about Seavey's for the dogs and it looks like a good option for Saturday afternoon... On Sunday we plan to do the trip to Exit Glacier @ only US$ 10 return trip with the local Shuttle and visit the SeaLife Center in the afternoon...
We are both completely mobile and will seriously consider the walk along the Marina in Icy Strait Point and then return for a good Fish&Chips meal for lunch and then walk to Hoonah and visit the cannery...as we have the full day in ISP.
Thanx again.

We will be on Norwegian Sun in the first half of September cruising Alaska from Seward to Vancouver...
What do the ladies wear for dinner ?
On our Med cruise on Norwegian Spirit in October 2 years ago, people dressed up for supper in the main dining rooms...
Sincere thanks.

My friend and I, 2 ladies in our mid-sixties, will be cruising Alaska for the first time on Norwegian Sun, early in September this year... PLEASE talk to us about spending our day in Icy Strait Point without going on an excursion ?? Our budget is busted due to the drastic weakening of our currency (SA Rand).
I would also like to know the most cost effective way to encounter Sled Dogs...
Our itinerary : Seward, Icy Strait Point, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Vancouver...
We are SO excited and counting the days...
Sincere thanks.

Thank you ! Thank you !
I dont know what I would have done without all the wonderful people on this Board....I planned everything for this 3 week vacation by myself and would not have been able to do so without your constant helpful answers and suggestions...
We are now one week away from leaving home and I can safely say that we have just about everything under control...
Thanks again.
