My friend and I, two healthy ladies in our mid sixties, will have one full day (a Friday) to spend in Anchorage in September 2015, before we board the train to Seward where we will spend 2 days before our 7 day cruise to Vancouver.
We will be staying at Comfort Inn Ship Creek.
What can we see and do without spending much money ?
We are not too keen on museums and history.
Sincere thanks.

Thanx to everyone.
My only concern will be to charge the batteries for my camera and my cellphone...

My only real concern will be to charge my camera batteries and my cellphone.
I will find out in our stores what the position is.
Thanks again.

What is the format of the power points on the Sun ?
We are from South Africa and we will have to bring adaptors.
Can we use appliances of 220V ?
We will also be in hotels in New York, Anchorage and Vancouver.
I will sincerely appreciate any information.
Thanks.

Thanx LHT28,
What would we have to do to use 220v appliances ?
Thank you

Can anybody let me know whether the electrical power points in Canada are the same as those in USA ...I cannot seem to find adaptors for Canada.

Dear mapleleaves
Thanks for responding again...
We have an extra day after the day of disembarkation...but on second thoughts we might just stay in Vancouver and enjoy what the city has to offer.
Gardyloo has made some wonderful suggestions, so it seems that we will have more than enough to do (and save some serious money)
Thanx again.

Dear Gardyloo,
To say that I REALLY AND SINCERELY appreciate your feedback and suggestions, would be an understatement...to say the least !!
Our trip is already costing us an arm and a leg (due to our VERY shaky currency) and to save such a huge sum of money is an absolute bonus...
Some of the attractions you mention, I have never come across in any travel guide or on any website.
Sincere thanks.

Dear mapleleaves,
Vancouver would be our port of disembarkation after our 7 day Alaska cruise from Anchorage (Seward) in mid September 2015.
How would the weather affect both these excursions...?
Thanks for the advice on the clothing and shoes...
Sincerely.

We have a difficult choice of excursions from Vancouver :
1) Full day to Victoria @ $180
2) 6hrs North shore to Capilano Bridge and Grouse Mountain @ $130
with maybe some time left for a trolley ride through Stanley Park...
Please HELP. ???
We are 2 healthy ladies in our mid sixties and no chance of ever visiting Vancouver again.
Thanks.

If all goes well, my friend and I, South African ladies in our mid-sixties, will be on a cruise from Seward to Vancouver in September 2015...
I have bought a waterproof rain jacket from a local store and I would like to know if it would be a good idea to shop for the fleece jacket to wear under it, in New York or Anchorage or Seward where we will be spending a few days before the cruise.
Any suggestions on places to find the jacket and maybe some gloves and a warm hat for a reasonable price....I thought it might make a good souvenir if I bought it elsewhere...?
I have a good pair of leather walking shoes..will I need some sturdy boots if we don't plan on doing any adventurous hiking or dog sledding on glaciers... just normal walking in the ports...?
Thanks for your time.

Hallo FamilyOfSix,
Thanx for your input...We have decided to do neither of the 2 cities, but to spend the remaining 3 days in Vancouver and Victoria and then see Miami in two years time when we will do a Caribbean cruise.
Sincerely.

Please help with suggestions for affordable, good location hotels for my friend and I, two ladies in mid-sixties for a 2 night stay in Montreal.
we would like to see some of the old town and maybe a trip to Mont Royal.
Our alaska cruise will end in Vancouver and we will spend 2 nights on our way home (Johannesburg) in Montreal.
Holiday Inn Select Centre Ville was suggested ??

Well, I guess my mind is made up for me by people who know much better than I can ever know by doing any amount of reading...
I thank you all sincerely for taking the trouble to respond to my plea...

Thanx again.

Hi SadieN,
We will be there by mid-September...what is the weather like ? Not that it is very important...
Thanks for the comment.

I suppose that I should have expected to sound a bit dumb in posing such a question.... and I did deserve the answer...
In South Africa it most probably would have been a choice between a beautiful beach resort or an exciting bushveld safari,,,and I would also not have understood that someone could not make up their own mind...
I will follow your advice and do some homework.... Thanks for taking the time to talk to me...
Sincerely.

my friend and I are 2 ladies in our mid-sixties and will end our Alaska cruise in Vancouver and then spend 2 days there.
From Vancouver we have a choice to either fly home (Johannesburg) via Montreal or Miami. We could also spend 2 days in either of these cities ...
We have never been to USA before this trip.
Prior to the Alaska cruise we will also spend 3 days in New York...
Please help us choose : Montreal or Miami ???
Regards.
