  1. Hello everyone,

We will be on a Sojourn cruise in the New Year visiting some Asian countries where Australians need a visa (Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam). The cruise literature has said that visas will be available on board for some natonalities but Australians aren't mentioned. Before we contact Seabourn does anyone have experience as to whether Australians can access the same service as US citizens in this regard?

Out TA says we can but it would be great if it was articulated in the literature.

    Thanks

  2. I have been reading about the "grind" in the faroes being the annual killing of hundreds of pilot whales. Sounds appalling. Sea Shepherd and other protesters are currently in the islands to disrupt the kill. Our cruise will be visiting Torshavn next week and wondered if anyone has experienced any problems in The Faroes arising from the "grind"?

  3. Hi Perlgirlnj,

On our first Seabourn cruise last year we took a guarantee on the Pride and drew 200 which was a window cabin way up front - and we loved it. On deck 5, very close to get out to the hot tub, cabin was a great size and window big enough to lie in bed and enjoy the view. We had some rough weather and didn't suffer at all. Haven't been on the Legend but the Pride was well maintained before its sale. We enjoyed the entire experience and are about to set sail on our third Seabourn cruise in a few days.

You can avoid formal night by booking in the verandah and on other nights a sports jacket / nice pants and top fit in very well. My other half takes a dark suit for formal night but doesn't bother with a tux.

I'll leave more experienced cruisers to give you a more comprehensive answer.

    Have a great time!

  4. Hi Grumpy,

Have a great time. We took our first Seabourn cruise, also out of Copenhagen, this time last year and were hooked from the first day. About to head off on our third voyage in a few weeks. Thanks for the tip re Heathrow. We are flying back into the UK for a few days before heading home to Perth after the Dover/montreal Quest cruise and would have hated to have forfeited our beloved iPads for the sake of a charge!

    Look forward to your reviews.

  5. Hello all,

We will be taking a Quest cruise ending in Montreal later in the year and would like to take a walk down to the old town and have lunch before we head off to pick up our hire car and leave the city

Does anyone know whether we are able to leave luggage at the port or does Seabourn allow the luggage to be left in its custody for any time?

    Thanks

  6. We were on the December cruise which included South Georgia and we had an equally great experience as those on the later cruise. The expedition team were incredibly professional and landings were managed very well. The Captain was a star and working with the expedition leader managed to get us an extra day in South Georgia. I'd highly recommend these cruises for anyone who wants to set foot on the peninsula with a highly skilled team but doesn't have the desire or capacity for a full on expedition. The Seabourn comforts don't hurt either.

  7. Cruzer9---Nice summary of what sounds like a great experience.

A year ago, we were also booked on a Silver Explorer Antarctica cruise. When we became aware of the Quest option we decided to change.

The Silver Explorer sounded excellent, and based on Cruise Critic reading we were quite sure it would have more serious information sessions, and a more extensive range of landing experiences. Maybe more serious, and more extensive, then we wanted?

We love a good cruise on a well-appointed ship with a range of dining, entertainment, and activity options....but we also like to explore.

We didn't want a "drive-by" cruise that would take pictures and never land (perfect option for some)....nor were we sure we wanted to go an "school field trip" vacation (perfect option for others).

We leave for Santiago in four days and will be on the Quest in a week. We'll see if it's the perfect option, for us . Who knows, we may get hooked and return on the Explorer in the future.....or we may be content with our Quest memories.

You have exactly expressed why we too booked the Quest GeneBK, taking the middle road seemed perfect for us. We are excited to be leaving on Sunday for Santiago also and fully intend to enjoy some Seabourn luxury combined with an experience we would never otherwise have had. The adventure option seems far too full on for us but going all that way and not setting foot on land is definately not enough. Safe travels.
