  1. Much to my surprise the video of Coral and Island Princess showed people playing Pickle Ball and even mentioned it. This is a game found in many senior resorts in the past few years. It's like tennis but on a much smaller court. The reason I ask is that my DH loves the game and he'd have me signing up right away! It would definitely be a win win situation! If you are aware of this on any of the ships please let us know.

  2. I just booked an angled balcony cabin on the Regal for next year. It's on Lido deck right next to the pool area. I love cabins on Lido deck for convenience, but not sure if we'll have any noise issues. Our daughter has cabin next to ours and we're hoping to open the divider between us. Has anyone had this cabin, or know about it?

  3. Thinking of booking cabin L302 on Lido deck. This cabin has a larger balcony and butts up against the Horizon Court. I'm wondering if there would be any negatives to this cabin.

Perhaps noise or people looking down? Anyone had this cabin or a cabin this close to HC?

  4. We are planning to book one of these ships for next year. I thought for sure it would be the new Regal, but notice Ruby will be doing the same trip with one extra port being Turks. Ruby is a little less money, but this far out it's hard to say if it will end up that way. Those who have sailed Ruby or Royal what do you think? We haven't been on either class.

  5. Planning to book two side by side cabins on the new Regal Princess. This is a sister ship to the Royal. Has anyone had the aft balcony cabin? I'm wondering how you liked it and if there were any problems with soot. Also how many people can they accommodate? What kind of discount for 3rd and 4th person? Can the balcony dividers be opened?

  6. This is very interesting. I was under the impression that TA's could no longer offer lower fares than the cruise line. However they could offer perks. Can you book on your own and then transfer to an agent later if you find a better deal?

  7. sknight Do you book completely on your own, or do you use a personal planner from Princess? When you cancel and re-book are you able to get your same cabin? We are booking with another couple and want cabins next to each other.

  8. After a few years of cruising other lines we are coming back to Princess next year. We are platinum and have always loved Princess. We left to find ships with more action to take our grand-kids on. They loved Carnival, but I miss Princess!

We are planning to cruise the new Regal Princess next year. As I remember Princess is more difficult to get price drops from. They often state for new bookings only. Those of you that have been with them recently, what is your thoughts? Prices seem high right now.

One of the things I liked about Carnival is you always get the lower price!

  9. I'm so sorry I should have said Anchorage to Whittier. Vancouver is no where close to Whittier. Now is there a train that goes from Anchorage to Whittier? Maybe renting a car is the best way to get there.

  10. How far is the train ride from Vancouver to Whittier? That's the one thing we want to try and do, and still not book the land tour. We're thinking Princess for our cruise, but that could change.

  11. We've cruised quite a bit and Alaska is still on our bucket list. I usually book my own cruises and air, as I've had problems with TA's in the past. For some reason this time I don't know where to start. I think this time we want to do cruise only, although the travel by rail I think we would enjoy. We want to do Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay. I'm noticing if we sail late Aug. or early Sept. we can save a lot of money. What is the weather like? Is it worth it or would it be too cold? Which ship is preferable? If anyone can give me some insight I would appreciate it. Is it better to start up north or south?

  12. We are taking two grandsons on a cruise. Their ages are 13 and 8. Which one would they enjoy the most? We've been on the Dream and the Sunshine and enjoyed them both. We liked the new additions on the Sunshine, but didn't care for the change in the theater and felt many areas were way too cramped. Example the comedy club was too small and poorly designed! Food Court was much better than the Dream.

  13. We are sailing on the Sunshine on the 18th, so getting close. We have set time dinning so we'll probably get put in the smaller dinning room. Is the experience pretty much the same there? Do the waiters dance on the tables like in the larger dinning room? My grand-kids loved that! Also are most food areas on the Lido free or are there charges for some? Is there a thrill theater that you buy passes for, and is it worth it? We're taking two teenage grandsons this year and thought they might enjoy it.

  14. Did any of you use the ship luggage service? I'm wondering how the JOS handles this. I guess it costs $20. Some ships you still claim it in baggage, and get it to the airline truck. Others say you put tags on your luggage the nite before and you don't handle it again until you get home. That would be my dream! If any of you that have been on the Jewel have used this please let us know. Thanks!

  15. Just found out my flight schedule has changed and I will have to spend one night post cruise in San Juan. What price should I bid for a resort hotel. I need it on Feb. 10th, which is real soon! Pre-cruise were staying at the Caribe Hilton, which I got for $70. That's a good deal, but they are all booked as most other hotels. My only thinking is that if one hotel has rooms they may be glad to move them this close. Has anyone else had this situation?

  16. Thank-you again for your help! You have really went the extra mile! I appreciate your help and I plan to check this out. I did join betterbidding.com last week but had trouble finding what I was looking for. Hopefully now with the help you've given me I will be successful. I will let you know. I think the Quorum sounds like a nice hotel, but I'll see what they offer for my date.

  17. Thank-you so much for trying to help me out. I'm very familiar with Priceline and how it works. I've been trying a couple of times a week hoping to get something. I've had no luck. I've never used Hotwire. I'm having trouble using Betterbidding finding the list of Hotels. I use Biddingfortravel a lot, but they have no information about Hotwire. Can you tell me how to find the information that you referred to? I've spent quite a bit of time on that site and I just get lost!

  18. The Doubletree sounds great, but I don't qualify for the goverment rate. The last time I checked it was $229. That's more that I want to spend. I thank-you for your reply and I'll just have to keep checking and hope something turns up! I am getting a little nervous as time is running out for me. I've always had something booked by now. This is our first time sailing out of Tampa, and it has definitly been the most difficult to find a hotel!

  19. I can't help you with your discision on which hotel. Reviews on the Quorum sound better than the Doubletree. I have been wanting the Doubletree because of their shuttle service to the port and then from the port to the airport after the cruise. We are sailing on March 2nd, so I need to get something booked soon. Valuetrips is no longer offering the Amerisuites for the date I need, so at this point I don't even have a back-up!! Hopefuly someone will help us both out with some good advice. Keep us informed as to what you decide.

  20. I have a feeling that no one seen my question regarding the Amerisuites Airport location. Has anyone stayed there? I read a review that said it was getting run down and not all that clean! Also what's with in walking distance for places to eat? I would appreciate any help, as I'm not familiar with Tampa at all!
