  1. On our last cruise on Freedom, our Assistant Waiter gave all the ladies little roses that he handmade. I'm not sure of the material that they were made out of, it wasn't plain paper...it was something else. He said he likes to sit and make them at night because they remind him of home. It just puts it in perspective when you hear things like that. It touched me and was such a wonderful souvenir to have. You can't put a price on something like that.

Also, we were on Enchantment when Prince William and Kate got married. The ship allowed anyone wishing to, to renew their wedding vows free of charge and they gave out nice certificates to commemerate the day. I was not married at the time and couldn't partake, but I thought that was a lovely gesture for them to do that at no charge to give people a beautiful, unexpected memory.

Lastly, also on our Freedom cruise...our room steward was nice...but not "wow" and wasn't into personal conversation much. We love to connect with our room stewards since we are spending the week with them. We ended up having a great week because of the room steward down the hall. He was always waiting to see us and crack a joke. We couldn't wait to round the corner to see him and see what he was going to be up to. At the end of the trip, I emailed RC to sing his praises...he truly made it a great week for us!

  2. This person made a post and simply asked if others encountered it too. I cannot believe that most of the responses were rude.

I agree with Ocean Boy, if you are blocked in your room, how do you propose the person "goes around it"? Aye, aye, aye!

I don't know about other people, but I get one vacation a year and every penny I earn counts. I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to enjoy it without that kind of trouble.

They could record their film between turnovers so that their guests aren't as impacted.

    Sheesh.....

  3. Aw thank you :)

I am definitely going to have to try it next time, I think it's not knowing what to expect which is worrying me and also I guess I'm scared I'd make a fool of myself with other people round the table!

You are not alone! I get anxiety and if it weren't for my husband I would have a harder time joining strangers for dinner. Once I get past that first initial night, I feel better and if things are bad we can always request to be moved.

  4. 1. I had not done photos for a long time. I ask others on the boards and was told I still had to use a photo hosting site. I think in years past I had to use photobucket. However, I found out on here that I can use shutterfly (where I store all my photos anyway) The way I did it was to open shutterfly in another tab. You need to open the photo and then right click, you will get an option "copy image ULR". click on that and then come back to your reply. click on the "insert image" icon at the top of here. (The little yellow box that looks like a mountain in it. ). that will open another box and you paste the url . took me a little bit to get used to doing it, but once you get the hang of it, its really easy. Every once in a while it wouldn't post the photo and i would have to try a second time. Not sure why this would happen?? Good luck. Hope I explained it right.

    2. Yes there was a drink of the day each day. I don't drink much different. Don't like paying for a drink and then not liking it. The drink of the day was $7.75 plus tip (9.15) Here are the ones we had for the week:

Bahama Mama: shows same description as Pirates Punch. ????

Pirate's Punch: orange and pineapple juices, spiced rum and grenadine

Caribbean Tea: Vodka, rum, gin, curacao and sweet and sour, with sprite

Melon Margarita: tequila, triple sec, melon liquer, and sweet and sour

Pirate's Hurricane: blend of tropical juices, peach schnapps, spiced rum, vodka, and sprite

Pom Tree Margarita: Jose Cuervo margarita, with pomegranate, triple sec and sweet and sour mix

Caribbean Sunshine: vodka, triple sec, orange and sprite.

Thank you for the quick reply!!!! It is great news that it worked with Shutterfly as that is who I already use. I'll have to test it out!

Thanks for the drink info too...the DOTD price doesn't seem too, too bad. Maybe I will just stick with those throughout the week.

    May 9th can't come soon enough!!! :)

  5. I am completely 100% with you! When my hubby and I cruise alone we always request a big table.

-Our first cruise we had a blast! Loved our table mates and it made the week great!

-Second time, the rest of our table mates were all from the same family. It made us feel like the oddballs. They did chit chat with us some...but it seemed forced. Also, the one guy liked to over exaggerate all of his stories. If they were good stories it would have been fun, but not so much with this guy!

-On our last cruise, all of our table mates were great and again, we got along well with each other. Hung out on the ship together and managed to do an excursion together. We all took pics together. It was a lot of fun.

We are leaving in a few weeks and I have the "anxiety" you referenced. It would never ruin our trip, but it sure does make it so much more fun when you have a great group of people to share time with!

  6. Yay!!! Thank you so much for answering my "Need Adventure Reviews" thread!!!! It is exactly what I was looking for!

Your trip looked amazing (and tiring, lol!). I have to say, your mother in does not look any bit of 82!!!! God bless her!

St. Maarten is definitely a fav of ours and we are excited to go back...the rest will all be new ports for us so we are excited.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this during the holiday, I know it's time consuming and I very much appreciate!!!!

I promise to return the favor when I return from ours.

    Two questions:

    1) What photo hosting site did you use to do this review?

    2) With the issues with the drink prices being higher now, did they get rid of the Drink of the Day? They were usually slightly cheaper...are they gone now?

    Thanks!!!

  7. Oh no!!! All the comments about the deck 6 balconies are concerning me. I am supposed to be in a deck six balcony on 5/9 and I had questioned whether or not they were good and I got decent responses at the time. The only concern was not seeing out the bottom of the balcony rail. I'm sure I have no other options this late in the game. Ugh!

It's my first ever balcony and I would love for it to be great!

  8. I agree with pp, when I've gone on Spring Break, it's the younger children (high school or younger) with their families that are more previlent. The majority of the college crowd is heading to Cancun or various local beaches. I think you would be fine if you don't mind the little kiddos.

You wouldn't have to tell me twice...I would be on in a heartbeat! Go for it!!!!

  9. So, it seems I'm going against the grain of everyone else's opinion, but my husband I did the ship excurson that was dolphin swim & dunns river falls combined. We enjoyed it thoroughly. We had a great shuttle driver that gave us lots of educational info on the way there and back. Personally, I like seeing "the real" Jamaica too....not just the tourist version.

In our travels I got to see real homes and real churches and a real got standing on top of a fence to reach fruit on a tree! I loved it all.

We were at our destination before we knew it. The falls are beautiful and you feel a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top. The views are amazing, but it is work and you do have a chance of slipping and falling, so if you are not physically fit you may want to think it over before taking it on. I had to laugh at one point because for some reason, I thought I had reached the top and my husband pointed out I was only about half way there! lol

I would not hesitate to book the excursion and I agree with pp, you should at least do it once!

  10. Yay! Congrats on your engagement! It sounds like you two will hold special memories of it!

This May is our first time back on Adventure after being engaged on her in 2009....I can't wait!

I'm totally cracking up about the tongs....Not only is it not sanitary if they fall all the way in, but they are impossible to touch! Yet the food is not...too funny!

Thank you for this little trip report. It does help feed the frenzy while waiting.

  11. You are going to hear some say they can be and others say they aren't. I'm in the "I didn't find them noisy" category. We did two promenade rooms and would book them again happily. I love being able to look out and people watch, see parades from above, etc. If there is any noise at all...it's muffled and I never heard it during sleeping hours...only during parades.

Just remember to close your curtains when you want your privacy! wink, wink

Congrats on your awesome upgrade!! Woohooo!!!

  12. I absolutely enjoyed your review! You have a beautiful family and got some really great pictures!

We are doing a similar itinerary in May and I am excited to be staying in PR the day before and the day after for the first time! Do you have any recommendations on places to eat in Old San Juan by chance?

We plan on touring Old San Juan the day before our trip and trying to do El Yunque the day we come back....if I can ever reach a tour guide! lol

Thanks again for the wonderful review....I enjoyed reading it so much I was sad it ended!

  13. Hi CC family...

I emailed Ellis a few days ago and have not heard back from him. I was trying to inquire if he is available for a rain forest tour.

Does anyone have any suggestions or does anyone have recent contact info for him?

He has such good reviews on here....I don't know who my alternate choice would be.
