Cuba
in Cunard Line
Depending on how things play out in Congress, it could be much longer than that.;)Indeed. Coca-Cola will object. Cuba libre will soon be mixed of rum and local orange juice:D

Only done two cruises so far, but seen very few ladies in trousers on a formal night. Seen many evening and cocktail dresses though.
DW has always the trousers on (German joke, may not be understood elswhere without giving it a thought)

Are you not surprised that when I asked how to get to the airport, they said "I don't know"
I have now idea of how to get to the airport of Manila. Am I dumb?
Btw. I'm sitting in the priority waiting area of the Ocean Terminal - everything is as it used to be. Only the security check area has doubled in space. I used the luggage tags from the booklet.
Cunard had sent a limo to Heathrow so we were here within 1.5 hrs. Airport transfer is perfectly arranged.

I've already heard better jokes about blonde females ...
It wasn't a joke about blondes, it was a joke about Paris:D
-
Inheritance possibly.
David.
Without inheriting the brains? A, yes, there are some spectacular examples, mostly female and blonde...
Btw. DW is still packing. I took 30mins...:D

Well, BlueRiband, I met all sorts of filks in my life. And I wondered constantly of how they got where they were. A whole huge nation makes me wonder still.:D
-
Just come and be as beautiful as possible. Dresscode is a Gentleman's issue:D

PARTIAL QUOTE
Reminded me of this...
...conversation occurred in the 1950s between the Tempelhof ATC and a departing BEA pilot who was having trouble following his taxiing directions. The ATC finally snapped at him impatiently, "Vat iz the matter wit you? Have you never to Berlin before been?" To which the British pilot replied, "Oh yes, dozens of times old boy, but it was dark and we never actually landed you see."
Is this funny?
Depends on your nationality
not even that. My parents were definitely liberated by the Allied Forces.

What's up with Cunard? I think we may have been on the same cruise (November 4-6). I think getting disembarkation information to the passenger is the cabin steward's responsibility. In my lowly Britannia cabin the information arrived without a hitch. What's Cunard doing, assigning the incompetent stewards to QG cabins, perhaps on the theory that they have fewer cabins to mess up on?
Roy
I don't think it's the butler's (Q3!) fault. The OP hadn't booked a transfer.

Did I miss something?
Someone mentioned the war:eek:
-
Thanks for that link!!
Captain Wells it is :)
Cheers
He is the one who anounced a blizzard with the comment: "QM2 will almost make it!" Great fun travelling with him as the master.

How should I have been aware? If I book a package (Ship and flight) it was my expectation that they would include transfer. I really do think they should know if they are included!
In fact, I think they were included - but the Purser's Office couldn't be bothered to look it up.
I do think Cunard should only accept passengers who read and clearly understood their travel documents. If in doubt ask your TA and don't blame the operator for own ignorance.
-
pretty often transfers are included in a package which combines cruise and airfare. I don't know how it is in the UK, here it's pretty much always.
I am using this service frequently. Special luggage tags are issued 2 days before disembarkation to your stateroom in an envelope with clear instruction how to proceed.
If transfer is on your own an information stand is inside the cruise terminal.
The train strike was cut buy a day so you were lucky indeed. Cunard couldn't know this as noone knew.
Just packing for QE now:)

Diamond membership is reserved for our most travelled guests who have completed 15 voyages or 150 nights on board.1 In recognition of this achievement, Diamond Cunarders will continue to receive all of the Silver, Gold and Platinum benefits, in addition to the following exclusive rewards:
• ....
• Priority disembarkation8
Ah, travelling Grills I never noticed this. Tks.
-
I don't believe it was a better than you attitude. As long as Cunard offer entitlements for loyalty, passengers are right to expect to receive them, though in my experience disembarkation is more dependent on other factors such as distance to travel and general travel arraignments.
The passenger was obviously not a aware of the recent changes. Obviously not a CC reader.
David.
As far as I remember there had never been a WC status preference for disembarkation. Only the waiting area is separate.
-
Thanks for the confirmation..it seems as soon as we reach a different loyalty level with different cruise companies they move the goalposts! First time with priority coming up and they change how they do things..typical!
Indeed. I used to receive free nights at the Waldorf. No it's only small discounts on the highest available rate. Upgrading is to the discretion of the management and still practise.

Cunard is reccomending embarkation tim for a long period now. But they always accepted luggage at any time.

Cunard runs a bus shuttle from Heathrow Airport (all terminals). It has to be prearranged by your TA.

We have very good pubs in England, one local one with a Michelin star. We eat there on a regular basis and enjoy the food very much. We also eat at restaurants at the top end of the scale when travelling.
I feel sorry for you if you think that the best food can only be found in expensive restaurants.
Your last comment about me being "working class" is possibly a very good reason to avoid Cunard, snobbery is alive and well.
Most pubs resemble midieval standards of hygiene and food quality, as well as the behaviour of the staff and guests. I do prefer to have a higher standard. My thing, not yours.
The working class remark was just ironically. I have to work too.
-
I have exactly the sane as you for my upcoming short trip on the Q.E. I also am Diamond but I am in a Britannia BC Balcony cabin.
So red with a purple square is the colour code for difficult passengers?
-
Pardon my ignorance, but why is orange funny?
Ah, you never travelled QM2 obstructed view before? Orange is everything you see when looking straight out of the window.
-
I guess if you ask 6 different people they will give you 6 different replies, as usual!!
Wasn't it: ask 6, get 12 opinions?
-
I've got a box inside a box - so the outer box is red and the inner box is silver and orange stripes. We are Platinum, Britannia, obscured balcony cabin!
Orange - they still have their humor, thanks to that:D
-
Elaine,
we all respect your contributions to our journeys, especially your rowing:D
I don't think travelling BR on a Cunard ship is anything like a 'don't do that'. The differences are hardly not noticeable when on the ship.
New Years Eve in Amsterdam?
