  1. Hello all Princess Experts!

DH and I will be spending a beach day at Princess Cays. I have tried to find some information, but an unable to locate anything but a map of the space.

We are looking for recommendations of where to set up camp, so to say, for the day that has the following things:

    1. Shade

    2. Snorkeling

    3. Close to restrooms and or lunch/beverages

    4. Non rocky beach entry to the water

We are willing to forgo one or more of there is a go to place that is amazing for one or more of what is listed. We are also willing to pay a same fee for any of the above, but not a cabana.

Where do you like to go?

  2. May of 2014 saved us $1600 off our Alaska cruise tour....those were the days.

We did get the first price drop since ‘14 this past week on the Green Monday sale. Saved $500 and got an additional $100 in OBC.

If you can live with the price, you book it. If you wait around for a sale, you may miss the ship.

  3. We will be on the Ruby soon for our 2nd Princess cruise. Our first was on the Island for the Panama Canal. I have few questions that I hope someone can answer.

    1. Does the Ruby have the Pub lunch, specifically the fish and chips for free?

    2. How much is the Sanctuary? How does it work? We usually get a balcony, but have decided to try an inside, so I am looking for a place to watch the water go by.

    3. Is there a lot of vibration and noise from the engines in the aft? We had an aft balcony on a Carnival ship and it was miserable.

    Thanks for your help!

  4. Actually, I'm on the Island Princess to go to the Panama Canal. I was just hoping the mini-golf would be a nice diversion for our cruise critic roll call, but thanks for the warning.

We just disembarked on Wednesday. We also did the Canal. You will have a great time!!! One of the best we have done.

  5. The Island Princess does have Mini-Golf...kinda. The course is in rough shape. The fake grass is bare in many spots, the floor moves when you step on it, and many of the holes do not have a flat starting point. If you are on the Island Princess for the mini-golf, I highly recommend a different ship. The course is worn and no maintenance has happened in years.

  6. Our land tour ended in Anchorage, so we had our hotel room till noon. I wanted to pay for an extra night, because our Flight left at 1:35 am the night of check out. The hotel room would have been $359. Too much for us. We rented a car, $65ish for the day that held all of our luggage out of sight. We then found fun things to do...shopping...tour of the city...a movie...a nice place for dinner, then headed to the airport at 11 pm. It was a nice day.

  7. As far as your suitcase is concerned, don't settle for anything less than what is a fair price for replacement of your luggage. On our last cruise, the handle was broken off of our large suitcase when it was delivered to our stateroom. The handle was in working order when we dropped it off with the porters. We took the suitcase down to guest services, filled out a form, and they said they would get back to us. They did the next day by offering us replacement piece of luggage. The piece they offered us was comical. It was cheaply made, flimsy and a crappy zipper. We turned down since it was not comparable to what they broke. After going back and forth for 2 days, we settled on $150 replacement cost. In the end, we got what was deserved. They will try to low ball you. Don't fall for it.

  8. I like the Wal-Mart and Kohls analogy. IMO Carnival is Wal-Mart and Royal Caribbean is More like Target to me.

There is nothing "wrong" with Carnival. Sometimes you want that. Royal is Target. Everything is a tad bit nicer, service, people on ship, food, and entertainment.

Carnival tends to be cheaper, as does Wal-Mart. You get what you pay for.
