  1. Do not hesitate to book this independent excursion. The meeting place is a short walk form where the ships dock. Everyone is super friendly and well work the price. The highlight is snorkeling with the sea turtles!! When I return to St. Maarten, I will book with Robinson's again. It was a full day and it was a blast!

  2. We did self assist off of Jewel on Saturday. We were off the ship by 7:05, in a cab by 7:15, and at out gate by 8 am. It is possible to take an early flight out of San Juan if there are no hang ups. Too many things can go wrong, but a flight after 12 should be just fine.

  3. There is a store at the Pan Am pier. Not sure if prices. I had 2 bottles of wine in my carry on. No one asked to see them or stopped me.

The CVS is in Old San Juan, not by the Pan Am pier, so that is not an option.

  4. We are at the Sheraton right now. Taxi from airport was $19 flat rate for up to 5 people plus $2 fee plus $1 per bag (4) for a total of $25. We were charged for roller type bags only, not a backpack or tote.

As far as coffee is concerned, there is a coffee place in the hotel near the lobby, a Starbucks up the block, and another coffee shop by the Starbucks.

We are not into Puerto Rican type foods, so we can't help ya there. I do have an iPhone with the "around me" and "trip advisor" apps. Both if them have a near you option. Between the 2 of them, I was able to find many restaurants witching walking distance for us to eat at. They provide a type description "Italian" "American" "coffee shop".

  5. Living AZ, we always fly to our ports. We arrive between 10-11. We have to wait no matter what. I would rather wait at the pier or on the shop rather than at the hotel. It's really your preference. 1 pm is fine. You will not miss anything, except maybe the crowd at WJ.

  6. Thank you for your review of the Callabazza excursion. We are going to be on the Jewel in 2 short weeks and have the same thing planned in Barbados. I cannot explain how excited I am to swim with sea turtles!!! Your pictures are beautiful!

DH and I are also from AZ and would love to join your AZ Cruisers group, however, we are both teachers and can only cruise in the summer or during breaks. Based on your schedule you cruise in the off season for us. Maybe when we retire in 18 years we can join you.

  7. Chops did have the parmesean potatoes as well as the baked potato & sauces & porterhouse steak that have been noted in other posts to be gone from the "new" menu so this is the old menu as far as I can tell. I thought I remembered seeing the surf & turf but it doesn't show on the menu I posted below:

It does look like the old menu. That makes my heart and stomach happy. 😊. Thanks again for everything!!

  8. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

DH and I are doing the same itinerary on Jewel in 4 short weeks. Your review is amazing!!

I have a few questions that hope you can answer...

We are also doing the Eco Tour in Antigua. What was on the buffet for lunch? DH is rather picky. He likes plain food, chicken, beef, pork, without sauces. Was the food plainish? Or should I make sure he eats a big breakfast and bring snacks?

DH and I were on Oasis 3 years ago and absolutely loved Chops. Does chops have the new menu or the old menu? I am specifically looking for the parmesan potatoes.

Thanks again for your amazing review!!

  9. Not trying to start a flame war here, but....

It does not quite seem fair that RC is raising the prices during the sale based on supply and demand and then when the sale is over you would lose your 2nd person half off discount. Price drops after the sale should be calculated with full price of first person and half price of second person at the new rate, just like you booked it. If that total is less then what you booked then you should get a price drop. A cruise would have to drop 30% or more if you base it on two full fare passengers. Or the prices should have stayed the same for the whole month of May.

I am not complaining, I got a great deal, but I do not think I will get any price drops. BOGOHO was already $75 less pp than cheapest ever price in the last couple of years for my room on Oasis.

If it is the cheapest you have seen, then what is the problem? If you do not like the promotion, then do not book.

I am quite pleased with the sale. My 1st person fare went up $1100, but with the promotion, I was able to save over $1000 on my Alaska cruise tour. I was fine with the original price, which is why I booked it in the first place. The BOGOHO only made me happier. If the price never goes lower, who cares? I'm already saving $1000!!!!
