You need to know what time the last Princess bus will leave the airport.  There is usually a cut off time

Our agent said our plane had to arrive before 1PM...keeping fingers and roes crossed that there are no delays

If the plane is on time, you have approx. 2.5 hours to get to the port.  If the plane is on time, that should NOT be a problem.  (I'd be a nervous wreck, and to avoid that, I would fly in the day before, but that is me!)

There will be uniformed people in the luggage claim area with "Princess" signs/clipboards -- generally not with your name, but "Princess."  They will be easy to spot.

    Have a great cruise.

thank you ...if we could fly in earlier, we would have but work obligations do not allow us to fly in a day early.  We are going to hope for no delays...fingers crossed!!

  3. thank you...but we are not going to Vancouver. We are sailing on the Ruby out of Seattle. Sorry if I wasn't clear. We originally were going to Vancouver and sailing on Sunday. Now we are going on Saturday out of Seattle.

  4. thanks....I was hoping there would be people in the luggage area...We know it's a short transfer time and that's why we were advised to take the Princess transfer. Thanks

  5. I did search and couldn't find an answer to my question....so here goes. We bought Princess transfers from the airport to the port in Seattle. Now, my questions.... how do we find out where to go to get the transfer. My TA is on vacation (and I doubt he would know the answer, since he didn't seem to know that Pricess has transfers from the Seattle airport to Vancouver...long story) but I digress. We arrive in Seattle via Southwest at 12:30 and the ship departs at 4PM...I don't want to waste a lot of time running around the airport to find the transfer. As usual, I sincerely thank y'all in advance for your responses.

  6. Hi y'all, we are booked on the Ruby in May and on our reservation sheet it says there will be an onboard savings booklet. Any idea what this is and what kind of 'savings' might be incuded? Also I read someplace on CC that often the speciality restaurants offered 1/2 price on the 1st night of the cruise. Anyone have any information on this. Again thanks

You can have a taxi pick you up at Auke Bay where whale watching is and take you to Mendenhall. There is no reason to go all the way downtown just to turn around and head back the same direction.

thank you...I hadn't tought of that!!

I just reread what I posted. Didn't realize how expensive this bus had gotten. I first took it in 2008 and it was $14 or $16 round trip then. With the price what it is now you would be much better off with a taxi for 4 people.

Yep that's a bit too rich for this trip

You don't mention what time your port times so are you looking to go before the whale watch or after?

Your tour operator may offer a drop off and there are shuttles from downtown that can be reserved with boarding any time all day long.

With more details I can try and offer more suggestions.

Thanks for pointing this out...after I went to look at the port times to reply,  I realized we will not be able to go to Mendenhall before our whale watching tour at 2PM as we don't dock until 11AM...I misread the times as we are in Skagway from7AM to 8:30PM.  So now we will have to go AFTER the whale watching tour.  After reading all the great replies here I think it would be best that we take a cab if the tour company doesn't drop off at Mendenhall.. I have contacted the tour company to see if they drop off at Mendenhall or will we have to go back to the port. If they drop off I guess we would have to make arrangements with a taxi to be icked up. Thanks to all of you for your information and suggestions. I really appreciate it.....

  10. Hi y'all.  We will be in Juneau on May 18th, 2020. We have a whale watcing tour booked at 2PM and want to go to Mendenhall in the morning. What is the best and least expensive way to go? My husband and I are in our mid 70's other couple in late 50's. SOME walking is ok...but prefer not to walk a lng distance. Your suggestions will really be appreciated. Again, thanks

Well, as one Texan to another, that's certainly an option. There is also the option of Seattle Express or Shuttle Express or even taxi. In fact, I'll attach an info file of data on these various modes to this message so you can see the diff. costs, etc. One thing that would seem to me to be a downside of going via train would be having to handle luggage and that would be very dependent on the number of pieces and weight of the luggage.

In any event, I hope that you have a safe and easy trip to/from SeaTac and a great cruise.  See you at the pier!

Thank you so much for all the information. He was thinking about the time factor. Thinking the train would be less time and no chance of getting caught up in the traffic with the  construction work. I will check all these options...again thank you

The pastries in the IC are free as is all the food they have and are open 24x7.  The gelato has a charge and not sure when it is offered.

I have been wearing jeans and a polo like shirt for years on non-formal nights without any problem.  Formal nights all that is required for men is a pair of dockers and a button shirt.  Ties and coats are not required.  This is my normal wear on formal night.

The night of embarkation just about anything is allowed in the MDR including shorts and tshirt as some have not received their checked luggage in their cabin in time to dress for dinner.  My form of dress in the Caribbean where it is hot.  AK can be cool so you might want to bring along some warmer clothing.  The key in AK is to layer clothing so that you can quickly add or subtract clothing as the weather dictates.

Thanks for your reply. This is our second Princess cruise..on the first one we didn't eat in the main dining room as I was still recovering from treatments and tired easily. So we weren't aware of what people wore in the MDR. This time I want to be able to enjoy the dining room.

I am joining the club!! 🤬

If you’re talking about the pastries at the International Cafe, there is no additional charge for them.  You don’t need to purchase coffee in order to get the pastries.  They are pretty yummy...by the way.

There is a charge for the gelato.  But I don’t know if you can use the coffee card to purchase gelato.  We don’t drink enough coffee to warrant purchasing a card. Hopefully, someone else will answer that question for you.

Thanks....yes I think it was the International Cafe..my husband and son always went to get it. And yes the pastries were yummy.

Nice jeans have been accepted on all our Princess cruises lately. Embarcation dinner even has allowed a t-shirt too! (No shorts)

I also have worn a knit shirt with slacks for formal nights (no tie) for the last 2 years. No problems.

As for coffee - I always bring Starbucks VIA instant packs from Costco. I can't speak for the coffee on the Royal class ships -  haven't been on one yet.

    Have a GREAT trip!

Thanks...I have never thought about the Starbucks instant packs...ummmmmmm will check it out.  Your bug is funny!!:classic_biggrin:

I was on Regal Princess recently, and didn't have any problems with the coffee.

So I just don't get why some complain about it. :classic_huh:

The orange juice, however, left little to be desired. It was bloody awful.

Thanks....hate to read that about the oj...we drink peculated coffee, it's old fashioned I know...but we love the flavor of coffee from a percolator. The last time we sailed Princess we didn't care for the coffee except in the dining room, specialty dining and I believe at the coffee bar. We were told Princess uses a coffee syrup in the buffet area and room service instead of ground coffee. WE just know we didn't care for it. But I will bring my coffee press and my own ground coffee. Nothing like sitting on the balcony with a nice cup of coffee.
