  1. I live in Mexico and carry what is called an Inapam card. It is a government discount card offered at age 60 to citizens and residents of Mexico. There are discounts that vary in each state, but range from property taxes, 1/2 fare on long distance and local buses, dining, medicines, flights etc.:D

  2. The reports coming back from my daughters so far are not great. Evidently the hours to get food are very limited, with Dining rooms, and other dining facilities open for short hours. Room service is charged for and it is not inexpensive. More when they return Monday.

  3. :confused:Cozumel is always insane:o

So not true! If people were to leave the immediate port area and actually travel around to truly see the Island, there would be no insanity and crazy crowds. The cruise people will tell you not to go into un-sponsored- stores, or go back more than 2 blocks. That is all BS. It is perfectly safe here.

  4. As a resident of Cozumel I can tell you this is a beautiful place. There is so much to do that one day on a cruise is not enough. This will be a great land and sea combination vacation. Also many are excited that they can take a cruise without flying to the states. My 2 daughters will be on the first cruise tomorrow from Cozumel.

  5. Unless Cozomel is different from the rest of the Mexican resorts I have been in take caution on the sidewalks. I have never seen a sidewalk sloped down to street level for handicaped access like you will find in North America but rather only standard six inch or more curbs.

I live in Cozumel and I use a power scooter on an almost daily basis. Actually most of the side walks in the downtown area DO have slopping walks at each corner, Somtimes I may have to go on the side of the street, but my biggest problem is getting around tourists who walk 4 abreast and do not understand "excuse me" or "con Permisso".

  6. You have to try CasaDenis, located in the main plaza thats the oldest restaurant in town owned still by a local family and serving from Yucatecan specialties to Mexican and Sea Food!!!

Right next to it you will find a free tequila tour and across the Plaza del Sol flea market, so its a great area to spend your day in Cozumel!

As a local I am not suppossed to make reccomendations, or so I have been told..... so I AGREE with the above.

  7. Just so ya'll know...the people on the ship laughing are not the only ones. I live in Cozumel and my nephew works at Frogs. I go there some days just to watch the entertainment which is all the drunk tourists acting like fools. When he works at the one on the pier we get to watch the runners. We also like to laugh at the nasty balloon hats that some wear. Hey..cheap entertainment for us locals. LOL

  8. You can save alot of money and help the local economey in Cozumel by booking direct. I know some worry about getting back to the ship in time, but I assure you all the tour operators here are well aquainted with ship schedules. When booked through the shop the tour operator gets a small portion and the cruise companies get most of it. On some tours the operators are not allowed to fill in with privately booked customers because the cruiselines do not want thier customers to find out how much more they paid. If anyone needs a referal or help in Cozumel, feel free to messege me...lol...no charge

  9. It is so difficult to even find any patterns here, I can't believe how most everyone here does it. I either buy my material...we do have wide choice of that, and take it to a tailor with either a picture or a piece of clothing and he takes it from there. Amazing how cheap the labor is. I have learned to make a few basic tops, skirts and flowing pants by using a sample myself.
