Are we to arbitrarily take your word for it, or do you have substantiation?

Just do a few mock booking and you will see that not only are they charging solos more than 200%, but they charge them a lot more more adding drinks and Wi-Fi and even the cruise care.  It is not a little bit.  It is a whole lot!  You might find a couple where this is not the case, but mostly it is!

  2. The worst result of this Celebrity price gouging, whether it is corrected or not, is that I don’t trust them!  I had a great rate on a 11/24 transatlantic in a solo balcony on the Apex at a very good rate including OBC.  They canceled the cruise and rebooked us on a newly created transatlantic in the same month giving additional OBC.  They canceled that cruise and took back some of the OBC.  Since that time all the solo balconies on the newer ships (Edge, Apex, beyond, Ascent) that I have priced have been more that a dole occ balcony for 1 person.  These solo rooms were clearly created for solos, but it appears that Celebrity had a change of heart after booking began.  Trust is one of the most important factors that any business can garner.  It is fragile and they lost mine!

    Hello:

I don't know if there was any issue that prevented me from taking a taxi to the dock. Taxi drivers look for business and notify each other by radio if they see there are lines. And it is clear that all taxi drivers prefer to go to a place where there are lines than to wander around the streets. Except for a special event, there should be no problem.

However, you always have the option of calling a taxi. They will charge you the corresponding rate PLUS six euros for booking by phone. Of course, once the taxi driver accepts the trip, the taxi is yours (he will go to the port and can only pick you up).
In this thread I have indicated some of the telephone numbers of taxi drivers associations that you can call.

Regarding Uber, it is in Barcelona but with very little presence.
If someone wants that type of transportation I recommend Cabify. It is a company similar to Uber with a greater presence and that operates in several European and American countries. It is enough to install the application on your mobile phone

Thank you so much for your responses.  I, myself will be in Barcelona in 2025.  I was asking this question about safety between these 2 points as my granddaughter will be doing her next semester in Barcelona and has to take night classes.  I was wondering about safety taking public transportation between those 2 points specifically.  Thank you again

For what it is worth..I  Spoke to my Vacation Planner who told me the current ‘deal’ which is 75% off second guest was not carried over to the solo traveller. However IF that deal is taken off the table then the pricing for solo travellers would balance that of double occupancy. She said HO is aware but she has not heard of any changes coming down the pipeline

I don’t buy it.  The newer ships (Edge, Apex, Beyond, Ascent) all have solo balconies that were originally priced to give a little advantage to solos.  Since the onset of those they have elevated the prices so that if you book a solo balcony (smaller cabin), the price is higher than if you book a regular balcony as a solo.  It makes no sense and was the case before this sale.

Last time I checked NCL were charging double for a room unless you bought a solo room, when I purchased my room with NCL the solo rooms were an inside cabin with a 'virtual' window (basically a tv screen). I haven't looked up their recent plans for refit because Celebrity has better solo rooms in my opinion

I have checked several Celebrity where they charge more for a solo than the total of 2 people.  Also, on Celebrity newer ships they charge more for a solo balcony than a regular balcony for 1.  NCL just added new categories of solo cabins.  I just completed an NCL.  The studio cabins seem to get sold out for more $ than a solo inside as people want this.  The only way to get access to the studio lounge is to book a studio or now, as of today, book one of the new category of solo cabins.

I'm the mom of the girl posted about.  It was completely humiliating to my entire family of 6.  They actually out loud asked "Is she adopted?"  She knows she is and she answered to it.  They still made it out like we could not board that ship with her if we didn't have adoption paperwork.  Never in her 17 years have we had to prove that and I've even traveled internationally with her.

But here's the other thing that bothers me...How likely is a sex trafficker going to have a passport AND pay for all this to go on a cruise?  I'd like to know those percentages.

I have read though this thread so far and I agree,”Who traffics a girl and takes her on a cruise?”  Totally crazy thinking!

Is it the organization (or lack thereof) that you are complaining about?

The lack there of!  They dropped about 7 bus loads of people off in Guatemala and I could only describe it as pandemonium.  It was scary and I couldn’t wait to get out of there.  They should have paid us!

  8. I just completed my second NCL cruise on the Bliss. It was 15 days Panama Canal.  It was a very good cruise with the exception of the excursions that I booked through NCL.  Like all cruise lines they use a third party.  I did the Panama Canal Experience and Guatemala. I canceled all other that I had booked.  I think cruiseline excursions are a rip off and these were no exception.  Way too chaotic for me.  This $50. Off per excursion is part of NCL’s marketing and a nice perk I thought.  I woukd not do the excursions or consider that a perk in the future

  9. Celebrity pricing for solos is nuts!  I have seen mor3 than one instance where it is better to book a double cabin for a solo than the solo cabins that they are now offering.   I booked a solo balcony on the Apex for 11/24 2 years out.  It was a good price.  They canceled the cruise and booked me on a new one that same month.  Again it was a solo balcony at a very good rate adding additional OBC.  They then canceled that one and took back most of the OBC.  Since then all prices that I have checked on the newer ships with the solo balconies have been more than booking a regular balcony for one.  Worse than that is what they charge for their AI.  None of it makes any sense as they charge more for the AI upgrade than for the cruise itself.  It is much more cost effective in most cases to book the cruise only and then add what you want.

  10. I am on the Bliss now and saw the show last night.  It was 2 hours and fabulous.  The cast was great and the “Frankie Valle” was as close to sounding like the “real thing “ as you could get.  I can’t rave about it enough.  We will probably go see it again.  It is a “must see” on the Bliss.

Where did you book this?  I don't see it on Celebrity's website.

I booked it with Celebrity.  I hate their websites though it has improved as it was the worst.  I, too, have trouble pulling this up.  Try putting in transatlantic departing Barcelona.  Sometimes 2024 doesn’t come up, but will if you put in those parameters

Does anyone know whether the Shore Excursion credit is doubled for solo travelers who upgrade to Free at Sea Plus? The benefit of that upgrade as far as the Shore Excursions is concerned is that the 2nd person in the cabin also gets a $50 credit. It seems logical to me that a solo cruiser would then get both since paying for the whole cabin and no 2nd guest. But it also seems unreasonable to expect that and it might just be a waste of money. I want more of an internet and beverage package than Free at Sea gives, but upgrading those a la carte is much more expensive than the whole Free at Sea Plus.

I leave in 2 days for a 15 night Panama Canal.  My sister and I each booked a balcony and though it may seem logical to you that they would double the excursion credit, they do not.

  13. I tried to find the answer to my question in NCL faqs to no avail.  Should I book 2 solos for my self and my sister, will NCL pay for one complimentary airfare?  And what about if we live in 2 different cities?  Thank you in advance as I feel sure someone will be able to help me!
