  1. Just returned from Santiago. If you like wine Chilean Wine Lovers is a great way to see Santiago and the countryside, as well as a lot of local color and history. We did two days with the tour group and loved every minute of it. They picked us up from the ship (Valpo) toured the city and caught a couple of wineries and dropped us off at our hotel in Santiago. Wonderful time.

  2. Thanks, Norris. I think this is the third review of yours I have read and have greatly enjoyed all of them. I especially appreciate the way you deal with contrarian responses to your conclusions. Case in point ... Meeting the sheriff in either martini setting to discuss your different points of view.

We head to Buenos Aires on Friday to go around the Cape on the Star Princess, then have a New England cruise booked in 2017 on X Summit. Having been on both cruise lines before I enjoy them both ... For us X wins by a nose, and not a Jimmy Durante nose, but more a Shirley Temple type of nose. Am I showing my age? I guess I could have gone with Wolowitz's nose on the Big Bang vs Beyonce's, but I'll stick with Jimmy and Shirley.

  3. Only been on Princess once so don't know the ropes, but out of courtesy to the servers, I would at least leave a tip for the servers If I were sitting at a table in a lounge, when entertainment was in progress and people waiting for a table. Yes, we have paid for the cruise, but these people work hard and if I can afford a cruise I can certainly leave a buck or two or three or four in way of a tip.

  4. Graphical, great, great, great post. My wife and I really enjoy wine. We have a wine cellar at home and usually have wine five or six times a week. I would prefer the bottle left on our table after the initial pour. If the server does not get to refilling our glass in a timely manner, I want the freedom to do so. West wind, your tip about discussing your preferences with the waiter was something I had not considered. I certainly will the first night as we prefer Traditional dining. Thanks, both of you.

  5. While I understand the pushback, I was wondering what is the rationale for doing this? It can't be "other kids are doing it!" Do you think they had too many people reserving and then cancelling at the last moment? Do they need a firmer ... more reliable count of those going on each excursion? Or is it they just want our money up front?
