  1. My experience is completely different than everyone else. We have always used carnival transfer from mco and never had problems. We fly in the day of and get in abt 5:30am. So yes we have to wait around, but by the time we get off the plane get our bags (no rushing) eat breakfast and walk around, we've used up our time or most of. We usually get on bus abt 9/9:30 give them our bags and relax or sleep on the bus. No hassel of a car seat or returning a car. They drop us right at the front and we are allowed to enter bc we are using carnival transfer, so no boarding time. And we also have fttf. We've done this a few times. Maybe Its the time of year we go, September. But it sounds like my experience is rare.

  2. 8 day sailing

    Valor

    September 30 2016

Deck 9 forward. Very front of ship. Cabin 9198 floor to ceiling window.

    Category 6J oceanview

    4 people $2378

Cant compare other sailing or even this one because all the cabins are sold out as far as I can tell.

Did we get a good deal for this type of room? I know we good get cheaper for inside (which we always did before kids) but we need a room with double sofa (kids are to young for pulldown bed but to big for pack n play)

  3. Is there a trolly near the port that you can catch and will drop you off at/near a beach? We are going in september with our 6yr old and 16month old and not bringing a carseat. This will be our 3rd time to san juan and have done both forts and walked around but want to try the beaches there.

  4. Wow. 250 for three people. Is that a going rate?

Looking for a driver vs tour but a tour is taking us places I'm not really interested in

    .

Yes. Its for a private taxi that will take you where u want to go all day and wait for you. Same for 1 person of 5 people. I just emailed them bc we r going back in September and will have our 16m old at the time and wanted a carseat for us to go to 1 beach for a few hrs and then back to port. Still $250 even though we were only going to a beach for a few hours. Its bc they are basically dedicating a day to you. So needless to say we wont be doing that this time around.

This driver was good and a previous time we went and got a regular taxi driver at the port and they were good also

  5. Been on 3 cruises with my 3yo son (when he was 6m, 18m and 27m). Going again in March with him and his new sister (8m).

Deal with not having a child seat when travelling in foreign ports. If you can't, just don't take them around on ports calls. Stay on the boat. Much more relaxed, though many kid programs shut down too.

Remember that it's vacation with kids. Keep expectations in line. So don't forget the earplugs.

What ports did you travel to with your son that you did not use a carseat? We go in september (son will be 17m at the time) and are afraid taxis won't take us without one (if we decide to take taxis and not walk)

  6. Thanks. I read that somewhere also. But tgen i also read deck 9 of valor didnt have laundry. So I was confused. We are staying on this deck, front of the ship in a scenic ocean view so doing laundry would be easy. Trying not to overpack since there is now 4 of us, one which will be a toddler. On the deck plan it shows (according to the rooms it listed) the laundry would be on the otherside if the elevators. Would that make sense?

  7. For question #5 early or late dinner, I pwrsinally think it has to do with where you live and where your traveling to bc of time change. We live in CA but always do cruises out of Florida which is 3 hrs ahead. So if we do the early dining at 6:00 thats like is eating at 3pm our time, so the late dining at 8:30 works better for us and even thats early bc we dont eat dinner at home till 7pm. So we usually have a healthy snack before bed. We have done this with our daughter who cruised at ages 1, 3 and 4. Our next cruise she will be 6 and we will have our son who will be 17 months.

Also you can always request to sit by yourselves at 4 top as to not disturb others at the table and they serve you at a quicker pace instead if waiting for others to finish at a big table. We ask when we book to be put at our own table and then when we get there if we are not, we just ask again. Have never had any problems.

  8. Booked May 8th out of Port Canaveral. We have never stayed in a room like this. I've saw pics of a similar cabin but these had 2 floor to ceiling windows. Ours is a G7 category and the 2 window is a G8. If anyone has stayed in this room would love to hear about it and see pics if possible...Counting the days!!![emoji267][emoji267][emoji267][emoji267]

How was the room? We booked the exact room for our september cruise. It will be our 6yr old and 17month old at time of sailing. Hoping it will be enough room and the little one will enjoy looking out the windowm.

  9. We were there in September 2014 and arranged for a private driver about a month a head of time. I contact st.maartens tourism and they gave me a name. He was awsome. Picked us up outside of the port. Provided snacks and drinks. Called me before hand to confirm what we wanted to do and sent pics od himself and car so we would know. He also communicated through email with us. He took us to all our stops and waited very patiently for us to be ready. Never felt rushed at all. It was myself, husband and 4 yr old. It cost us $250 for the day. We did butterfly farm, mullet bay (did orient bay last time), maho beach to see the planes, st maartens zoo. (this was such a cute zoo- definetly recommend if u have time. Just dont expect zoos like we have here. We were gone abt 6 hrs

  10. Hi all, travelling from Toronto to Florida and doing a 10 night land trip - Orlando, Vero Beach and Ft Lauderdale (we will have a rental car for this portion of the trip) and then taking transportation (TBD) from parents condo in Ft Lauderdale (Commercial and US1) to Port of Miami and then after disembarking, transportation (TBD) to MIA airport for flight back home.

We are trying to figure out strategy for car seats and we our clueless re the cruise portion - can we have them stored on the ship in luggage storage? Any other ideas?

Should we rent the car seats in Orlando and then drop them off with the car rental at Ft Lauderdale airport - if we do this then any ideas on transportation arrangements (kid friendly for example) from Ft Lauderdale to Port of Miami that have booster seats (kids will be 8 and 4)?

We are concerned about safety issues and want to make sure we make safe choices for our family where possible

Any ideas would be most appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Jason & Susan

I just saw this in parents magazine. Dont know if it will help your situation. But it is a great idea for a cheap portable booster for traveling. http://www.mifold.com

  11. TSA approved locks have a separate key slot that only TSA has keys for - whether it is a combination lock or a key lock. There is a code next to the TSA slot indicating which TSA key will open it. The point is that with this type of lock: TSA can open your luggage, as needed, check for contraband and relock your luggage without cutting off your luggage locks.

    :)

If they would only lock the luggage back up or at least put the locks back in the suitcase unharmed, that would be great. We had tsa approved locks on our luggage and the cut them off and returned them to me with a note. When i got home i contacted the airline asking for replacements since the were clearly maked tsa and were still cut off... And expensive. I sent multiple pictures of the lock, luggage tags, etc and was basically told to bad. So we dont lock our luggage anymore. Never thought of zip ties since they r cheap and can be easily replaced at any point during trip. Just need to make sure to carry nail cutters in case I need to get in them at airport, car etc.
