Just got my notification. We will be in 16704

Hey!!! So few things happened this trip. Let me start with great sterip bay water was to ruff so we went straight to Nassau . They credited the excursions eimmediatly was great ! I'd say about 11ish am on Saturday captain Mike announced medical emergency and they had to get back to NY port in a hurry to the sick passenger medical assistance . Haven self walk out meaning taking your own luggage started 7:30am and checked luggage was suppose to start at 8:30 but they started us at 8ish and I was in my car by 8:30, I grabbed a porter and we bypassed the customs lines the whole process was easier then going to a corner store .
So it looks like I just won a bid for a H5 Haven suite so I can start asking questions. Regarding checked luggage in the Haven, do you still put your luggage out the night before?
Also did you notice you received the upgrade before NCL told you? If so, how long did it take NCL to tell you and update your edocs/luggage tags? Thanks!

Nothing has been posted to my credit card....yet. So excited!
-
All of my bids have expired except one! The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony (H5) shows as processing. I believe this means my offer is accepted. My offer was $850/pp. How long until I get the email from NCL telling me what room I have?
-
I think it is best offer based on original cost of your booking.
-
I had an issue too, but it seems to be working again. I thought they were upgrading me early :-D
-
Would you mind saying how much your bid was? I bid 1200 per person on that room along with the $3200 i paid initially.....do you go over this amount?
You're on the same cruise as my wife's parents. They also placed bids for the Haven but the Haven shows sold out for that cruise. Has it always been like that or only now because they are handing out the upgrades?

Wow! That is really nice. I'm hoping the flight kit goes on sale at some point. We live on top of a hill so I'm sure I could get some cool shots.
-
I hope you come back and post your video. I would love to see it!! :)
We are going on our next cruise in July and I will be bringing my same GoPro gear again but with one new piece in tow.
I recently bought the new GoPro Karma drone and have been doing practice flights to get comfortable with it.
I am beyond excited to see what kind of aerial footage I will be able to get while on vacation. Our cruise ship will stay docked in Bermuda for a few days and I am hoping to have lots of opportunities to fly the drone from different spots around the island.
Make sure you check Bermuda laws on drones. Some countries are pretty strict about them.

I was right (darnit).....just got my mini-suite upgrade email.....at least now I can stop this insanity.
Sorry, I was really hoping you were wrong.

I'm not sure any of that actually means anything. Check your credit card to see if anything has been charged.

We're leaving in two weeks on the Breakaway to Bermuda with our 9 month old. I'll let you know how it goes.
-
When you used the GoPro Jaws setup, did you have the GoPro in the Grip? They definitely didn't make it easy to quickly switch setups. Having the remove the compartment door for the hookups is definitely a design flaw.
-
They have the best pretzel rolls!
-
Yes but definitely worth it if you want to get smooth moving shots!
Here's a link to another video that I put together for practice when I first got the Karma Grip.
So I ended up with a GoPro Hero 5 and the Karma Grip. I managed to get 20% off of each! A huge savings for me. The Grip is supposed to arrive on Wednesday. I did a 4k video time lapse last night and a photo time lapse as a test. Even the 4k time lapse didn't take up as much space as I expected. I does however decrease you battery life quite a bit. I was only able to get about 2 hours which is probably longer than what I would do on the cruise anyways.

I ordered the inflatable duck tub on Amazon for use on the Breakaway. We'll see how it goes.

My kid loved the nursery, and still loves the kids clubs. I do it for him, not for me. Sometimes people don't think about that.
That's fine. Most comments I read don't come across that way. More like you won't enjoy yourselves with your children so dump them off.
-
Us too! Exciting but nerve wracking at the same time. Just want to be sure we do everything right/ the easiest way possible.
...and leave the kid at home?! Not an option, nor would we want to. We tried for yrs and *almost* went thru IVF (didn't end up needing it), this little girl is the light of our life and deserves the world ;)

We went through IVF for ours. This is a family vacation. Not a drop our kid off at the nursery so we can enjoy ourselves alone vacation.

We purchased an umbrella stroller that reclines based off of advice on CC and elsewhere. I've also received extremely unhelpful advice from people who think no one should ever travel with kids. Apparently if you have a baby you should never leave the house.
As much as we're planning around her we aren't going to let having a child hinder us from doing things either. If I have to wear her to do the caves that's what I will do. So far she is very easy going and happy most of the time. I think day care helps with her being able to sleep in unfamiliar places. She has slept in multiple pack n plays/cribs in different homes and has had no issues. Hopefully that continues.

We're bringing a umbrella stroller and a baby carrier. It will depend on the situation. The caves will require wearing her, but the plan is to use the stroller the most.

We're going to Bermuda in 31 days with a 9 month old. As far as I know you get either a pack n play or a crib. We booked a mini-suite but I am bidding on a Haven suite. The extra space would be really nice. I'm still working out the details of what we're going to do but we plan on doing the caves, a day pass at a resort, and renting a boat for a few hours.

The "sped up" shots are time lapses. The camera has a built in setting for this. The speed can be adjusted in post if you want it faster or slower and same goes for reverse.
How much space does a hour long time lapse take up?

Thank you for watching and the kind words! :)
In the past I would bring my monopod/tripod, Canon DSLR with various lens and deal with changing the settings WB, ISO, aperture, ND filters, making sure all my shots were in focus, etc. which all became tedious to me. I felt like I was spending to much time focusing on the camera set up and not enjoying my vacation as much as I could be. My goal was to continue making a quality vacation video but in a way that would allow me to simplify things so I could enjoy my vacation more.
I really enjoyed using the Gopro Hero 5 for our cruise and the ease of just being able to toss it and some of the mounts into my beach bag on the go was great too! There is a small learning curve to using it but nothing too difficult. Youtube has tons of tutorials for anything and everything related to this camera. That's how I learned how to do the time lapses. I basically set the camera to my desired settings, mounted it to a railing with the GoPro Jaws mount and just let it role on it's own for about an 45 minutes to an hour each time. I would highly recommend getting the Jaws clamp with your camera. Its so versatile and you can get super creative mounting it to anything like tables, chairs, poles, signs, railings, etc.
The walking shots were stabilized with the GoPro Karma.
For my editing software, I used Final Cut Pro X but your MacBook should have iMovie already built in. I used iMovie for many years before upgrading to FCPX.
Good Luck with your new Hero 5, I would love to see how your video turns out!! :)
Looking to get a Hero 5 before my cruise in April....damn that Karma Grip is way more expensive than I expected

I'm sure her passport will be fine. But bring the birth certificate anyway. :)
Thanks...I was afraid that would be the answer.

Looks like it! And since we'll be with our 9 month old we won't have to go up and down stairs to get to it.
