  1. Geez! I'm going to be on the Noordam for 25 days in 2014, and con't believe there's no self service laundry facilities on the ship.I hate the idea of trusting my clothes to the ship's laundry.

As it is, I am Elite on Princess, can get my laundry done free, and I choose to launder everything myself in the self service laundry so I get to choose the detergent, water temp and dryer temp.

Guess I am going to be forced to pack a lot more than I planned to!!

We were in the same position, Elite on Princess so free laundry, but have found the laundry on HAL (Noordam & Westerdam) to exceed the quality of that on the Princess ships. Nothing has been ruined (even sent some unmentionables), comes back pressed or nicely folded and wrapped in tissue paper. We've actually packed less do to the quality of the service.

  2. Ok I'm doing the Westerdam in Oct and most def. will have laundry.

But what concerns me is the shringage of my garments from the laundry. I will have all cotton items and do not want to receive them back 2 sizes too small!!!

Please give me some input on this and problems, if any, you have had.

    Thanks.

We were on the Westy for 14 days this spring and used the unlimited laundry. Well worth the cost! A lot of our garmets were all cotton - no shrinkage what so ever. Do not bother getting the unlimited ironing that the CSR might try to talk you into as all our clothes came back pressed and ready to wear. I'd suggest you do the pre-paid. The laundry paper work does have prices on it but all you have to do is mark it that you already have the unlimited laundry and you should not encounter the problem wallyboag did. BTW, our Laundry Bag was the same as the one our traveling mates had and they did not have the unlimited laundry.

  3. Help!

I'm held captive on the Sapphire Princess, with a load of dirty clothes and no way to wash them.

    ................................

Does anybody know if the Alaska inside passage itinerary allows this grey-water-spewing ship (Golden) to run it's self-serve laundry room?

The OP really didn't want to start an environmental discussion here but rather was asking a simple question. Since no Princess staff ON the Sapphire can/will answer it can anyone here on CC provide her with a YES or NO as all they really want are some clean clothes.

I'd also be interested in that answer for future reference.

  4. Is there a limo/car service one can reserve in advance for pick-up at Port Everglades at a specified time? We will be leaving our car at the Hampton Inn in Plantation and would like to arrange transportation back to the hotel at an exact time. We've stayed at this Hampton several times (love the hotel) when cruising and although they will pick us up free the last time (this April) we had to wait 2 hours for the van to arrive. Since we have a 10 hour car ride ahead of us getting that late of a start is really difficult. There will be at least 4 of us, perhaps more.

Thanks in advance - I tried the search function but we all know how well that works.

  5. I'm intrigued - Why are they only distributed in the US from October to March? Are they seen as a winter food? They are eaten all year here. In fact they are a supermarket special at present here for $2 per packet in 35c degree heat!

Marion, we get cheap cruises and you get cheap cookies! :D;) Barb

Tim Tams were introduced to the U.S.A. through Pepperidge Farm as a promotional item from November 2008 to March 2009.[4] They were sold through Target stores only; varieties offered were Original (sold as Chocolate Crème) and Caramel. Pepperidge Farm re-released these two varieties with Classic Dark 19th October 2009. This time the Original and Caramel varieties are available in supermarkets other than Target. They will be available in the U.S.A. until March 2010 and at the same time every year.

    USA

Made in Australia but branded as Pepperidge Farms:

    Chocolate Crème (i.e. Original)

    Caramel

Dark Chocolate (sold only at Target)

Looks like the next thing on everybody's shopping list will be freezers to store Tim Tams between March and November. ;);)

Pia perhaps your Target is just slow in getting their shelves stocked - keep checking.

  7. Back from Target. Yes! Tim Tams are there. I bought one each of Chocolate and Caramel and promptly put them in the freezer. I will have one tomorrow depending on what the scale says in the morning. Will Power.....thy name is Pia.

The lady is addicted! No car problems this time I hope. Aren't you sooooo happy Eileen posted her original question. ;):D;)

  8. Those are "Pillsbury Refrigerated Cookie Dough" pre-packaged cookie mix in the long plastic container. You slice it and bake it. No self-respecting chocolate chip cookie afficiando like myself would ever use this. We make them from scratch, and add chopped pecans. Mine are the best! Never flat and crusty!!

Hey wait a minute MINE are! :D;):D Made with chopped walnuts.

Eileen, Marion you both are just going to have to come visit me. If grocery stores get you excited ;) I'll take you to lots of them. Trust me though you need to find a real bakery to buy good bread. There is no such thing in our grocery stores.

  9. There was an early morning trivia; we lost by one.

Two times in a row! Sounds like you all need to report to the sick bay right now to get meds to fix that situation! ;):D;) You certainly can not go home without a case full of luggage tags.

In all seriousness we all are hoping you feel better fast.

    Barb

  10. Pia feel better NOW!

Don't worry about that squirrel, you'll see him again tomorrow. Just think of him like the hard rolls you get at the continental breakfasts in Europe. If you don't eat it at breakfast it will show up again the next time you have breakfast regardless of what city you are in. Same with that "usual one squirrel", he'll reappear. :D

  11. I don't know about soothing the soul Barb, but they're sure to have an effect on my hips. ;)

Tell me about it! I haven't finished my package yet and I can already see the toll they are taking. Of course I could just dispose of them and probably will - right down into my stomach! :D
