I looked at various ships upcoming sailings and saw room service fees ranging from $0 to $12 + 20% gratuity.  Don't trust the app. The $12+ was for a sailing from Ft. Lauderdale.

Good advice.  The app is an unreliable source.

Wanna know how much gratuity we pay? 0%!  We refuse to pay those prices and we do not use the mindset of “it’s vacation” to justify it.  There are so many better things that we can spend that money on while on vacation.  Heck, in some cases, that would pay for another short vaca. 😁

I feel sorry for the employees who work so hard for you to have a good vacation but Are ignored by you😢

Long time cruiser, but first time on Celebrity. Tomorrow is my 45-day check-in time to secure my boarding time. Just wondering if check-in begins at 12 a.m. Eastern time or some other time zone. Also, it appears check-in must be done on the app only, but I'm not sure if that is the case? Any other idiosyncrasies tips on the Celebrity check-in process are appreciated.

That is not the case, and you can do it on the website if you wish. One other tip, if you are having trouble putting in your photograph to skip that step and move on through the process because they will take your picture for you in the traveler

My last cruise (before pre-paid) our entire table was in agreement that our 2 servers in the MDR fell way way below acceptable service and no where near 20% gratuity level.  We chose to tip 5% and gave the envelope to the maitre d and explained why.  I prepaid gratuities for my upcoming cruise but am waiting to see how much customer service is in place for the voyage.

20% of what? There is no price given for meals served in the dining room?

    I got several hits

Onboard Ascent. Just learned Luminae open for lunch only on sea days!!!   Another change. Used to be open Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.   We booked Retreat (due to a serious allergy) because it was open for all 3 meals.
They are open  on embarkation day for lunch.

Perhaps you have confused Celebrity with some other line? The suite restaurant, Luminae, is always closed on port days.

You say it's not enforced??? So going into the MDR or a restaurant like Tuscan Grille they will still admit you with no questions asked??? tell me more WestLakeGirl. Have you done that before and succeeded ?

No .i didn't say that it isn't enforced.  I said that it isn’t an evening chic night.

We would never wear shorts in the dining room or any specialty, no matter what the night’s dress code is.

I just read a review that stated their "infinite veranda" was locked shut many days due to weather/winds. We are scheduled to be on the transatlantic cruise and am worried this might happen to us. My claustrophobia is already starting to kick in. Can someone please share their experiences - does this happen very often? TIA.

If you feel the need to have fresh air available at all times, don’t book the IV rooms.  You will likely always feel stressed, worried that the window might get locked at any time.

  9. OBC is the same as if you were on a ROYAL ship at the time, With the same deposit requirements and restrictions.  So what ever Royal is requiring, that’s what you will do. The onboard booking people are not as familiar with the Royal ships so know what ship you want ahead of time, what kind of state room, etc. because they cannot give you much advice.

My family of 4 (me, husband, 2 teen girls) are looking to go on a Celebrity cruise. We were surprised to see that some of the rooms have pull out trundle sofa beds, rather than bunkbeds. This looks like a terrible set up to us. We feel like this trundle bed set up would take up a lot of space in the room, making it difficult to walk around and making the room feel much more crowded.

From what I read, the steward is supposed to make up the two beds each morning and tuck them away, but we are not really fond of this option. I know some people are never in their room, but our family enjoys spending time in the room. On our last cruise, we spent about half of our day in our room with the balcony door open enjoying the sites and sounds. Because of this, we liked the fact that the kids beds were always opened. They would each get on their beds and just chill out or read or take a nap.

We are looking at doing a 2 to 3 week cruise, so we want to make sure the cabin is extra comfortable. I feel like the pullout sofa bed would be more of a frustration and make the trip less enjoyable.

Has anyone here had four people in one of these rooms with the pullout sofa bed?

    What was your experience?

    What are your thoughts?

From what I explained about what our family likes, would you recommend one of these rooms or recommend choosing a ship with traditional bunkbeds?

    What ship(s) are you considering?
