Our driver took us to Papito's and at the entrance of the park, one of the beach club staff was waiting for us and paid the entrance fee. We did a stop at the lighthouse and the crocodile place and the Mayan Ruins (right next to the croc tower). From there it was only a 2 minute ride to Papitos. The beach was awesome, we've never been to such a nice and remote beach club on any of our cruises as most of the times you get to see the same beach clubs, no matter where. Our taxi driver then waited for us the entire day to take us back at no extra cost. The staff told us that if the driver does not want to wait, they would call a taxi for the same cost...so really you only spend for the ride, not for the driver waiting. It was one of the best beach days ever!

Yes, this is one of near 1000 different type of errors people are experiencing with the RCI planning website. The website is horrible. If you need something done, you may have to call directly.
We actually called them and did not get anything done...we were told to refresh the page and try again...probably was not a very qualified agent as it was after US office hours....

Royal will refund taxes, excursions, beverage packages, specialty dining, prepaid gratuities. Basically, all but the cruise fare and insurance.
Wow, sounds like you know, thanks!

That sounds like a pretty expensive option to us...not sure if the food and experience is actually worth it, I'd rather spend $40 on a fresh whole lobster in one of the ports lol

We had a great time on the Costa Maya Chacchoben Mayan Ruins and Bacalar Kayak Excursion! The guide were extremely helpful and the tour very well organized. We were amazed by the ruins and actually got to climb some of them! Bacalar lagoon was a nice treat. Great waters and thanks to the slow current we did not need to paddle all that much. We definitely recommend this off the beaten path adventure!

The beach right in Progreso and close to the pier is not very nice, not the typical Caribbean beach. We had to drive around 20 minutes to get to a nice resort so maybe that is why there are not many ruins and AI tours. The cruise ship sponsored beach club (I think it was called Corona beach?) would not be our choice at all, it is right by the pier and the water looked murky.

I agree, Sanchos has a nice swim up bar on the AI side of the beach. Our barman also talked about a No Name Bar, we saw pictures and it looks nice as well with swim up bar, pool, etc. But I guess it is more a crew-type of place?

We've been to San Pedro as part of a dive/snorkel excursion and it was wonderful. We took the small plane to the island and flew by Caye Caulker, which seemed very similar. We loved the sandy Caribbean beaches and tiki bars, seafood restaurants and fishing boats. We saw some of the nicest beaches ever:)

Taxis aren't that cheap in cozumel but the last 2 times, our driver was actually waiting at the beach club for us at no extra cost. Just make sure you agree on the price before you head out.
