Yes. Actually picture was taken a week ago. The fire has now coverer the entire Mountain. They have over 1100 fire fighters working on it. Very hard if not impossible to do anything because of the steep terrain. As of today 45% contained and covering over 100,000 acres.

We are booked on the Voyager - Lisbon to Cape Town, Nov. 14. The web site now shows all categories " wait list". In" Booked Cruises" it still appears. On a previous canceled cruise the listing in booked cruises, the cruise disappeared soon after the cruise was waitlisted. I am very sure this cruise will not go but just hoping.

Wendy,
Here in Durango CO, the restaurants are allowed to open for dining in, provided that they set up for 6' distancing. One must wear a mask when not seated. Not all restaurants are open, as some are so small they cannot operate with the distancing, but some are, at least. And many restaurants also have outdoor seating, which is nice this time of year. Further, the city is considering allowing restaurant seating on sidewalks and into the street on Main Avenue, where most are located. Problem is, this will cut down on street parking spaces which, like in all mountain towns, is a bit scarce already. And since most people in our market area live outside city limits and no bus transport and no "park and ride" lots exist and cabs and Uber are scarce, I don't know how that will work out. They are also working to get our scenic steam train going again at 50% passenger capacity in the cars, perhaps by the end of June. Retail stores for things like clothing are open if they have a door to the outside. So stores in malls are still closed, except for those that have such a door. The city and county are working on getting that rule lifted by the end of this month. Masks are required in all outdoor areas in the city where 6' distancing cannot be maintained, and in all retail stores. As we live about 3 miles out of the city in the mountains, we are free to go about with no masks, which is probably medically OK, as there is no density here.
The rules and regulations here are a bit of "mish-mash" as they are everywhere, because governments and health authorities were just not prepared for this -- nor could they have been. And of course (as all here might suspect) the idea of us going through airports and getting on a commercial flight is simply out of the question at this time. Only Southwest is promising to reduce the number of passengers on their planes and it does not serve us. So we will be in SW CO for the duration..
Hi ,thank you for the information. Christina and I are planning a driving trip up your way and have reservations on the train. Will be staying at the Double-Tree, wanted the Antlers B&B but they are closed.

I want to thank all of you for your in put. Just what I was looking for. We are thinking that we should cancel for 100% and rebook when things play out.

We are booked on the Voyager Lisbon to Cape Town . From reading South Africa will NOT be accepting us.
So, what to do ? We would love to have a getaway like all of you. Final payment is due on our cruise on June 17. I am not interested in putting more money into a cruise that will not go. There in our eyes 2 cruises in Nov.
1- Barcelona to Miami on the Splendor
2- R/T Miami to Manaus
The real question is -- which one do you guys think will really go?
We are cruising R/T Bellingham in Sept. on a charter . I will be the Capt. and Christina will be the cruise director . Hi TC2

Thank you for starting this - it should be fun.
My bet is July 8th (2020) - Seward to Vancouver
Jackie I sure hope your right since we are booked on the July 15 cruise butt on our booked cruises page that listing has been removed. I think we should give you a second chance/choice .
-
Not sure what this means but I think I do ! Just looked at " Booked Cruises " and our July 15 Alaska cruise is NOT showing. I tried to reenter but just says " cannot find ". Have not been informed of the cancelation from Regent. The system must know something . Guess our Nov. cruise Lisbon/Cape Town will be our next chance to cruise Regent.
-
I just did a DUMB thing ! I went to the Regent site and booked our dinning reservations for our Alaska cruise on July 15 knowing full well that we will NOT be going ! Think I need help !!

We are in our mid 70s and good health. Our concern was that we could get " Trapped " on board in our cabin for 2++ more weeks. ! We were booked on the April 1st cruise but sadly have now canceled.

They told me yesterday that he would have to fill out every year. I will check again with them.
Captjohn I believe you guys are on our cruise to Africa on Dec 8. I will check into into the Geo insurance.
Yes, we will on that cruise with you. . Are you looking at the shore excursions ? We looked at them yesterday and picked them out. Did you see the " Overland " tour ? We can't do it because we depart the ship on the 7th.
Let us know what your thoughts on GeoBlue. In addiction to Geo we have the Chase Sapphire Reserve CC with it's benefits.

I feel the pain . When I went to my Primary Care Physician to sign the questionnaire from MedJet he would not sign because I was being watched for a very minor issue that would not prevent me from travel. TMI, anyway we singed up for GeoGlue. It's not the same but the best we could do.

Going our layover is 8 hours also. Where are you guys flying from?
We arrive real early into Cape Town. We have a pre cruise and a post cruise with Regent . How about you all.
We are departing on Dec. 7 . our flight leaves at 6: 45p. We have been to Cap TownTown a couple of times before so find no need to stick around.

The flights I found and thank you again Travelcat2 for the link are from Austin ,Texas using British through London and the same for the return. the layovers are somewhat longer than I like but only one stop and like Travelcat2 stated not rushing trying to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 and plenty of time to walk around in Heathrow which we have always been in a rush and to relax and take a shower to freshen up or what ever. Hope Regent accepts these deviations. These are actually better flight than if we fly from Houston or Dallas. British air has a Direct flight to London and we have flown on it many times and it is fine not great.
We are on this same cruise- YES and looking forward to it.
Don't know what how long your layover is but we have about 8hr -Oh-ouch !
Anyway we plan to grab a room by the hour at Term 3 to freshen up before our next flight to PHX. See link.

I've been using Matrix - ITA for a couple of years to find flights (you cannot book on that site). Here is a link http://matrix.itasoftware.com/#search:research=JFKCPT
Once the flights and airlines are displayed, you can click on duration so that the shortest flights will appear first. be sure to check the box that you only want a maximum of 1 stop (of, if non-stops are available, click on non-stop). It is an easy website to use.
This should make it easier to check airports, airlines, etc. BTW, the first time we went to Cape Town we heard that South African Airways is excellent. We have no experience with them as they do not fly out of our two closest airports.
As TC2 said this is what I use also but just to add if you want to see the fair in USD then at the bottom of the page you will see "sales city " you can enter any us airport ie; PHX.
I also find it helpful to use. ,https://www.flightsfrom.com/ it will show all the nonstop flights from any airport.

Be interested to see your responses since we are booked also. There is an active Roll Call, so you could take a look at it.

Pat
First, have a great cruise Jackie. We will be on the Explorer Dec. 17th.
Pat, could you comment on your experience on TAP. It is an option for us on a cruise next year from Lisbon. Thanks

All the food we have had on Regent is great but the item I look forward to is the Tiramisu in La Veranda. I guess because I never get it otherwise 😀
