Yeah, they have posted it on their site. I cannot imagine too many doctors would sign it. How is it being received in your office?

So far only one patient has brought one in and the provider isn't here so it won't even be looked at until Monday. This week has been exhausting. The phones rang non stop so much yesterday that I wanted to take a sledgehammer to them! Every single patient thinks they have it. Every patient wants tested. It just doesn't work that way. Monday they are opening up a drive up testing location across the street but even those patients have to meet CDC criteria in order to get tested.

  2. Forgive me if this has already been posted but I work in a doctors office (don't even get me started on the insanity I've gone through this week now that we have cases in my county). A patient brought in a form that Royal Caribbean apparently sent out to passengers in a certain age bracket that they are requiring a physician to sign before allowing passengers to board.

This really is something.....hard to believe they can do this??

What are they saying on board? Do you get some sort of reimbursement for missed ports?

We missed ports years ago due to weather and they gave everyone $50 onboard credit and refunded excursion fees that were booked directly through the cruise line.

AFAIK they are in multiple locations, I want to say Texas and NE?

There's a poster here who frequently knows exactly which facility is hosting how many patients, not going to call them out by screenname as I believe they're on the 'inside' / on the healthcare side and don't want to put them in a position.

You are correct. There were plans to move them from Travis AFB but a judge blocked it. I haven't heard an update. And I also read that some were in Omaha?

Well, that it's the flu is certainly encouraging, in that it means it's nothing out of the ordinary. Every ship probably had one person with the flu.

The worry is, that other ports will now feel local pressure to deny them entry too. "Wait, they were too dangerous to be allowed to dock in Jamaica! Why should we take a risk if it was too dangerous to do there?"

That's such a shame for all of the other passengers.

There is a small machine that can give results of flu A & B in 5 minutes - but whether a clinic would have it is another thing.  (I had to look it up, but as I work in Microbiology area of a hospital, I can at least recognize what it is talking about).  EDIT  What I haven't taken time to figure out is whether there are similarities between A and COVID 19 that would make the test result still questionable.  If on a molecular level there are similarities, then the result could be questioned.

Ours are simple kit tests. No machine required. These are the ones we use. Results can be read in 10 minutes. https://www.4mdmedical.com/catalog/product/view/id/279452/?CAWELAID=120141310000056386&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplpSEKD1006&sc_intid=SEKD1006&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3oTM-bbt5wIVhJ6zCh2hZwxeEAQYAiABEgL2RvD_BwE

Just like with RCCL, the ship choice can make a big difference. What NCL ship are you considering?

I haven't even looked at their ships. lol! I've just been reading trip reports on here. Any suggestions? Things we've liked about other cruises: The shows, The pun on the Navigator where we sang along with the entertainer every night, Pools, games (not gambling though...we all stink at gambling).

I have been on Carnival 16 times, Princess several times and RC 3 times.  I have been on two NCL cruises and I loved them both.  I was suppose to go on the NCL Bliss in October but my friend had to cancel.  I loved all my cruises.  I am not a foodie so I generally can find something I like to eat.  I like the free at sea on NCL.  We usually book inside cabins so we both get the drink package.  Even after paying the gratuity on the drink package we definitely get our monies worth.  I never thought I would try other lines, but I am glad I did.  Give it a try and then if you find it's not for you go back to RC.

What is the Free at Sea? I'm on their site right now but I don't see that mentioned. Nevermind! Found it!

  9. My family has been on 3 Carnival cruises and 1 RC. RC is by far our choice. We were on one of the older RC ships too (the Navigator) but we thought the food, service and amenities were better. Just our personal opinions.

We are looking into booking a girls trip for about 5 of us in the family (Me, mom, my sister and two aunts). The ages range from 41 (me) to 70 (my mom). We would really like to give NCL a try but are kind of nervous since we enjoyed RC so much.

So tell me why you think we would enjoy a cruise with NCL. :-)  I'd also like to hear the differences of a NCL cruise vs Carnival or RC. Thanks!

  10. I'm nervous about this, too. We're leaving Sunday on the Breeze. I'm not too concerned about missing a port but it's my son's first cruise since he was 2 and he gets a bit of motion sickness in cars. This was the, hey-let's-see-if-he-can-handle-a-cruise, cruise. Of course this storm is brewing. Ugh.

What ports are you going to? We are supposed to go to Cozumel and Costa Maya. Right in the storms possible path. LOL

We were in a BAD storm in January a few years ago. The ship was rocking so bad. All during dinner one night, there was nothing but the sound of plates crashing in the kitchen, the waiters were dropping plates, our glasses and salt and pepper shakers shook on the table, etc. It was actually kind of fun. lol!

Start taking anti-nausea meds a couple days ahead of time. That's what I always do and I was fine.

  12. I was checking the National Hurricane Center page and the one tropical system has a high chance of developing into something within the next 5 days and will be right in our path during that time. How strong does the storm have to be in order for a ship to be rerouted to somewhere else? We went on a 4 day years ago and hit a bad storm. They didn't reroute us though. They just stayed out at sea. We were unable to dock in Freeport.

  13. Hub app is $5 per device for the entire cruise. So for us, it is $5 vs $35 and just not worth the extra $30. I admit, I don't use facebook though.

I'm sorry, I misread the price. I didn't realize it was $5 for the entire cruise.
