  1. Has anyone heard if there is discussion about choosing another port due to the unrest in Labadee? It sounds as though the violence is escalating. We aren't due to cruise until March but I'm afraid that things won't be resolved by then going by the headlines I've been reading today.

  2. Play it safe and take over the counter Dramimine. I started taking it the day before our cruise. While on the cruise I decided one day that I didn't need it. By dinner, I was hanging my head over a trash can. I will never risk that again no matter how smooth the seas are.

  3. We are a group of 8. My friend called to have her dining changed to early dining like the rest of us and they told her that it was full. Now we can't link our reservations so we can all sit together. How long of a wait should we expect each evening if we change to My Time dining?

  4. I'm a mocha, latte, etc junkie so I'm thinking this is a package that would be worth the money. On Carnival I didn't have any kind of drink package and spent more at Starbucks than I did on alcoholic drinks (I plan on bringing my 2 bottles of wine which is PLENTY for me for the entire cruise). What kind of coffee drinks are included in this package? Are there any fancy coffee drinks that are not included?

  5. Are you serious???? I just bought those plastic holders for the luggage tags.

What kind of luggage tag holders are you talking about? I'm assuming that the luggage tags are printed out from your computer? That's how it was when we sailed Carnival.

I need to get on the ball also. We depart in a little over 2 months!

  6. You have a few options.

    1) Stay at a hotel with a shuttle.

    2) Stay at any hotel and get taxis or

    3) Keep the rental car and drop everyone off at the ship and then one or two of you return the car to it's rightful owner and take their shuttle back to the ship. I have found this the easiest method.

Avis have an agency 5 minutes from Port Everglades on 17th Street Hyatt Pier 66 with a free shuttle. It is MUCH easier to drop people and luggage off before returning the car as it saves unloading the car and reloading luggage into the shuttle then again unloading the luggage at the pier.

Thank you SO MUCH for this info! I never even thought of that. Between Christmas and the stress of my daughter applying to/visiting/getting recruit offers, to colleges (she's a senior), my brain completely forgot about out cruise. I desperately need this vacation!

  7. why do you need taxi if you have car?

Sorry. I wasn't very clear in my original post.

I thought most of the hotels provided free transportation to the port, but I just realized that not many do. We will be renting a car to drive down there in (another couple is riding with us so we need a larger vehicle). I had initially planned on turning it in the evening we arrived, but now I'm wondering if we should just turn it in the morning of departure somewhere near the port.

How do I move this thread? I just noticed that there is a forum specifically for Ft. Lauderdale departures.

  8. We are a group of 8 cruising the Navigator during Spring Break. We will be driving straight through the day before (13 hour drive) and need a place to stay. Hotel prices near the port are HIGH for the days we are looking at (due to spring break) and so I'm wondering if we would be better off staying farther inland and catching a taxi or shuttle the morning of our cruise. I don't even know what time boarding begins.

    WWYD?

  9. We will be docking in Gerogetown and I'm looking for things that do NOT involve animals held in captivity or animals being held for photo ops. So that means that Stingray City is out.

We LOVE snorkeling though. Is there anywhere in the area where we can take a cab or bus to go snorkeling?
