  1. Tiggrbaby, I am a bit confused. I have never sailed NCL, but are you saying if I pay $1,000 pp for a balcony room on NCL, and a month before sailing they have a sail and the price drops to $700 that NCL will credit me with the difference?

I thought all the cruise lines made you stick with the price after final payment.

We've always been able to book NCL through Costco and the price was always lower even at the end.

  2. On Carnival the only people that EVER get price drops after final payment are the ES bookings.

It's rare that the price drops in the last month before the cruise, but she did just say to call back and something could be worked out.......that something was the cabin change which presumably was an upgrade.....

The agent did exactly what she said she would do, you just assumed based on your inexperience with Carnival that it would be an OBC.

Actually, we went from a 4E to a 4C so it would not be a HA cabin.

  3. What made you thing an agent would know if prices would go up or down????

No one knows for sure, blame yourself!!!

True; I will never book a Carnival cruise more than a week in advance again!

Too bad you didn't get an agent that knew the fare codes a little better. Or you didn't do a little research on fares.

Looks like you've cruised on other lines. Do they only have one fare code?

On Carnival, the only fare that will get you prices drops after final payment is Early Saver.

You booked less than a month out, so ES wasn't available.

We usually cruise NCL or DCL. We have never had a problem with price drop without some sort of compensation, although it usually never drops.

  4. We booked on the Fascination at the beginning of the month for the 8/25 cruise with Carnival. The agent assured us the price would not go lower, and if it did to call back and they would work something out. Well, the price did and DH called. Apparently Carnival's agent's word was worthless. The only thing they would do was move us from the HA cabin they had us in (we don't need it and I only discovered it was one through CC). I was thinking a shipboard credit for the difference, but they wouldn't budge. It would be a small gesture but would bring such goodwill. Right now I am not feeling very positive towards Carnival!

  5. We will be on LSC on Carnival Fascination. If we bring our own snorkel equipment, do we have to use their vest? I usually use an inflatable noodle for flotation. Also, can we bring our own shade canopy or is there lots of available shade? As two adults we don't mind walking farther out.

  6. Was just there last week - was there on MOnday, June 16th....with Carnival.

I kept a water bottle with me at all times, and refilled it with the water from the BBQ area. There are hamburgers, and all kinds of fixings - desserts, etc.

There are probably 15+ covered picnic table areas.

We, too, cruise "on the cheap" so that we can afford to go again :)

So, the only thing we spent was $14.99 to rent a float.

If I had brought my own, I wouldn't have had to do that.

We brought our own beach umbrella , too.

(we drove to the port, so we could easily bring the umbrella)

I had never been to a private island either, and I really enjoyed it.

My husband and son went back before I did (it's a tender port) -

it was really hot, and while I was waiting in line to board the tender, Carnival staff was passing around rolled up, watered-down, iced washcloths!!!!

Anyway, it was nice to just relax with a beach day. I don't like to do beach days at other islands because I want to SEE the island, get to know the history, etc. I figure I can always get to a beach here (even though I am at least 18 hours from an ocean shore) - but I am not paying all that money to go onto a new island and stay at the beach :)

Anyway, if you have any more questions, just ask.

We have a beach tent. Do you think they would be OK with us setting that up? We like to cruise cheap as well, but can't spend the day in the sun.

  7. Just got back today from our NCL Gem cruise. Took a fabulous tour the first day with Judith and Robin. They had a vehicle large enough to accommodate our group of eight that included a someone in a wheelchair. They were very knowledgeable and did not rush us. We got a great overview of the island and learned much of the history. We were very glad we went with them!

  8. It's been over a week since I sent an e-mail to Colin - no response. I heard back from Duke right away, but since he works alone he cannot help our group of 8. Has anyone used/heard of Winsome Transport? They have a large van that can accommodate our group, and is the same price as two taxis.

  9. tiggrbaby asked:

...we would take the sandy-looking path through South shore Park to Chapin Bay.... YES

....then cut up the beach to Stone Hole Bay... YES

...back to a path for Jobson's Cove.... YES

...through the rocks to Warwick Long Bay... YES

...Would 6 hours be enough for a day here?...

The path distance from the northeast end of Horseshoe Bay to the southwest end of Warwick Long Bay is about .6 mile. Will you be swimming at each stop or are they photo ops? 6 hours should be more than enough depending on what you'll be doing.

Thanks! We plan on swimming and sunning and enjoying all the beauty! And I will try to keep my photos down to a minimum rather than drive the rest of the group crazy!

  10. So if I am looking at the map correctly, we would take the sandy-looking path through South shore Park to Chapin Bay, then cut up the beach to Stone Hole Bay, back to a path for Jobson's Cove and through the rocks to Warwick Long Bay. Would 6 hours be enough for a day here?

  11. Our ship is not scheduled to dock until 10am. Would it still be worth it for us to go there if they close at 4? Could we bring our own snorkel gear? It's only supposed to be 70 degrees, so I'm not sure if we will be interested in going in the water. Would it be better to go here or to Paradise Beach? We are two adults, no kids.
