For those going on Liberty of the Seas in October: You got a "Celebrity" Onboard

Recommended Posts

Oh man, that's almost enough to get me to cancel our September Disney trip! Love her, we pretty much take bets as to when all the booze she MUST drink is going to cause her to pass out mid-show. :)

Hahaha.....

Seriously. She's sweet but OMG I could never eat what she makes!

FWIW, her "Is It Really Better Than S*x" cake is delish! SIMPLE and faboo. I am a celebrity at DH's workplace b/c of this cake, it is requested (with and without coconut) for every potluck they have. A co-worker of DH's picked us up late at night at the train station once, and ALL he wanted in return was one of these cakes... I really should write to her. The recipe really should be on that "almost homemade" show instead of Paula's, but it's great!

edit to add...IM'd hubby about this, and he said "oh wow, do you think the ship has enough alcohol for her?" bwa ha ha ha....

Paula if you're reading, we do love you, but ya gotta lay off the booze while filming!

Just to be clear, it's not "better than s*x" cake, but "is it really" etc etc. Not the chocolate goodness that I think the first is. :)

We might be talking about the same thing, but since everyone "in real life" that I say the name to thinks at first it's the chocolate thing, I wanted to be certain. :p

Well Paula's ingredients are the same as I have made for years and called 'Better than s** cake'- yellow cake mix,van pudding, crushed pineapple, coconut, cool whip or heavy cream.

My recipe card is falling to pieces from use over the years.

Can you share the recipe? It is hard to find good desserts that don't have chocolate. DH doesn't like chocolate. I know he is wierd, but I married him anyway!

Saw the above on her website. Bet she will have a good turnout as she is extremely popular and well known. I always thought it would be fun to do one of the Quacker Factory cruises with Jeanne Bice. She is a real kick.

All I can think of since reading this post is how all of the passengers, including all of the foreign passengers, will come off the ship w/big crazy _ _ _ _ face grins, shouting, "HEY Y'ALL!!!!! HOW YA DOIN?"

I own some of Jeanne's clothing and really like them, but I wish she would lose the headband!

I remember reading in her book about the headband .... it's on Page 161 of her book "Pull Yourself Up by Your Bra Straps":

The headband was a result of her moving to Florida and her fine hair really took a beating making her look like a drowned rat (her words not mine). It was her daughter's idea to wear the headband as it was a popular thing to do when you had a "bad hair" day. She has worn the headband for 25 years and here's the other reasons she gives:

1. It keeps hair under control.

2. It gives an instant face lift.

3. It was a way for her customers to identify her from her business partner. They asked for the one who wore the headband rather than the short, chubby one.

I think her clothes are GREAT. I bought a few of her 100% cotton shirts for our cruise in April and they worked wonderful. I always get compliments when I wear them. I buy her more conservative designs not the all over prints/beading.

Yeah, it does make you wonder but, I think you are talking about Sandra Lee she always does "cocktails" to go with her dinners. Paula cooks with butter and lard but having cooked some of her dishes, she can't be too wrong coz they are turned out great

RCI better double their weekly butter order :)

Oh phooey...I would have loved to do this cruise! :(

Anyway, about the butter, I went to one of the Food Network's Great Big Food Shows in Philly, and we attended one of Paula's shows. There was a Q&A and someone actually asked (for obvious reasons) "What IS your cholesterol?!?!?!?" :D

(By the way she did mention she did not have a cholesterol problem! LOL)

Who mentioned cholesterol here? She uses a LOT of butter, that was my only point  I prefer ICBINB

PS. you have a VERY large signature :)
