crusinmama06 Posted May 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) I am currently onboard the Breakaway - waiting for the christening ceremony to take place from my "assigned viewing location" outside Sheehan's :) I have so much to tell you already! Now if I can just get these photos to load! I grabbed the Splash Academy Bermuda pages for ALL ages so when I get back on Friday I have some scanning to do. So we arrive to the terminal at 10:30 after a little bit of traffic and there she is Squidward and the gang are a little wet today We immediately head to the spa to make sure we have a warm, dry place to relax ($29 per day) We then grab our dining and entertainment at the electronic touch screens on the wall by the elevators. Sad to say - by 11:45 am many of our specialty dining choices are already gone. We were able to grab Cagney's and laCucina. And Rock of Ages (not family friendly - more on that later). More to come - the christening is about to start..... Edited May 8, 2013 by crusinmama06

crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted May 11, 2013 We are back! I couldn't upload to photo bucket onboard like I wanted to so I had to wait to continue when I got home. All of the photos are uploaded so I am ready to continue.... To answer the original - I was invited because I am one of the admins for a Norwegian Facebook page and much begging was involved. My home for the cruise was B2 quad cabin 12140 on Deck 12. I apologize that I didn't get pictures of the other cabins - I simply ran out of time. Two days on this ship REALLY is not enough time. kerrytens Posted May 11, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Thanks for the review Michele. I always love your threads :) Did you bring the girls?
crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #17 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Here are some of the minimums - the ropes course: at least 48" tall - maximum weight 300lbs The ropes course has a small zip line where you have to zip from one section to the other. And as you can see - the plank does have a camera that takes your picture so you can prove to your friends back home that you did it. (No, I didn't even consider it, sorry) The spider web - must be at least 42" tall Next to the spider web is the bungee trampoline I couldn't find a minimum on the climbing wall instructions
crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #18 Share Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the review Michele. I always love your threads Did you bring the girls? No - the invitation was for me +1. I had a nice long conversation with the folks at Splash Academy. There were only 13 children onboard for this pre-inaugural. But they said that they are expecting 1,300 for one of their Bermuda sailings. Here is the new Splash Academy on Deck 12 The 10-12s get their own on Deck 13 Edited May 11, 2013 by crusinmama06

crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #20 Share Posted May 11, 2013 The shows - Rock of Ages - NOT FOR CHILDREN! Everyone onboard was pretty much in total agreement on this one - not appropriate for children. EXTREMELY mature subject matter and language including the "f word" (3 times by my count) and other words like sh*t, a**, and simulated sex acts onstage. With that being said - I LOVED IT (don't know what that says about me). It's a great show with really good 80's rock music. I did talk to the Splash Academy crew about this show - they are OPENING EARLY for the ROA nights so that parents can drop off before the show! I applaud Norwegian for seeing that need and being forward thinking enough to accommodate parents. So - my advice - drop the kids off at Splash Academy - go see the show. If you want the kids to see amazing dancing - take them to see Burn the Floor. They will be memorized. It is one HOT show. This show is performed in the Manhattan Room - we were lucky enough to catch it from a table overlooking the floor up in Cagney's
crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #21 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Any chance you checked out the toilets in splash academy ? Are the kid size ? I didn't - sorry! To answer the previous spa question - yes that waterfall is powerful. Actually everything in that thalassotherapy pool is very powerful. The back wall has metal bars that you can sit on and the jets shoot over you. Then there are the heated tile loungers. They were busy in the morning - empty in the afternoon. The "first salt bath at sea". I have no idea how it works but your skin comes out feeling as soft as a baby's bottom. It smells incredible too! Like vanilla. You can't feel the salt spraying. One woman commented that it was like "watching grass grow". But I liked it. The air is cool and it's very calm in there. Then there was the sanarium And the steam room - I think there were people in there but I could never see a foot in front of my face
crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #22 Share Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) On to Carlo's Bakery. Buddy did make a cake for the sailing (we didn't get to cut into it - don't know who the lucky sailing is that gets to - maybe the Bermuda folks?) His bakery opens out to the waterfront. We tried the double chocolate mousse ($6.95) Right on the other side is Dolce Gelato Edited May 11, 2013 by crusinmama06
crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2013 Author #23 Share Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) If I had to name my favorite area on the ship I would have to say the Waterfront. It's an area where you feel the closest to the ocean. Some restaurants and lounges have both inside and outside seating including LaCucina, Ocean Blue and Fat Cats Jazz Club. I can only imagine what it's going to be like to dine at one of these restaurants while docked in Bermuda. We were lucky enough to be on a sailing with a schedule that had "Statue of Liberty Fireworks" and the Waterfront made a perfect viewing location.
