MN2Cruise Posted June 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2018 We are scheduled for the "Lysoen Island & Fantoft Stave Church" optional excursion on July 1, 2018, from Bergen, while in port on the Viking Star ("Into the Midnight Sun" cruise). Can anyone tell me if we will actually go IN the Fantoft Stave Church? The write-up says " Back on the mainland, stop at a stunning overlook peering down on the Lyse Abbey. And at the 12th-century Fantoft Stave Church, moved to its picturesque site in 1883 to preserve it for the nation, you can admire its traditional timber construction and elaborate carved decorations. It was all painstakingly rebuilt after a severe fire in 1992." I appreciate any help! Thanks,Mark

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted June 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2018 The "elaborate carved decorations" are inside, so you would have to go in to see them. It's a very small church. Hard to imagine any tour taking you that far and not going in.
Twitchly Posted June 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2018 The church is open during the summer. When we visited in April, we could not go in. If you’re going in July, you should be fine.
