Z'Loth Posted May 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2018 Does anyone know the history behind YVR's gates 90-96? They are located in what seems to be the next county, and were designed with small planes in mind.

Think YVR-SEA or YVR-PDX or other routes that merit a smaller aircraft for load considerations.
Z'Loth Posted May 20, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 20, 2018 PDX→YVR for the flight over, YVR→SEA for the flight back.
em-sk Posted May 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2018 PDX→YVR for the flight over' date=' YVR→SEA for the flight back.[/quote'] There is a constant stream of Q400 between YVR and SEA and PDX. They mostly operate out of that area. The master plan for YVR has that area being demolished and replaced with another pier to handle larger aircraft. That would still be several years out. em-sk Posted May 21, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 21, 2018 When was it first constructed? It has been around for quite some time (perhaps since 2000 or so), I think it was intended as a temporary extensions in it does not have the same fancy lighting, and glass as the rest of the airport. The Portland and Seattle routes use to be Dash-8 100 and 300 routes. More recently they have switched over to Q400. There are exception. Back in the 90s I remember flying on Air Canada/BC Air BAe 146 on that route. Alaska sometimes runs 737 on the route and delta usually runs a CRJ-700/900. However it is dominated by the Dash-8.
