Cruise Credits

We will be sailing on SS a little later this year and have found out that we are getting cruise credits from both VISA and SS. Question: What can we use the credits for? I am going to assume the spa, land tours and off-the-menu wines but is there anything else? Can the credits be used in the casino or shops? (Probably wishful thinking...)

Thanks!

We used our CC on a recent SS cruise against anything that we charged to the stateroom. That included gift shop purchases, shore tours, premium wines, internet usage, etc. Don't know about the casino as we didn't use it. The credit had been posted against our account and then used up as we charged things to the room.

rkaratsu:
If I remember correctly, we will be on a cruise similar to yours. We will get $300 per cabin shipboard credit from American Express. However, we don't know anything about SS also giving shipboard credits. Can you teach us how to get it? Thank you.

I have never cruised on Silversea. I am use to getting the $300. shipboard credit from American Express Platinum on Radisson, does Silversea do the same? (not sure because Visa was also mentioned)?? Thanks.

I called American Express platinum division, they told me that they would give $300 per cabin shipboard credit for Silversea. I don't know about the additional credit SS will give, and I hope rkaratsu can teach us how to get it too!

By the way, your black kitten is really special, meow!

Sorry but I have no idea what I did to get the additional shipboard credit! I did book directly with Silversea (via website) and when I got my confirmation, I received $250 from VISA and another $300 that says "1B - SBC (Max. $300) SHIP CREDIT". (I assume that "SBC" means "ship board credit". But like I said, I don't know what I did to deserve this. I do remember when I was talking to the SS agent when booking, she mentioned the credits but since I had no idea what she was talking about, I just said "Thanks!")

Since this is only a 7 day cruise (and we have been to most of the ports of call), I guess I'll just have to see what a few $250 bottles of wine tastes like! If you are sailing on December 14th (to the Mexican Riviera), I guess I'm buying! Or since the credits look to be good in the gift shop, I can buy SS hats for everyone on the 8th deck! (Other suggestions gladly accepted...) :]

Not being familiar with Silversea, but am familiar with most other cruise lines... Did they charge the higher brochure rate by booking directly through Silversea rather than through an outside TA?

I'm glad to hear that AmEx Platinum gives the $300 shipboard credit!

My wife and I are booked on the Mexican Riviera cruise Dec 14. Should be a good one--I guess its sold out--the only suite we could get was a Grand--to bad!! Don't worry about using up your credits--the gift shop has some real nice stuff!
