Christmas Gift Options

I’d like to get a cruise related gift for the family. We are cruising in March and the final payment is due on Christmas! I think this rules out an NCL gift card, which can only be used for cruise payment, right? Is the On Board Credit certificates for sale on the NCL website a good option? Can they be used for Bingo, casino, gift shop purchases or photos? Thank you all in advance for clarifying how NCL gift cards and on board credit certificates work.

The NCL gift card can be used on board as well - it just has to be given to a cashier at the guest services desk and it will then just be added to the on board account as refundable OBC. And that can be used for everything purchased on board, as it will just be added as an amount "in plus" on the persons on board account, and anything purchased on board will be deducted from the account (meaning there is no need to specify what purchases should be paid from the Gift Card OBC).

Gift card would work. Treated by everyone as pretty much cash - except of course only good on NCL.
