No, but they're not included in the DSC either.

Just curious -- if all tips etc are wrapped into the UK fare, how about those staying in the haven/suites. Are the butler/concierge tips included in the wrapped up fare?

and there are reasons some get nasty. We all can pretty well figure out why someone would want to remove the DSC. this tipping individually crap is just that: Crap!!! They don't want to tip the required amount. :rolleyes:

Nita, "remove DSC and tip individually" appears to automatically evoke the response "cheap, don't want to tip the 'required' amount". Why is it a foregone conclusion this is the case, rather than someone taking the DSC amount, whatever that might be, and dividing it up among crew that the pax would like to see get $$ directly? If someone's DSC would be $200 (for example) why wouldn't they be considering taking that $200 and giving $20 to 10 crew members they want to tip, or some variation on this?

I get that the DSC is the way that NCL is able to reduce the amount of cruise fare revenue they put towards payroll, pay their staff as little as possible, and get the rest of payroll from DSC, so by removing it the underpaid workers are penalized, even though that's not anyone's intent (and it is how NCL guilts pax into paying DSC rather than direct tipping) I get that because this is how the cruise industry operates, it IS better for the entire crew for pax to put that $200 into DSC, even if your steward who makes the towel animals so beautifully ends up getting less than you would like him to get but..

but go with the question just for a minute....why assume a "direct tipper" will spend LESS on tips than they would on DSC?
