Jeffrey1950 Posted November 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2017 Can someone tell me their experience at bringing a steamer on board. I am sure I read somewhere a long time ago that these are not allowed and yet when I just called Cunard and enquired I was told it is okay as long as it is in your carry on bag. I know some people think it could be a fire hazard but meanwhile curling irons are allowed. I am not sure what to do....

Sent from my iPad using Forums Thank you Kerry, that is what I always thought. If you are allowed to bring curling irons then you should be allowed a steamer. That's it settled it is going with me. Do you pack it in your carry on or regular luggage?
Rare Scrapnana Posted November 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2017 I brought one on in 2014 and 2015 and it was in my regular luggage.

It is very good for steaming my husbands jackets and my long dresses. Very useful on a long voyage. Sent from my iPad using Forums
FennoExpress Posted November 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 28, 2017 Same here, I always take it onboard. And I've packed it into luggage, no problem. Very handy device.

I always pack mine in my luggage as I have always had to fly to reach the ship. Never had any issues. Sent from my iPad using Forums
tommy k Posted November 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2017 I did the round trip crossing in September and took a travel steamer. It was kept under the bathroom sink in plain sight and no problems.
BlueLadyBlue Posted December 8, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2017 (edited) I didn't realize there were travel steamers. That would be great for DH jackets and some of my things. Any recommendations on brand?? What/what not to buy? Edited December 8, 2017 by BlueLadyBlue Typo
Jeffrey1950 Posted December 9, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted December 9, 2017 I just arrived back yesterday after being on the Queen Mary 2 for 12 days had no issues at all bringing a steamer on board. Later today I am going to write more and give some advice on different issues that some may welcome. This ship is everything they say it is and for those sailing for their first time on her you will not be disappointed. She is magnificent !! She should be renamed " The Queen of the Oceans ".
