hrprof Posted April 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2018 In a couple of weeks, we'll be taking our 1st cruise on the Duchess. The River Club requires reservation - how difficult is it to secure a reservation? Is it worth it? A second question - for anyone who has stayed in 301 - how troublesome is that "lift" which is adjacent to the suite?
DaveinCharlotte Posted April 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2018 In a couple of weeks, we'll be taking our 1st cruise on the Duchess. The River Club requires reservation - how difficult is it to secure a reservation? Is it worth it? Have taken one short cruise on this ship, last December. When we first checked in at the front desk, I asked about this. We were told we could reserve seats at the River Club at the front desk (not at the River Club), either right then or later. We opted for seats for that night, and arbitrarily, for a second night a few days later. So reserving seats was easy; not sure how easy it would have been to get seats later on. The River Club is half the size of the main dining room, and has a separate menu. There are no carpets there, so the noise level can get kind of high when things get busy. It opens to the outside, but when we were there it was winter and nothing was being served outside. This is where a buffet breakfast is served, so you could check it out for your first breakfast and then decide if you want to reserve it for dinners. Yes, we thought it was worth it. hrprof Posted April 28, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted April 28, 2018 I really appreciate your response - have cruised on the "Queen" and the River Club is a new choice. Will try breakfast.
