angel41 Posted October 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I'm looking for any ships that have a balcony that either faces toward the front or is angled that direction. Prefer a balcony but a mini-suite or better would also be a possibility.

angel41 Posted October 19, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted October 19, 2005 Great, I will definitely check their deck plans out again. Am I remembering correctly, all are going to be mini-suites, suites, penthouse? I don't recall seeing any regular balconies..
jetskier Posted October 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I believe you will only find regular balconies on the stern. Dave
alexspepaw Posted October 19, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I don't know if it matters...but there is a recent post in the Princess section talking about certain forward mini-suites having the balcony doors sealed while the ship is under way, and only opened while in port. wrp96 Posted October 19, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2005 I'm just being curious, but why do you want a forward facing balcony? Why would a balcony on the side where you can go to the railing and view forward not work? Just curious and being noisy.
angel41 Posted October 20, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted October 20, 2005 I guess b/c I've had those twice. I've also had an aft. Anytime I go out to a public deck, it's always the ones facing towards the front. I love looking straight a head, in the direction we sail, and feeling the huge amounts of wind. catmand Posted October 21, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2005 http://www.princess.com/ships/sa/deck/sa_baja_index.html Hi, check out the link and view cabin 104, I think there are 3 decks with these. They are suites. We had some friends in one and yes, they do close the forward section of that balcony when the ship is at sea, it gets pretty windy. Sapphire was designed with some forward facing balcony's. Before her first cruise they were sealed and relabeled ocean views. I heard during sea trials they had those doors open and things in the cabin were blown against the walls.
surrocruiser Posted October 21, 2005 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2005 Am I understanding things correctly? The balconies that go towards the front are sealed or at least closed at sea, but if you have suites (on some of the lines) they aren't sealed???? Oakview Posted October 24, 2005 #12 Share Posted October 24, 2005 The Norwegiani Sun has forward facing cabins. Two are Owner's Suites, two are Mini-suites, and two are regular balcony cabins. They're on the Pool deck with a couple of the restaurants, one being the main casual restaurant, and the pool. There are approx. 12 other balcony cabins facing the sides so that deck has very few cabins on it.
angel41 Posted October 27, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted October 27, 2005 Sounds like the Sun could be exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you. Along those same lines, are there any balconies that are on the corners of any of the ships? Maybe a wrap around or something along those lines. Casshew Posted October 30, 2005 #14 Share Posted October 30, 2005 We had awesome forward facing cabins on the sun... you can see some pics here http://www.casshew.com/ncl-b.htm
DCT61 Posted October 31, 2005 #15 Share Posted October 31, 2005 I had the pleasure of sailing on the NORWEGIAN DAWN 2 years ago, in a AC catagory suite. They are located at the front of the ship and have huge teak floored balconies. Although there was a hinged steel hatch cover that could close over the main balcony door, it was never closed throughout the cruise. We were able to use our balcony while the ship was at sea the entire time. There was little or no wind. Last week we were on the CONSTELLATION in an aft cabin with a rear facing balcony. It was nice, but I enjoyed the front facing balcony much more. Give the NCL board a shot....there are many threads regarding these cabins, with some good information. rwslv Posted November 13, 2005 #16 Share Posted November 13, 2005 We had an AB Suite on the Sun a few weeks ago. They are not as windy as you might imagine. The only problem is that you are not allowed to keep any lights on in the cabin if you have the drapes open at night. You are also not alowed to have a light on outside at night. I would not book a forward cabin agian for that reason. Otherwise it was very nice.
fred20036 Posted November 19, 2005 #17 Share Posted November 19, 2005 I was on RCCL's Explorer of the Seas, and my cabin was on the part of the ship that bows-out, right on the middle. The balcony on this cabin allowed you a full forward view, which was perfect when arriving at ports.
Dumsyjr Posted May 10, 2018 #18 Share Posted May 10, 2018 what Princess ships have forward facing balconies?
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 11, 2018 #19 Share Posted May 11, 2018 This is a 13 year old thread. Many ships have been transferred, added, replaced in that time. Diamond and Sapphire have forward balconies that can only be used while in port. There are forward facing OV cabins on most of the Grand Class.
