Marina

Hi,

Sorry to bother the "Board" again, but does anyone know if the Marina is operated in the Med?

Looks fun, and don't want to miss out!

Yes, there is always a marina day on the med cruises, usually one every 7 days.

Occasionally, depending on the time of year and weather constraints, it is cancelled, but that is the unusal exception. Seabourn does, however, state this caveat in the cruise brochure and in your cruise docs, but again, it rarely happens.

It's really one of the most pure fun days of a Seabourn cruise!

ITA!! I didn't know what to expect when it came to the Marina. My Mom didn't tell me a thing and it was such a surprise. Lots of fun and everyone had a spectacular time!!!

We have completed 140 days on Seabourn and have yet to see the marina in action!!!! We must just be terribly unlucky!
I emailed Seabourn about 2 weeks ago to ask if it is scheduled for use on our next cruise, 1st August, Spirit, in the Black sea, but as usual they cannot be bothered to answer any emails, so who knows we may be lucky this time?
It is a good thing I know how good Seabourn are or I would not book the way they treat your queries!

There will not be a marina day on the Black Sea cruise as none of the ports are suitable for the Marina although the itinerary is very interesting.

The good news is that in the new 2005-2006 catalogue the Marina days are listed in the itineraries, so it's easy to pick one with a Marina day if you want. Of course, the Marina use is always subject to weather and sea conditions.(After all, it's a big opening in thr back of the ship!)

Out of curiousity, which department are you emailing at Seabourn?

I haven't looked at your itinerary, but if you stop in Monemvasia, that is typically a marina day. I recall a second port back in 1998 on our solar eclipse cruise on the Black Sea, but it escapes me at the moment.

thanks for the info it is good to know that the information will be included in next years brochure, my husband is dying to use the marina!
I emailed the Seabourn Club, when I did not get a response I emailed all the other departments but still no reply even though I pleaded with them to answer me!!
Since then I have emailed them about a booking enquiry but they have not answered that either!!!

We do not visit Monemvasia this time, we have been but the weather was not good enough to have the Marina out that day! As I said we seem to be very unlucky when it comes to the Marina, perhaps that is why they do not want to tell us when it is scheduled [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
Thank you both for your help, I know we will have a fantastic time Marina or no Marina it is just that Seabourn can be so frustrating sometimes!

I don't know where you are located, but I have found that telephoning Seabourn directly with questions is the best way to get information. They are usually quite helpful.

Too bad about the marina days, but you have a fabulous itinerary. Believe it or not, we really enjoyed Nesebur, Bulgaria, which is the Bulgarian equivalent to the French Riviera, although by no means the same scale. [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Have a great trip---in fact, it is impossible to do otherwise!

I agree we cannot do anything else but have a great time! As soon as I saw this itinerary I knew it was one I really wanted to do. I am so looking forward to it!
We are in the UK and I am sure our TA said that Seabourn operations for us has been transferred to Miami, so not that easy to call!I think I will enquire further as you are right, they cannot ignore you when you are on the telephone!

I have spoken with Seabourn and they were unaware that there is in fact a problem with the mailboxes on their site. They are aware now and will fix it so that emails will go through.

I tried again and Seabourn telephoned me to apologise for not responding to the emails. They answered ALL of my questions and even found a cabin on the Legend transatlantic that we had been unable to book!
Oh happy day! I now have 2 Seabourn cruises to look forward to [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

BTW, we have been to Monemvasia twice on the Spirit and never had a marina day there ( it was Amrogos and Bodrum on our last trip).
