Help for first timers in port

How far is the Isla Verde beach from the port? Can you rent chairs and umbrellas?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

It’s about 15 minutes from the OSJ pier. Chairs and umbrellas are likely available for rent in the resort area, but we were further out where there were no facilities.

My family has been to San Juan many times, beginning when my kids were roughly 5, 7. and 9 and continuing to now, when they're all teenagers. We've all loved it every time. In fact, we've often made this our departure port, and we lengthen our pre-cruise stay each time so we can enjoy more of this beautiful island! We have done both El Morro and San Cristobal forts with the kids (on different trips), and they have loved them both. El Morro has lots of wide open spaces to run and play (pretend sword fights, hide-and-seek, etc.) and San Cristobal has lots of tunnels. El Morro's view is unbeatable.

We haven't yet been post-hurricane, but in a few weeks I'll be able to report back about that. Don't skip El Morro! :)

We rode bikes around old san Juan for 4 hours last week. There is a bike path that goes all the way to escabrom and by the forts. It was a nice day. 2 ships were in the pan American. We used san Juan bike rental who brought bikes to the CVS across from old san juan port and gave us a map of where to go. I'd recommend it with kids for an activity during week with a cruise ship stop not an embarkation day.

How far in advance do you think you’d need to secure the bikes? For example, would it be crazy to think that there would be bikes available the day I arrive? Thanks!
